Well they cannot write the same structure of song over and over again. I think it's cool how they diverse their songs like they did. If you notice the albums Warning, American Idiot and 21st CB are quite different. Green Day these day are like jesus I mean can't you see the lyrics? they took the lyrics like this to a whole different level and I think that it's briliant. @molly121234 Well maybe you should because to me it just seems fat to gimmicky, when they made dukie it was (not necessarily original since bands like the queers and screeching weasel had been singing that shit for years) but at least it was honest and relatable. The song structures of their recent albums aren't that dissimilar really, apart from the fact that they are massively overproduced and missing the more harsh punk vibe that made them so awesome.
