  • That fucking nigger should have been slaughtered

  • @Detailleader He killed himself from the guilt

  • Yorkshire TV documentary

  • Anybody watching this would definetely enjoy the book "Major Problems in the History of the Vietnam War." By Robert J McMahon, 3rd editiion. That's the one I read anyway. There's an essay on this, and much more similar material. Truly Tragic.

  • @redbrest82

    Solution

  • @redbrest82

You can say what you want but let me ask you a question. The law says it's wrong to steel and posses a firearm with out the proper permissions but has that ever kept the bad guy from using a gun or steeling from some one? We can be all friendly and shoot rubber bullets at the bad guy but is he going to change from led to rubber? NO! If there was a complete sense about war than it just would not happen. But there will always be a determined bad guy and that usually leaves only one so

  • I cant believe we are still debating this 30-40 years later, wait 30-40 years from now and we will be debatin about some massacre that happened in Iraq or Afghanistan

  • @Ph0be 30-40 years from now on, the country between canada and mexico will be called new china ...:-D

  • @CapitanoGUC Lol I hope not xD

  • @CapitanoGUC Lol I hope not xD

  • can someone please tell me the original source of this video? i need it for a research paper!

  • @dangggkendall I think it was a BBC video, not sure though

  • its not simply that these soldiers committed awful atrocities, which of course they did - its that they specifically targeted the weak and vulnerable, in what was no way a fair game..that's not only disgusting but entirely pathetic...

  • @futbolistik True tbh i hope americans and indeed the world watch this there are no good guys in war never were never will be

  • The world is terrible. This is proof. There will never be peace.

  • @FionaBoosh yes there will be peace one day, the people who commited these crimes where brainwashed to kill. It is our government who is responsible for these trainings. We as people must stand up against these training camps! I still believe in peace but maybe instead of learning people how to kill we should learn them how to be tolerant and how to have compassion, empathy ... !

Or we can just say there wont be peace and keep commiting these crimes against humanity! Be Love Red

  • @redbrest82 there won't be peace anytime soon our brains are too small (literally) it's proven in about another 5,000 or so years are brains will be bigger, then we'll be smart enough to learn, right now we're basically smart monkeys.. look at homo habilus's brain compared to the homo sapien.. we're steadily growing (evolution)

  • @area51er6 You dont need a big brain to live in peace bro, you just got to USE whatever brain you have now.

I think that just might be the big issue.

  • @redbrest82 sure me and you know better, but mankind as a whole is still crazy, we're all monkeys!

  • @area51er6 there is some truth in that , i agree we are still monkeys! just little lak of the hair all over the body thing ;-) (and i dont like bananas) ;-)

  • whats worse now is that money and war are virtually inseperable these days, atop of mercenary groups that outnumber our armed forces during our campaigns. These groups get paid more then out soldiers and often times act worse then our men ever would. WE should expect more attrocities to occur in the future, only now there is SERIOUS money to be made. This will get worse before it ever gets better, or until our EMPIRE crumbles. I hope for positive outcome for when that occurs.

  • @mustwinder no one made a movie about russians chopping the penuses and balls of german soldiers and hanging it on there doorbells.

No one will tell you that in history either bro, and no one will make a movie out of it either, you just gotta find out.

just like how american-japanese people were treated in world war 2, just gotta find out.

  • america is the new NAZI germany

  • @Daleksaresupreme1 US is new Nazi? How was it? Your hatred blinds you in reality. Did you ever blame the Sunnis and the Shi'ite for bombing and murdering 100,00 Iraqi or just point fingers at the US military and George Bush? I don't like the Iraq war but saying that US killed 100,000 is stupid. Insurgents cause all of this. The USA has done for the world guess what so does every other country. Unless UK of course butched the Aboriginals in the 1st place LOL.

  • @Hperman09 search these words (Why does the world hate America?) and watch the top result

  • @Daleksaresupreme1 LOL is that are you got? I don't care about that. I understandably How was US a Nazi? tell me?

There was also a website called Vixon.xom that outlined anti-Americans such as yourself and are a shame to a countrymen. Enjyo the internet we gave you. Europeans are shame anyways that foreing media designed to blame to hide you own fucks up.

  • @Daleksaresupreme1 Answer this: Di you think the war in Iraq is for oil?

  • @Hperman09 no i think its to complicated to understand

  • @Daleksaresupreme1 Ok fine i don't care but Europeans countries have done worse than us. hatred blinds you into reality and it turned into another sycle of hate. We may have made mistakes but we have done good. Just like any other country.

  • @Hperman09 yes Europeans have "done" AmeriCUNTs are doing

  • @fabs038 You really think our 60-300 men are an invasion force?

  • @fabs038 Don't put words into my mouth, I did NOT justify this war crime, I am simply stating that no one ever made a movie about Unit 731, they killed millions!

  • @futbolistik Eh...no one ever made a movie about Unit 731 of the Japanese Army, responsible for mudering children via handing out plague-infected candy, dropping anthrax infected fleas over Chinese towns, conducting medical experiments on American and British soldiers without the use of analgesics. Do your homework.

  • @futbolistik You are dead on my friend. America is sick with the denial it projects onto other nations as war criminals. I don't know a single Japanese or German who isn't aware of the atrocities committed by members of their former regimes. No one I know is proud, but they have managed to accept the past, learn from it, and move forward. The US is BLINDED by the countless atrocities committed on civilians and non-combatants. If you're a TRUE PATRIOT, then wake up and face the truth.

  • On this board, instead of an effort to understand exactly why or how a normal human could come to commit an atrocity such as My Lai, I've seen a lot of racism (against US) and blind hatred of Vietnam vets in general. Its just easier to deny their humanity.

If people on this board are willing to steep to blind hate and wish death on whole nations (US) due to some anger they feel due to My Lai, then how would they have acted if it were they with the gun at My Lai? My guess is poorly.

  • Its called A Casualty of War. War is not fun, or it would be called play. People kill and die in war.

  • It's war...what do you expect. Massacres happen in all conflicts. Are you really that naive?

  • thank you, war, for fucking up humanity.

  • Shame on The USA. How dare they launch "Humanitarian War" against Serbia or Libya to "Stop Evil" when the true evil lies within.

  • @KingOfTheCornChips hahahaha you Europeans wanted the war in Libya and you guys criticized us for not going for not doing something about Serbia so when we did as a favor, all the sudden we got criticized by the same people who asked us to take the lead.

  • @publicmario17 Proudly a New Zealander. No wars Since we followed your evil campaign in Vietnam

  • @KingOfTheCornChips. East Timor and Afghanistan.

  • @AnonymanForeverlol Both as peacekeepers not aggressors, in NZ's 7 years in afghanistan they've only accidentally killed 2 civilians, and killed very very few overall. In East timor they killed maybe 5 combatants

  • you join the millitary that's your choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....DON'T CRY WHEN IT BITES YOU ON THE ASS!

  • @rob351973 Daily! Almost as often as you troll YouTube.

  • Guerrilla war. When your fellow soldiers are dying and getting injured and you don't know either will you live the day or get injured or die in the next. Constant fear of dying. One of the worst wars ever - that mentally raped most of people involved in it.

  • has a My Lai type massacre happened in Afganistan R Iraq Civilains are always used by D enemy but it doesnt mean they are D enemy. How can an INFANT be sympathiser and considered D enemy I hope a my lai incident never happens again and yet this is what happens when young men 19\23yr who are turned in 2 trained killers and sent 2war against their will and brought up 2B decent. lets hope it never happens again

  • cowardly bastard. people who dont have the balls to keep their head shouldn't be sent to a combat zone. fucking man freaks because he's "accidentally" (get the feeling he knew she wasn't carrying a weapon) killed a baby and starts killing more. that stupid cowardly fuck should have stayed at home, we need people to do nice stress free jobs, maybe he should have got himself one. a disgrace to his country.

  • @TheJay9002 really??? sounds like u the one with issues. cause its just an average everyday thing to shoot babies?? ahh gotcha musta missed that part.

  • @TheJay9002 i get your point, but when you're scared as shit, hyped up on drugs that the goverment's been sending to you, no one has their head on the right way.

  • Is that Lt. Calley talking from 0:27 to 0:55?

  • This has to be old, these vets look to be no more than 35-40.

  • @mustwinder I read somewhere that this documentary was filmed in 1989. So yeah, most of them would have been in their 40s. Most of them were in their early 20s when they were in Vietnam.

  • the system is so fucked up even today...

  • Everyone who post a comment here is a moron.

  • @SnoopysOtherBird that would include you. And me, too.

  • @riperkill521 I know about our sacrifice for the mission.

  • never enlist to join the army when ur allies include america

  • The same people who call 911 an attrocity (and it certainly was) are gleefully stating that raping, torturing and killing any civillian including elderly en babies is a-okay.

This reasoning is so warped that calling it hypocrisy doesn't even cut it anymore.

You call the other side monsters but when you do the same it's justice by default.

To think I meet these so called civilised westerners in the streets everyday who would rape and kill a 6 year old girl given the false pretence that it's ok.

  • SAT CONG

    FUCK COMMUNSTS

DEMOCRACY FOR VIETANM - FREEDOM VIETNAM

    HO CHI MIM IS NAZIS

  • @rob351973 FUCK YOU COMMUNISTS GAY.

  • @rob351973 - FUCK YOU COMMUNIST.- HO CHI MIN AND POL POT IS NAZIS.

DEMOCRACY FOR VIETNAM - FREEDOM VIETNAM - FREEDOM IRAN- FREEDOM TIBET - FREEDOM PALESTINA - FREEDOM CUBA - FREEDOM CHINA - FREEDOM LAOS. FUCK COMMUNISTS.

  • @USACLINTEASTWOOD there's a huge difference between nazism and communism, but thats neither here nor there. You do know that the U.S has killed more innocent civilians than Mao, right? They funded 23 of the 25 worlds dictators including Castro using OECD. They provided weapons for Taliban. The killed 4.5 million Koreans PRIOR to the Korean War. U.S goverment ordered the rice fields in vietnam and cambodia to be bombed, killing 100,000 civilians. But no one ever questions them.

  • @rob351973 Lick Bin Laden's arse,you coward imbecile.

  • @50poiuyt -LICK POL POT AND HO CHI MIN NAIZS ARSE, TOU COWARD IMBECILE. DEMOCRACY FOR VIETNAM - FREEDOM VIETNAM - SAT CONG.

  • wow..this is just sick..i can't believe that somethin like this could actually happen...i know u have to follow a chain of command and back up ur "brothers" but still..i'd rather be outcasted by my "brothers" n court martialed for disobeyin orders than shoot innocent women n kids..that's just fucked up to the utmost degree

  • @Blade025

Same shit goes on still. People that are mentally trained to follow 'THE MOVEMENT ' will do as they are told. People give up their individuality and don't want to be responsible for their actions so it's easier listening to authority. That's why many turn to religion. They don't want the burden of responsibilty. Most G.I.s were Christians.Like most religious people these days, they wern't able to think for themselves. I would kill myself if I had killed a child just because of orders.

  • who the fuck is giving the order to kill cats, dogs and babies? You much be in hell now.

  • @happyboyy8k no such thing as 'hell' but they most likely suffer from PTSD or have killed themselves

  • Doesnt every war have this sort of atrocities? All sides in a given conflict are quite capable of it as it results from dehumanizing the other side, whether its gooks, krauts, yanks, ragheads or whatever. The moment we forget to see each other as equals we unleash our potential for violence. You can see it happening in the comments underneath already......

  • just show's the world how stupid the americans are and mean and atleast the nazi had a reason kill the jew may a rubbis one but a reason americans get a m-16 and shot women childern

  • @firecard And what reason did the Nazis have to murder Jews in your opinion?

  • @alanheath3 they thought that they were the best and thought they were the airen race plus adolf hitler told the normal germans that jews were second-humans who crimmals which was false

  • Honestly if i didn't know who was an enemy and who wasn't i'd be kinda more trigger happy then most, but from that statement I wouldn't go in a village and kill children and women. I would be really on guard. But how could I say anything I'm not in a war or been to war, but How I see it, the massacre was wrong nazis were wrong and shouldn't have happened. This sad as hell and even more sad that im in 11th grade and just found out about it.

  • I think that the G.I's aren't completely to blame for all these war crimes they commited. The command should be kept more responsible for their actions.

  • I killed 2000 woman and children when I was in Vietnam. I blew up two hospitals but my commander said it only counted as one. LOL

  • oddly familiar... makes one go hmmm?

  • So tell me what's the difference between WWII Waffen SS war crimes and this? Many SS soldiers were 'following orders', but they were put on trial whereas these American soldiers were not. At the end of WWII America turned a blind eye to Nazi scientists who experimented, tortured and killed at the death camps and waged total destruction with weapons like the V2 - but we accepted them to run our space program and laboratories. American government = bunch of fucking hypocrites

  • They did their job. End of story. You can't tell the enemy from the civilian in a fire fight. They were the enemy. I have no pity for the people here.

  • how do you have no pity.

    they killed children and women

yeah their job was to rid of the vc, but not the children/women

im sorry, it was totally unacceptable.

im sorry, but this is not protecting the usa

they went to vietnam to get rid of the vc ans stuff, but not to get rid of children/women

  • @smileycheerer Well, the fact remains that you couldn't tell whether the women or children were enemy combatants or not. Also, intel reported that the entire village was supporting the VC and helping to kill Americans during the war, so I don't have any pity for the people there when they were helping to attack American troops on a daily basis. Moving on.

  • @rtgoodson nooo but they were like children. like i think the gi's did their job, i don't blame them, but i blame the man who decided to like wipe out the village.

the children wouldent help to attack us!

like kill the vc, but i doubt the children would be part of the plan

  • @smileycheerer There are plenty of accounts of women and children attacking the troops. You can make the argument for the younger kids, but to be honest, you don't have time to worry about children in combat. The entire village was VC and they deserved to die. Destroy the village and move on to your next target.

  • @rtgoodson but the gi's didnt have to rape the women and like cut off the men's hands. like they ended up killing over 500 accord. to some sources and only 91 were vc!

i get what your saying, but still, i dont give them an excuse for killing the children, like it's not their faultt

  • @smileycheerer Hey, I agree with the raping, et cetera. But the fact remains that we'll never be able to prove who did what. You can't ask soldiers to go into combat to kill the enemy and then question the means by which they go about doing so. Yes, some war crimes probably occured but that is the nature of war. Crimes always occur.

  • @rtgoodson suppose so. i know like in war civillian casualties are always going to happen. still i dont think they should've killed children, but dont think calley should've been put in jail though. btw, i looked at your profile and your from ga, snap :)

  • @smileycheerer Yes, I'm from Georgia, born and raised in the Metro Atlanta area. Ex-military as well. War crimes always happen in war, and the question only falls on what we want to determine as criminal acts. The fact remains, that these soldiers were asked to go into this village to clear out the enemy VC, and we, in turn, decided to question the manner in which they went about it. Sure, some crimes happened, but the trials and investigation were nothing more than a PR stunt. Moving on.

  • @rtgoodson oooh thats cool you fought in the army :) yeah, like going to war is going to result in crimes, but i think some are bigger than others (ie.nazis) but what they did at my lai wasen't the nicest thing, and they shouldve put them on trial first or something

  • @rtgoodson

Problem is there were no enemies there. My Lai did not have any enemies. What they did when they were living, they will suffer in eternal hellfire. The people that were killed will always be safe in God's hand.

  • @rtgoodson babies, children and elderly women were massacred... and you SERIOUSLY believe that they were 'the enemy'?

  • @emilyhannahlovesyou We'll just ignore the multiple accounts of women and children fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, et cetera. Also, while we're on the topic (months after the original discussion), we'll just ignore the multiple intel sources that identified the village as a supplier of VC fighters and war material, as well as, a major base for VC operations within the area. Did war crimes occur? I don't know and I don't care. Captain Hindsight says, "Who gives a damn?"

  • This is SOOO SAD! I understand the need for the military and the thing they must do to protect our country....BUT this is just wrong....I do blame the men that killed those people, but what were they to do....The blame should be at the top...where the orders were coming from!!! I am against anyone going into the military to be brain washed for money or insurance or to be able to travel...It's all Bull sh*t!!!

  • "The programming took over, I just started to kill"

I'm sorry, wrong. This man made a conscious decision to follow murderous orders.

  • this planet has some sick individuals...

  • @jamiesmith195

He took his own life back in 97, a short article about him is featured in wikipedia. He made a terrible mistake as a young man, and could not cope with what he had done. War destroyed him just like the victims.

  • thank you for the info. very sad.

  • @yellowcougar18

You say this guy 'man a mistake as a young man'? NO. He MADE A CHOICE and committed acts as a young man. The fact that he could not live with his conscience after violating it could be be regarded as a mitigating factor and an aspect of personal redemption.

However, he obviously condiered his crimes to be beyond forgiveness and he passed his own judgement upon himself. Justice was done.

  • He made a terrible choice, I agree, and his acts were horrific, I agree, nobody who was harmed by him lived. He was a soldier, and he was trained not to disobey orders. Calley was pretty much the devil in disguise, who enjoyed the killing, and served 3 years of a life sentence. He apologised last year, yet I doubt he regrets it. This guy took his own life, yet he was under command of calley, no doubt a powerful figure. Those who did not shoot had incredible willpower.

  • @yellowcougar18

I agree with what you're saying but it is still incumbent upon every soldier, as a term of international law, not to obey illegal orders. It is at least a commendable act of sincere repentance that this guy took his own life. There could be no other act that could convince anyone of repentance. I agree that it's tragic.

  • @Grensoorlog

It is incumbent, but, unfortunately, it does not happen. Hence we end up with the Holocaust, and guys who should never be allowed near a bread knife, never mind a weapon. Look at the way Iraq has gone, and you can clearly see that the mistakes of MyLai are being repeated again. Soldiers are harming civilians, raping and killing them, butchering them for no good reason. The paranoia of MyLai is happening all over again. Hagel was right, "Those who fail to remember the sins...

  • i must watch this for my history test, about vietnam and the part of america in it.. it's very usefull,

  • at least the Germans feel bad about their fuck ups in the past, the US and Israelis are genocidal maniacs and they are proud of this...

  • this is sick and disscusting i cant watch no more. that afro is horrible.

  • that black guy gives the silliest excuses ever.

  • @fataslin

That black guy was not giving excuses, he was trying to be honest about what he had done. By the way, his fourth attempt at suicide was successful. IHe eventually killed himself in 1997.

  • got any proof?

  • Yea, I'll get you a death certificate..... You're obviously a douchebag and didn't learn anything from what you saw.

  • not that guy you prat, i mean the black guy with the afro.

  • @Gman745i

Hope he found some comfort, because he was obviously struggling with his guilt.

  • ALL THIS is terrible, it's horrible WAR

  • @patsyd80 hell yeah thats some serious jeri curls going on there!!

  • If you're not affected, moved and appalled by this, then it's easy to say where the problem is. The problem is inside your head.

  • Im not "hating" on the soldiers or americans or anything. But what i will say is that in all fairness the Vietcong/NVA had the right causes and fought for a good reason. S.Vietnam was extremely corrupt and the peasants had little to no rights. Communism was good for the common folk of the south. Just a point.

  • Correct but the word Communism is/was a taboo. Another USA genocide.

  • Frederick562: Bullshit. The fact that the South Vietnamese government was indeed both corrupt and abusive does not mean that Soviet-backed Marxism was a good cure.

In fact, had the US not deliberately backed and propped up a Catholic hardliner who abused and alienated the majority Buddhist rural population (a colossally stupid move, in hindsight) they likely would have garnered the popular support necessary to at least keep the North out and the VC under control. We couldn't do it alone.

  • You are right the Viet Cong were a bad as the Americans.

Both side of the Vietnam war were totalitarian in nature.

  • When you go to war you don't carry a picnic basket, war has been going on for centries and it will never stop, just look at our world today it's everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    R. COTTEN E-4 USMC 1967-1971

  • Every country in the world has done horrible things at some point. The important thing is to learn from them.

  • We have not learned from them. America #1!!!!!!

  • why they want kill innocent people

  • Is that Rodney King?

  • Can you imagine that - dead bodies on top of you? Roman Polanski had the weight of his mother on top of him during WW2...unbelievable.

  • Soldiers of no conscience.

  • yanks are shit

  • Only a dumb shit Brit would say that, fix your teeth mate!

  • Only a dumb shit yank would say that, stop killing people mated!

  • I'm Canadian you fuckface! Take care of your own problems in Britain, you have many and stop worrying what the Americans are doing. You don't live there and you don't pay taxes there and you don't vote there so buttout -- asshole -- before they decide not to rescue you again when your Muslim population takes over your asses..

  • What makes you think I'm black you racist little sensitive bitch!

Have that hairy man you call your girl plant your cotton you fudge packer!!

  • Yes, Britain never killed anyone...They just colonized half the world and raped, tortured and murdered everyone already living there (rolling eyes). Get a life, dude.

  • @JSS262009 This isnt about america, or any other country, its about what those men did.

  • @1992jamo

Exactly, its not just about what country anymore, any country can commit these atrocities.

I've seriously lost all hope in mankind.

  • @JSS262009 So that means we're banned from showing an interest in history, or from making documentaries? um, yeah.. I think YOU should 'get a life, dude'.

  • Americans are all criminals!

  • Comment removed

  • Lose some weight and spare some super size huge burgers for the starving African kids please!

  • You call americans ignorant, yet you come up with shit like that?!!?!?! Have you ever even been to america?

  • been to america?well,do I have to,really?

  • YES. You Do.

  • rapists and murderers in friendly territory in vietnam didnt save the world from imperial japan you mongoloid

  • Youre an idiot, we lost vietnam, and we still have our asses. So please explain how it saved my ass? We lost, and I still have it.

  • This is truly unforgivable...during WW2 the allies made many mistakes and commited their own attrocities (The bombing of Dresden and arguably the atomic bombs) but even then they were fighting the enemy...this was just murdering innocent people who some even saw as liberators...this is as bad as the "Rape of Nanking" whom their fathers were avenging only decades before.

  • pffft.

you cant really just skim over dresden like that, that was still a pretty extreme case of innocent death and excessive violence

  • Its a well known fact that dresden was planned for a civilian target.

  • Comment removed

  • The whole vietnam conflict was a warcrime. And kinggerrard mylai was a villege of farmers basically. no resitance at all. it was indeed a massacre. Everyone involved should of been charged with murder. There could of easily been mutiny against this. Be a murderer or be disloyal?? Animals all of them.

  • yeah well, in hindsight its much easier to criticise

  • your right it is, but who the hell tells the US to get involved in anything that goes on in this world that they don't like ?

  • I am truly ashamed to be an american, it is a shame they dont show stories like these on tv here, stories like that guy who is messed up from killing all these people, who the fuck would join the Army, who the fuck would want to go to Iraq

  • There are animals like this in every nation. Did you know they were gonna make a movie about this, starring Bruce Willis as the guy who investigates the squad who murdered the people? The movie got canceled though, after the writer's str

  • he said that he knew he'd have to kill "women, children, dogs and cats" ... why did he not kill himself before doing that???

  • i am a royal marine i am not pround off is this we were on patrol afganistan and we came under fire from a building we were pined down in this countyard and takeing fire from RPGS and AK47 we then called in a air strike because a lot of our mates were dieing after we went in to the building and the top floor was full of taliban and on the ground floor it was full of kids we called a air strike on a school but we did not know it was a school i not proud of it but i would do it again

  • a soilder dose what he is told to do and fighjts where he is told to fight i am in the royal marines and i have done things that i did not what to do but you do them because you are told to them if you dont then your mates die thats what happen in war in a war its kill or be killed and i have killed so that me and my mates can live thats a fact of war i am a soilder and i have done things that i am not proud of but that is what soilders do we do things that other peopel will not do

  • what they did is wrong but u lot dont know what war is like i am in the royal marines and have been to afganistan and let me tell you its not nice i have lost mates out there and its hard to take especially when you are being shot at all day long we were shot at by this man and then he walked in to a crowd of women and kids how can u fight back when this is happening now dont get me wrong i am not defending what the men of Charlie company did

  • who forced you to become a soldier? if you don't like being shot at why don't you quit? !conscientious objection for those of you who do not want to torture, rape and kill just for the fun of it

  • ever heard of conscription?

  • i havent, il google it

  • I can´t held it, but the older i get, the more i hate the human race, and think more often that life is a shithole!

  • i agree with u...

  • In life..you have to fight conformity and do what is right. Don't be a pawn for any government.

  • intelligance? inteligance? learn to spell you hypocrite.

  • Intelligance of USA? since the american dreamed to rules the wolrd fater WW2,tell me the one days thier inteligance has given a truth report, all r fake, all rubish, soon great brith empire ,USSR fall, fall os USA will began, more faster then them
