  • Real nice timelapse. And good movies on your channel.

Be shure to check out our Dutch masters timelapse, inspiration for many dutch painters.

  • Ill never Catch up to get me gold!

  • Very nice video footage.

  • @DJCJ6969 Thanks. That view is now blocked by a very fast growing tree -- at least I still have this...

  • stupid clouds on 0:42 LOL!

  • until i read the description i thought it was south england. nice video.

  • Thanks. Do they use the same kind crab/lobster/fish trap floats there? I wish we had south England's fossils here...

  • : ) those trap floats and the fence, and the maritime coastal sunlight reminded me of it - im from Barcelona (Spain) but moved to south England for some time some years ago... Yes --> definetly a fossil area : ) nice comment and video - Greetings from Bcn

  • cool, it went from rainbow to tornado weather... i think? i dont exactly know wat i was looking for?

  • It got a little "thunder stormy" but not too bad. I don't think there was any lightning -- even though it sort of looks like it when frames of sun shining through flashes.

  • pretty cool, but maybe put some music to the next one.

  • Thanks. I agree that this vid begs for music, but the track I would use (intro from Zappa's Echidna's Arf) is copyrighted by the Zappa Family trust. I wouldn't violate that copyright and it wouldn't qualify as "fair use" either. One comment said that the vid went perfectly with the music she was already listening to -- I guess that's the best I can hope for.

  • nah music ruins the video

  • sweet =]

  • What the hell was I just looking at. O.O

  • very tight and fierce time elapse, I intend to try this whole time elapse craze out, when I hit up my vacation down in the US :) Keep up the good work.

  • cool. love the rainbow!

    great capture!

  • very good..

i have dabbled in timelapse as well..

check my page. im from Maryland..

  • Hi there, great looking video. Really enjoyed my watch. I too post time lapse from Idaho and upload to my channel. Be sure and check mine out. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to future time lapse movies. =)

    Take care...

    -gerrit

  • gorgeous! very lovely

  • Thank you!!!

  • that was really neat!

  • stop it at about 0:37 seconds

  • why?

  • very cool

  • cool! I liked it!

  • Nice job Humboldt.

  • That's really pretty-- great place to shoot it, nice video. Maybe add some music?

  • very good better with some music.

    but good effort

  • thats trippy, this is was we live below =O

  • Very pretty. I especially like the bird's silhouette at around 40 seconds.

  • The rainbow was cool

  • Now u know where the gold is.

  • What s the stuff in the yard?

  • The floats on the fence are markers for Dungeness crab traps -- found them on the beach.

  • WHAT CITY IS THAT IN? SUPERBAD SHIT

  • It's a small town in Humboldt County USA.

  • NICE JOB, MIKE IN HUMBOLT.

  • wow cool

  • Hey nice footage of the rainbow there. I knew the earth move but never thought at the back of my mind that the rainbow moves too. Looking at this footage makes alota sense too.

  • Some Philip Glass music would go good with this ...

  • My choice for music would be Frank Zappa's Echidna's Arf (but I always choose that). I would only add music that I made myself -- but unfortunately I'm not a musician. One person commented that it went perfectly with what she already had playing -- so that's the best I can hope for. Glass could be good though.

  • I mention Glass because this kind of cloudscape makes up a good deal of Koyaanisqatsi.

PS: I'm in the process of uploading some of my original music to Podsafe, with a Creative Commons license. If you'd like some music for your videos, let me know, and I'll alert you when I've posted.

  • Cool...where is dis from?

  • This is facing east from the coast in Humboldt County, California, USA.

  • what the hell, super cloudy!!

  • what parameters in your time-lapse setup did you use for this video? it's great! I am just getting into time-lapse video, and need some help, as i'm kinda confused by two parameters. I am taking one snapshot every HOWMANY seconds, and also, the playback rate should be what (images per second). thanks! keep the vids coming!

  • Thanks. I shot it at one frame every 20 seconds and played it back at 15 frames per second. I would have shot it at a shorter interval, but my camera produces a lot of black frames if I go shorter than 20 seconds. Probably better to shoot more frames and then adjust the play-back rate to get the desired motion. Of course, different kinds of subjects will require different rates of shooting. Good luck.

  • Your Drunk

  • Am I drunk, or is there really this green SHIMMER jumping from left to right thru the skies JUST before the rainbow appears in the film? It also seems to accompany the rainbow on its way down? Weird shizzlearoni oh my brothers...

  • Well, there are some weird artifacts in the clouds due to the low res and/or compression. Maybe they show up greenish on your monitor. Or maybe you are drinking Tanqueray and looking through the bottom of the bottle...?

  • ah the world is such a beautiful place, esp. when one is intoxicated, enivre vous, as good old Charly B. taught us

  • hey wait a second, then that means i'm drunk too cuz i saw it too!

  • too too too!! Drunken idiots. Sweet, what were we commenting on again?

  • uhmmmmmmmm i think it was about unicorns or something...

  • Now this...is very cool!

  • this has got to be one of the coolest videos ever, and so simple.. how many hours of footage is that?

  • backout3 - Thanks. That was about 4 hours total, and the RB lasted about 15 minutes.

  • the gold was on the move

  • wow nice video.. i like it ;)

  • wooah

  • This would make a great screen saver

  • wow, that was one nasty storm-cloud near the end.. was it a storm cloud or just the screen goin black?

  • The darkness at the end is just due to low light after sunset. The flashes are short periods of sun shining through the clouds as it set.

  • fantastic video, how did you make it

  • very good better with some music.

    but good effort

  • pretty cool! one problem though you had to wait for ages for the rainbow to come. otherwise, nice work!

  • You must live in my neck of the woods (Pacific NW) with the Humboldt reference. Nice vid - perhaps Rainbow In the Dark by Dio would augment the experience...

  • NEAT!

  • awesome lol

  • OMG! That was awsome!!!

  • woah...awesomeness...it was so...beautiful...

  • I enjoyed that. It might have music on top one day? Are those fenders hanging on the fence, for boats?

  • Thanks. Those are marker floats from Dungeness crab traps on the fence. For music I would put Zappa's Echidna's Arf, but I don't have permission from the Zappa Family Trust.

  • Wow. We must be spinning really fast. I got dizzy ;)

  • cast the rainbow a bigger part next time :D

  • i had to wait all the way till the end to see the rainbow but it was worth it.

  • I saw a bird.

  • nice! good one!

  • taste da rainbo

  • That is nice

  • Ah, nice vid. I love rainbows, but I've only seen one once in my life. thanks for posting! By the way, whoever comments on my video 'The Diary of Horace Kettlebaum' will get a reward. You may not realize it at first, but u will get it. :)

  • I guess I Don't get it. THe clouds were cool ,but you could barely see the rainbow. Good capture though.

  • nice

who likes cloudy weather? I love it

  • awesome!

  • Very neat!

  • beautiful!

  • thank you for this video

  • Nice vid. Just FYI, the rainbow didn't move, the Earth did. The fact that you sped up the film made it apparent that rainbows stay still with the light, but the earth is moving away.

  • RevTelkal -- Thanks, but a rainbow's position is fixed by the sun's position relative to the observer. The sun was setting at an angle to the horizon, so the RB "moves" relative to the apparent motion of the sun. Saying that the rainbow doesn't move is like saying that the sun doesn't set - true enough, but we all (I hope) know that the Earth rotates so we don't bother pointing out that the sun isn't really setting. The term "move" is correct in standard usage.

  • very pretty

nice how the sky went black at the end

  • I love the sky, its like a natural laser show.

    V. Cool.

    Andy.

  • wow! very nice! how much did it take in real time?

  • Thanks. In real time it was about 4 hours total and the rainbow lasted about 15 minutes.

  • Was that lightning at the end of the vid?

  • What looks like lightning at the end is really just a few frames with sunlight coming through the clouds as the sun set. It was shot at 1 frame each 20 seconds and played at 15 frames per second, so if the sun breaks through for a couple of minutes it appears as a flash when played back.

  • ok awsome dude. and thanks for posting this video. it is really quite spectcular. :)

  • sweet

  • nice job

  • the rainbow looked like a shooting star 4 a second...but it faded away...

  • yeah boy!!!!!

perhaps some tunes with it though....?

    5*

  • oh wow! t's awesome how the dark cloud rolls in and blots out the sun for a finish!

  • nice

  • wow.....

  • so beauty oh god...!!!!

  • very beauty ^^

  • All you got to do now is follow it

  • Ooo Pretty!

  • How scary yet awesome

  • thats well cool..thanks

  • amazing! looks like a LOT of footage taken to capture this strange beauty!

  • whao... that look awesome =O thanks for the upload :)

  • Thank you! Thank you especially for telling me how often you set it to take a picture. The software that came with my webcam has time lapse on it that you can set the resolution and how often it takes a picture. I have used it a couple of times and I have a couple of videos on my youtube account of my videos.

  • That was beautiful

  • The picts are nice. How did u get the picts to move so fast on this screen. It would be awsome if u added something like mozart's lacrymosa as a background music. Tnks 4 posting!!! keep it up.

  • Thanks. In Quicktime Pro you can take any sequence of pics and play them at various speeds to make a time lapse or slide show movie. If I added music it would be Zappa and I have not asked the Zappa Family Trust for permission. Hopefully there happens to be music on wherever/whenever the vid gets seen. I bet anything would work.

  • that was pretty sweet! =0)

  • That's pretty cool stuff! I like time-lapse stuff.

  • exelente ... adorei o video .

    parabens

  • Was that darkness just due to the clouds or was it getting dark anyway? Would like to have seen a bit more, do you have any more?

  • I have about 10 more from stormy days-same view-a cpl w/flashes of rainbow-variety of clouds. Might post a couple more eventually. The camera ran well past sunset so I cut out most dark frames.

And I agree that it should be called "clouds with a rainbow" but didn't consider it until after unexpectedly featured. Went from 141 views in 4 months to 500k in a week. Too late now-I'll have to take the flames.

  • shit thats trippy :P

    i love it

  • lmao doomessenger, great video!!!!!

It is possible, actually I dont know how, but I did it 1 time.

Oh yeah... By the way: COOOOOOOL!!!!

  • CooL ..

  • Moving clouds, should be the tittle!

  • you should cut it until we see the rainbow cause its a really long

  • it's at 00:37

  • ok agreed, perhaps not the best video of a rainbow. but it's a great video of changing cloud formations and sky coloration! perhaps just mis-titled??

  • his is...so lame. It's a video about a rainbow...and it doesn't show up until the video's almost over...and then it's on for only about a second. WTF? Lame...lame, lame, lame...

  • WTF? Where whas the rainbow?

  • At about 0:37.

  • seeing hte rainbow appear was great!

  • this was sooo cool put it to music please.

  • wow i waited 30 seconds to see a glimpse of a rainbow...

  • wow...some 1-second rainbow...
