there is no such thing as metal bow. and there is as well no such thing as wooden bow are for advanced players. (probably what she's doing is convince us how advance she is. but she isn't) and this video title should be changed cause she didn't tell use how to use a bow.
@NukleheadMcSpazatron Yes, you're right. And in another video titled "Scales for beginners" she just plays on the open strings, which are out of tune. She doesn't even know what things are called.
This is a great online violin site! Check out this video for more information. :D It's much more than just a bunch a videos strung together. It's a real and customizable course.
all commentators have nothing to do with teaching violins.. all are just heckling, i want to learn the basic and i look at these commentators site and nothing , just nothing to learn but hecklings.. i want to play just play basic hecklings, err violin.. hahaha
But i have learned to play basic violin here, she have done her part on me..

this girl probably already committed suicide because of negative comments to her... in her vids, she's very confident that what she's saying are correct LOL alot of people disagree so :P she'll get depress cuz she found out that she's not good and commit suicide :P ^_^ and why am i smiling lol!
Good bows are made of pernambuco; student bows are made of brazilwood or fiberglass. Carbon fiber bows are taking an increasing share of the market and can range from quite good to pretty bad. I have never seen a metal bow, can't imagine that it would play very well. I'm not sure what your fixation with mahogany is; it isn't used to make either violins or bows although it does make some pretty nice furniture.
well i just started to play the violin, and i must say that when i compare what this woman says to what is available through other means (aka Master Classes, actual violin teachers, the web), about 50% of what she says is inaccurate. This is unfortunate because i picked up poor technique and not to mention inaccurate terminology.
What a fool this woman is! The tension screw does not "force" the curve of the bow. The curve is already there. It pulls the frog down and tightens the hairs. It's the tightness of the hair that pulls the stick straight, not the screw. Metal and mahogany bows?? She's just making this crap up as she goes along.
In my studio, students learn the bow hold very quickly using the Bow Hold Buddies[tm] bow accessory. The accessory keeps the hand relaxed and fingers in place while we learn more music.
Flag this video for 'scams/fraud', because that's what it is! I've never heard such nonsense. Her philosophy must be 'when I don't know what I'm talking about, I'll just make it up!'
Don't Teaching if your want to angry!!!!.Suck voice maybe her way to show that she didn't want to make this video seriously and your characters not show that you are musicians. sorry.. .amatures video
I notice that ViolinMasterPro advertises on Amy's videos. Does that mean that she's pushing that website, or that she learned from the ViolinMasterPro Professor.
I've wondered about that guy anyway. He shows NO examples of his teaching--zilch. But he makes huge claims. He also gives NO syllabus. You have to buy the course FIRST to find out if it's worth it.
Well I did--and it ain't!! Now, looking at Amy, I see why, assuming he's her teacher.
hey i would just like to know ive been playing for years and have never heard of a metal bow or a mahogany and would like to buy one because i could really see the benefits of using a metal bow and have been waiting for something as light, flexible and strong as metal
sorry. metal bows dont exist. this crackwhore hasn't the slighest clue what shes talking about. and also, no offense, but a wood bow and a metal bow if it did exist probably wouldn't make a big difference in weight. and a bow shouldnt be flexible in the way you are most likely thinking of. as for the strong part, just be careful, and you can always buy a plastic bow if you are worried about breaking it...
i was just pointing out how stupid she was for anticipating the existence of a metal bow and not of my inexperience because i am actually quite experienced and have done a few classical concertos in public
If you'd done a simple Google search for "metal violin bow", you'd have found out they DO exist, and you wouldn't look like just another YouTube jerkoff commenter.
ok you fucking idiot if you can give me the link for a violin bow composed completely of metal (except for the hair and frog) i will accept that you are right but in the means time you are just another you tube jerk off who has no fucking idea what they are talking about
Jesus, Corolla, you can't block me, although since you're apparently insane, you can just pretend you blocked me.
Who says I didn't find a metal bow? I found several, and found out it's a characteristic common to antique bows. It was easy.. if you are smart enough to do a Google search for "metal violin bow".. which you're not.
ok no that im blocking you let me just point a few things out violin bows are and alway have been wood, i am not insane and you are a 31 year old who thinks it is a good idea to get into an arguement about something stupid with a 19 year so because you are so old im assuming you have a wife and family and ask them if they think you are being stupid for aruing with someone who is 12 years younger than you and is only a second year university student
not enough rosin will make no sound. too much rosin and your violin will look like it got snowed on. if its a new bow it will need a lot of rosin, and new rosin tends to be trickier to put on. try gently scratching the rosin with a key, that will help it go on.
Mahogany?????????? How could you possibly think that your bow is made of mahogany????????? You can't make a bow out of mahogany! Call up a violinmaker, or open a book. Educate yourself. You are the biggest fraud I've seen on youtube so far. Bows are made of brazilwood or pernambuco. Period. Get a teacher. Maybe you'll eventually learn something.
You really are out of your mind. There are no bows made of metal. Those student bows are made of fiberglass or composite carbon materials, NOT metal! I really don't know how you could possibly believe there is such a thing as a metal bow. Very pathetic.
maybe make a video yourself and be helpful , cuz so far this chick has been the most useful on youtube and you just sound like a jerk 'very pathetic' calme down fella.
@fraggleferret That's not entirely accurate. I inherited my violin from my grandfather, and it has a metal bow. How do I know? I can stick magnets on it and it sounds quite metal to me whenever I place it on my metal music stand. It all depends on the manufacture....
@fraggleferret....Before you mouth off on YouTube, professing your ignorance AND arrogance, do some RESEARCH....There ARE violin bows made of metal...chromium molybdenum (chrome moly). A type of steel allow, I've seen one, and played one. Plays well, and sounds ok. These were precursors to carbon fiber. A beautiful bow.
All violins, whether good quaility or terrible quality, are made out of spruce and maple, the top being spruce and the back being maple. I strongly recommend staying away from the very cheapest instruments, as they're basically toys and don't really work, no matter what the ebay description might say! Buy a decent quality student violin from a reputable shop, which means a violin maker's shop, not a chain store.
Speaking as a New Yorker, I would say you can get a decent beginner violin for about $200. But be very careful where you buy from, since most shops sell 'violin shaped objects' for this price, rather than a decent functional instrument. I send my students to Shar online.

Metal? The tip steadies the bow? Tightening the hair to the point where the stick is straight?
Lady, you have no idea what you are talking about and you are going to destroy your bow if you keep treating it like that.
