  • This is so wonderfull well, making my day, I a music freak and this remember me some old mike oldfield ! Send me a link for buying an album !

  • I never knew Steve Jobs could play guitar this well!

  • Thanks for listening . . . You can't control the loops separately if that's what you mean. But you can make sub-loops and go back and forth between them.

  • Wicked, got to get one!!

  • very cool

  • like it! very john martyn,

if you ever want to sell your didgital echolex please let me know

    kind regards

    E

  • lovely tunes! i have the zonemobius (software that mimic the echoplex) but i have no idea how to use it

  • Sick tune Bro!! You killed it

  • does it automatically synchronize those loops? does it read time off the first loop?

  • @jaikwillis

    No, it's in real time.

  • Nice Parker Fly dude.

  • EXCELLENT

  • is that a mesa? if so, props dude, nice choice, sweet music too.

  • great!, pretty charming sounds, now i want an echoplex and the parker mojo too, lol!

  • Beautiful!

  • very nice in deed............

  • thats pretty sweet i want one lol

  • That's beautiful, thanks for sharing.

  • so i'm trying to understand how the echoplex works. I do a lot of looping on ableton but its all digital nothing analog. I understand that the echoplax is just a rack unit, so what is the footswitch you are using? Do you have to buy a foot switch for the echoplex seperately? also, how is the foot switch connected to the echoplex? thanks in advance!

  • Comment removed

  • hi redavide1. which one is the echoplex? is it the thin head on the rack? and if it is? what is that huge tube-like thing yer playing around? thanx

  • The echoplex is the white unit in the rack. There are two other units below it in the rack -- a delay and a reverb. The foot controller controls all of the functions of the echoplex.

  • wow! thank you man. i'm planning to get one soon. its freaking expensive here in asia.

  • from the sounds of it.you eat, breath, sleep talk, live the life of melody....music is in your veins.much love and respect...COMPLEX......loved it.

  • Thanks for listening.

  • Is this a Gibson echoplex unit? If not, what brand is it? Tim

  • Yes, Gibson bought Echoplex at some point -- this is a Gibson Echoplex . . .

  • I understand that this item is no longer in production, is that true? If so, too bad. It does a really nice job. Any idea what the retail cost was?

  • In my last response I meant to say "Gibson bought Oberheim", which is the company that originally produced the Echoplex. As far as I know, they're still being produced. When I bought my unit about 7-8 years ago, I think it cost about $600. Check out an internet site called "Looper's Delight" if you want to know everything about looping . . .

  • I used to own a Mesa Nomad 55. Greatest amp I have ever owned. I like what you are doing here. Do you like the Parker guitars? I was recommended one... I just never got around to trying them out. Great job with this demo!

  • One can do tricks with feedback that would ordinarily overamplify. Very strange things can be done: play the guitar with puffs of air on strings, paintbrushes, etc.

  • Music is music no matter what is used to write it. You could use your ass cheeks as drums and you nose as a flute and you hair as a guitar and if it sounds awesome people would still listen to it.

  • fine work, sound very relaxing

  • nice,

was like andy summers jammin with daniel lanois

    good stuff

  • 3rd layer sound quite a bit like a piano,nice job

  • oh also do you know where to find a pedal for the echoplex?thanks.

  • dude,great.i have an oberheim echoplex,with old bage,light color,hooked to a mesa/boogie triaxis+simul-class 2:90.And a parker fly, older classic.you have inspired metoget it back together and also create agin.Thank You,and God Bless You,Peace.

  • I hate your inorganic comment.

  • this is unbelievable. really good

  • Love it. If I was in prison with one of these setups they couldn't call it "doing time".

  • really fantastic!

  • Hi...great vid. Are you running with Loop 3 or 4? And the first time you lean over to adjust something...what was that?

  • turning delay on?

  • Thanks for listening. Using LD3.3.2. I was setting the delay time on another unit (wasn't touching the Echoplex).

  • Loved it.

  • linda musica ... muito boa

    parabens

  • This is beautiful. To hell with the nitpickers.

  • I am, sir, which makes it all the more surprising that it is still being used for this 'one-man band' stuff whereas Martin's stuff was inspirational and unique using the old tape Echoplex. I personally used an old WEM Black Cat Vari-speed echo deck with the erase head covered with an old bottle top.

  • There's always an old-timer who talks about how things were better "back in my day", etc., etc. . . . Martyn (that's the correct spelling of his name) simply used what technology was available at the time . . .

  • At least John Martin did something original with it over 30 years ago.

  • It didn't exist 30 years ago. You're probably thinking of the old tape echoplex which has absolutely nothing to do with this one.

  • Keaggy would be proud! :)

  • Awesome, awesome stuff. My Echoplex has been collecting dust because I never could follow the manual. I was going to sell my but after hearing your piece I decided to take another crack at it.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Thanks for the comment. Yes, take another crack -- forget the manual, just play around with the unit and you'll get the hang of it. The manual is OK for reference, but if you try to read it you'll go crazy . . .

  • Man! It grooves like hell! Awesome!

Would you please tell me which other hardware components you used besides the echoplex?

    Thank you!

  • Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you liked it. Besides the Echoplex, I used a Parker Mojo guitar with a bit of reverb from a Lexicon MPX 100 and delay from an old Lexicon Jamman. The amp is a Boogie Mark IV. That's everything.

  • how many loops can you get on the echoplex in total?

and have you used it live? how reliable is it for live use if you know?

  • Check out the Looper's Delight website and go to "Tools of the Trade", then to Echoplex Pro for a full explanation of what you can do with it. There's not really a simple answer to your question, so it's best to look there and see for yourself. I use it live and it's very dependable.

  • mjóg gott. traczu leikur gitar brunnur. fridtjoff.nansen

  • Nice piece. Is it original?

  • Thanks -- yes, it's original.

  • where can i get one and how much are they

  • Yes I want to know too, whats it called Echoplex Digital Pro??

  • very nice!

  • o my gosh, this is gorgeous. Well done dude

  • lol, stop trying to fight the smiles there man. This video is amazing, def makes me smile. You ever think of putting out an EP? You know quit the day job, travel the world? No, but honestly, this is such a beautiful piece. Take it easy.

  • Made you smile? Can't ask for more than that . . . Thanks.

  • great man!!! HEY BRO, i have a question those this works as a delay unit, and if it does, is it good?

  • Yes - basically that's all it is -- a type of sophisticated delay unit. Sound quality is very good. Thanks for listening.

  • Superb.
