  • you make my life complete now!!! i didn,t know what happened after the maze...thanks!

  • 3rd game was my favorite

  • I dig it

  • The only way I ever completed this was because of the bell that would lead you through the maze.

  • Was thinking about this game, thanks for the memories. It was damn hard back in the day, no hints as to where you find the stuff. Of course, there was the "pause" trick, lol. Only game where you can buy the legendary stuff...

  • I needed that. thank you.

    wooow.

    Dava

  • I'm sure I fought a different dragon. Wtf.

  • "We never knew the dragon was a robot, did it come from another planet?" Fucking japs and their game endings man they must have been high as fuck when they made this

  • this is in my top 3 master system games, i still havent beat it to this day but im gonna have another go now

  • Hundreds of hours of my childhood summed up in two ten minutes clips. Awesome. What was up with the flute part when you climbed the ladder? What does it do? I have never done that before. I also never faced that wizard boss either. I'm tempted to hook up the system to see the stuff I've missed.

  • @harrypottersdaddy It's a side mission to get the bell or the ruby for the end. If you do the side quests, you'll see at 8:43, the monster will give you one of them. The bell rings for the maze, tells you which exit to take to proceed. The ruby does massive damage against the dragon at the beginning (one shot item). It's used automatically.

  • *tok *tok *tok *

  • Finally, I've learned the answer to a question that's bugged me all my life: does Wonderboy3 follow on directly from Wonderboy2, was the dragon in Wonderboy2 a mecha-dragon too?

I'm glad the answer is yes. Now some small part of my childhood can sleep happy in my subconscious. =)

  • @JCLeSinge

Me too, just now. I've wondered about that for about 20 years.

  • I used to play the hell out of this game back in the 80s. I haven't seen it in probably 20 years but I could still remember all of the secret shop locations. I never could figure out that damn maze at the end and never beat the mecha dragon... at least until I got Wonderboy III for christmas. It was cool to finally see the end of this one!

  • its a shame you skipped the maze, i liked the funky beat!

  • lol man thats why i wanted to watch the video.... how did you get through the maze????? that was the lvl i always died cause i didnt found the right way ... and now you skip that???? -.-

pls show the last lvl how to find the right way through the maze plx plx plx plx

  • im pretty sure i beat it the drageon at the end seemed familiar in hindsight....good game..thanks for posting

  • You're missing out on a lot of hidden gold.

  • Totally loved this game!!!

  • Good thing those arrows are directing you to the right! Otherwise you might not have known which way to go!

  • where was the steps i mran seriously you hacker you used an emulater and cheated hacker!!

  • fantastic! i played this so much as a kid, and managed to complete it.. who would of thought the dragon was a robot? nuts. great job man!!

  • All nostalgia. I could never get through that long maze at the end

  • Come to think of it, this guy has lots in common with Link... He even plays the flute :)

  • I used to play that game a lot when I was like 10. Reached the dragon several times but could never kills the mecha. The ending was kind of a let down after all these years ... ^^;

  • We never knew that the dragon was a robot. Did it come from another planet?

  • OMG he turns into a Dragon at the end !!!!!!

  • this game fucking rocked back in the day, sooooo damn unforgiving!

  • I had this on the Spectrum, well I did but I could never get the fucking thing to work, came as part of a compilation of US Gold arcade conversions.

  • in 1:52 where you play the flute, there is something very good on the cloud left. I dont remember what it was

  • Dam I could never find my way through that maze!!! Good to see what the dragon actually looked like!!

This brings back loads of memories. I loved this game!

  • If anything this game is underrated, the difficultly level is perfect, and there are so many hidden features. Easily one of the bast games on the Master System.

  • Awesome Game! I loved it! I always thought the Grim Reaper was a ghost with a gasmask, I love my phantasie, when I was 7-9, lol.

Awesome Video, I never made it to the final dragon, always died in the stupid maze.

  • If this epic game for the SMS isn't enough, time for you to go back to the Turbo Grafx!!!

  • The Original game played at Sega Mega Drive was much longer and much more wonderfull... My Sega console is still playing ^_^ m I miss this game

    Biomeka

  • Game is crazy easy....

  • thanks alot i never got to see the finish of this game and now after 18 years i have cheers for that video

  • THATS WHERE THE FREAKING DRAGON WAS!!! I got all the way to the point the lady ask Ruby or flute... Damn... Ending was a letdown

  • Ahh nostalgia. Very nice edits btw. Makes it fun to watch.

  • You are legendary at this game i thought i was good, you didn't even get hit till half way through the game and made easy work of all the bosses well done man. wonderboy is like the grand daddy of RPG's thanks for posting.

  • I nostalgia'd all over the place, thanks uploader.

  • lol "all over the place"

  • wait, the final boss was a fucking robot dragon? That's fucking retarded! It's monster land, not monster/alien robot dragon land!

  • maybe its a digimon

  • 5:42

    man bear pig!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    XD

  • heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

    lock at 8.51 - 8.53

you jump a parto of the video

your live goes down and your score go up

    fuck

  • you're great ! i did 251 000... lol

  • whats going on with the last maze?where's it?

  • Vai ser Viciado assim no INFERNO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for posting this..I missed this game so much :)

  • I had to use an emulator and keep using save states to beat this game.

  • THERES A SCECRET DOOR TO SKIP THAT GOD DAMN MAZE??????? My whole life has been a lie!!!

  • lol no, I edited the video to skip the maze. Read the description :)

  • why u pick ruby instead of the bell?

  • If you know your way through the maze the ruby makes more sense. It weakens the dragon

  • @vedder530 Of course there is a way to skip the maze. You have to get all the items, starting from the letter till the ruby or bell. I don't remember which one is the correct one however. With the bell or ruby you can access to a secret door near the yellow one of the last level that allow you to go directly to the dragon. However you have to figure out if you need the ruby or the bell.

  • WOOOOOOW! I had this game once but sadly never found out how to do the maze in the castle, oh well now I read how to do it I wonder if I can now. Is the a vid for that stage? Big thanks

  • This was my favorite game on Master System. I've unlocked all secret, too :)

  • The blue rats are the most annoying thing in this game.

  • Very very nice run!

    Learned a few more coins!

    * would have been great to see you run trough the maze tough.

  • When I completed this game it was one of the most emotional moments of my life...its true..

  • 1:50 - wtf ? oO

  • Question: Where the hell do you get the flute from????

  • At about 05:13 in the first video. Catherines secret door on the right side of the shield shop.

    =)

-now why do i remember these old things :)

  • the blue knight really got owned.

  • necklace and harp give points, helmet reduces damage and glove gives extra damage to enemies.

  • "whoa dragon was a robot! that came outta left feild, maybe it came from another planet?, oh well you be the judge" best ending ever.

  • I had wonder boy 1 and 3 I never got to play this one so I downloaded it onto my wii. Ive spent more time playing this game than any other haha number 3 is still my favourite tho

  • I had 1 and 3 as a kid too and never won either, I also just downloaded it on my WII today. My first fun I got lost in the maze at the end, so I watched this vid to see how he did it but he cut it out! Crap...

  • haha lol, take the bell instead of the ruby

(when you are about to take the correct path its gonna ring as far as i can remember ;P )

  • Really? That's awesome! Thanks a lot, I'll give it a shot today.

  • it still will be a little bit confusing to find your way though, but its gonna help a little gl

  • lol shawner002 i'm right there with ya

  • Oh man! This used to be my favorite game for the Sega. Phantasy Star and Miracle Warriors, too. I feel old!

  • That blue dragon is annoying...

  • wow what an ending! haha

  • oh the last boss is the first in dragons trap

  • is this better then the NES version

  • che nostalgia :( cmq grazie per il video ;) mi hai fatto rivenire in mente bellissimi ricordi... grazie ancora!!! :D :D :D

  • I used to beat this game all the time on my Sega Master system! Haven't thought about it in years!!! Never knew you could skip the maze though...I had to always choose the bell until I memorized the maze... then could get the ruby and beat the dragon!

    thanks for posting the vid...

  • Kinda looks like link

  • I beat this game 1 time. None of the games made today are as dynamic as this. secrets, treasure, hard as hell, and fun-- they always for the fun.

  • That secret door at around 3:50 is complete bullshit. That's the BAD kind of hard right there. Fuck that.

  • what the hell, where did that wizard thing come from at 3.17? ive never seen that!

  • he didnt skip look at his score b4 and after! he just cut it out! doh!

  • to play it!

  • i used to hate this back in 88 i think, as i was playing the orig arcade version nearly every day, i was addicted, i think i was 13 at the time, it was stargames, llanelli, wales, uk, yeah my mate had this on his sms, but i rediscovered it in 02, as i was trying to find the orig, and this was the best i could get, next to the genesis/megadrive version, yeah really enjoyed it! took me 3 months to complete, although the graphics arent as good, anyways discovered mame, and like 17 years on managed

  • awesome mate i used to play this in barry island here in wales :P had the arcade cabinet! didnt know it was on the SMS till much later :D Now I love playing it! one of my all time fav games!

  • You mean to tell me the whole labryinth was skippable LOL???? I must have tried to find my way to the dragon well over 30 times as a kid and this was one game I never got through...

I don't think I missed much in terms of an ending though LOL

    great video :D

  • SOOOOO nostalgic!!

Although I don't remember being able to walk on water though?? But this took me back for real! 4 stars!

  • He skipped a lot of secret places for cash. He seemed to know the basic ones for the most part. I always had the armor of legend by the end, mostly because of all the hiding spots of cash. Then again, I spent WAY too much time playing that game when I was a kid. Awesome post!!

  • This game was hard, but yeah, he skilled the maze in the last dungeon. The hardest part of this game was getting the legendary equipment with the gold. Thank god someone told me about the pause trick to gain some extra cash or else I would never be able to beat it with all the stuff.

  • Man I never knew you could skip the whole labyrinth, never found my way out of it.

    Excellent video!

  • how come you dont show the labyrinth in castle of the dragon?? thats the most interesting part

  • I don't remember half of these areas and played through to the end.. I guess some areas are skippable?

  • i know of 2 who are skippable but you only loose coins extras and a sword if you skipp em

  • Gosh, this brings me back to my childhood. I could never destroy that damn robotic dragon!

    Thanks for that!

  • i didnt even come so far lol and i found so many hidden coins lol

  • i completed this when i was like 6 lol

  • What i love about wonder boy is he is such a polite person. Knocking the door before enterg to stab 'em in the face. I wish more people had those sort of manners.

  • Excellent video(s) for an excellent game.

  • Peace has finally been restored ... until next game. Wonderboy III is incredibly damn good compared to the II.

  • isn't that the same robot dragon that ends up putting the curse on him that starts WB III?

  • Yes, that's the one, and the story continues in Wonderboy III (or Dragon's Curse for Turbographx)

  • wonder boy 3 is way to easy

  • i still have that game and system, its still the only game system besides computer in my house

  • wow holy shit, how long did it take to discover all of that hidden shit?

  • Signs of a wasted youth trying to finish this game on one quarter in the arcades. I was surprised I still remember almost all the locations after all these years. :D

  • seriously? well you're not the only one surprised XD BRAVO!

  • I used to play this at my friends house this game is cool

  • Cool, that has to be the fastest time I've seen anyone take out the final dragon, and you even got the ruby!!

  • The final door was hidden!!! I went through that dam maze over and over again and never got to the leader. I played that game when it came out and I still play it from time to time but I have never even seen the dragon. Dam the door was hidden.

  • lol the final door is not hidden. I took out the final maze level out of the video cause it took around 6 minutes to complete and was boring. Also in the video it looks like I'm knocking on the well but I'm actually knocking on the end-level door, wonderboy turns invisible because he is flickering. Because of the quality of youtube video, flickering characters will turn invisible now and then.

  • No the door wasn`t hidden besides that the Maze is almost the same as in the beginning of Wonderboy 3: Dragons Trap if i do remember it right. Becouse i know that the last Boss in this Game is the 1st Boss in Wonderboy 3 but for some strange reason the player itself turns into a dragon. Maybe becouse the story is in another Dimension but that is only a guess.

  • no the maze in this game is much harder, and the story in WB3: Dragons Trap is a direct follow-up to this game although they ditched the idea of Meka escaping into space seen in the arcade version of the game.

  • Ahh i see couldn`t quiet remember the last Maze and never played the Arcade thx for the infos.

  • kinda weird how the final boss door is hidden. Also the techno dragon...outta NO WHERE! [nyroom] righ tover my head.

  • Wondefull run thx. Alianger which version do you mean? I thought this Game came only on SMS and maybe Arcade.

  • I meant the PCengine/Turbografx 16 version, which was renamed Bikkuriman world for licensing reasons(?) and not released in the west.. hmm so maybe it's not an obvious choice over this one :P But it seems superior.

  • Wow i only knew about the adventure island game which obviously was the same game known as wonderboy 3 Dragons trap [SMS] on the PCE. Yeah PCE Games aren`t well known but they are definitly superior in graphic i dunno about Gameplay thou.

  • great run! But why the sms version?

  • All my runs are on the SMS so far :)

I might do arcade runs in the future. The SMS version is the best home version, it's also got a couple of new bosses who are not in the arcade version.

  • Isn't the PCE/TGx16 version better though? I've only played it for like 5 mins but it seemed clearly superior, at least in gfx and sound aspects. Still great to see another Wonder Boy run, love these platform/rpg hybrids.
