  • This is my fav. :P Your missing the drums. :C

  • Anyone know where I can download the MP3 file for this?

  • I actually said Mmm when I listened to this one, it was so delicious.

  • It's all making sense now! When the Master looked into the Time Vortex he gained the power to break the fourth wall!

  • @jimbear62 they did this is it.

  • Did'nt they try and make an American version at one time?

  • 0:30 to 0:35 always sends a shivver down my spine.

  • I know that the consensus is that while the film was pure detritus McGann was a really good doctor. I hope he does appear for the 50th in 2013, he deserved to be the doctor for longer than an hour and a half on screen. Judging by Luther he is still in fine acting form and judging by his big finnish audios and how he got an upgraded costume made for him by WETA he still likes Who related projects. Fingers crossed.

  • This is my favourite rendition of the theme tune, even though it lacks a bit of punch.

  • The drumming 0_o

  • Amazing film, bought it on dvd, REALLY did not expect it to be that good!

  • @thedoctor2199 true the plot sucked but man i was really sad cause that doctor had soo much potential.

  • I love this theme

  • This movie sucks. But the 8th Doctor is awesome, and so is this version of the theme tune.

  • 'Skie sof pruple green and yellow! yes!!!!' 'what?' 'These shoes! they fit perfectly!' randomness from number 8

  • best doctor who theme ever

  • should have this as the theme

  • The film was pretty good. If you ignored some of the worse elements (the doctor being half-human and the master becoming a snake), it was brilliant. Modern doctor who has more in common with the movie then it does with the classic series. Romance, awesome soundtrack, self contained episodes and a focus on drama.

Paul McGann was (and is: He still does the big finish audios after all!) my favourite doctor, and I hope he makes an appearance for the 50th anniversary episode. Possibly as a series?!

  • the movie was cool :)

  • Anyone who says he isn't a real doctor is wrong because of this fact- We saw him regenerate out of the 7th Doctor!

  • best doctor who theme

  • McGann was great in the movie. What killed it was everyone else...especially Eric Roberts... Didn't mind the music...and the fact that the special effects were done by, of all people, Wally Cleaver!!!

  • I don't like the newer versions of the theme, In the old ones, it was this pure electronic sound. In these, it sounds like a synthesizer, it loses that spectral otherworldly quality.

I think they should get Alessandro Cortini to try and do the theme on his buchla.

  • Eh. This is a good song in its own right, but it only barely feels like the Doctor Who theme, to be honest. Most fans of the series have always liked the original theme, that had a very electronic feel to it, whereas efforts to incorporate orchestral sounds have been largely met with scorn.

  • Best theme ever! Wish Paul Mcgann did a series!

  • @drwhosnippets he got a series.

    in book/Audiobook form.

shame, I liked his outfit in the movie.

  • @DoomsdayOdd And Doctor Who Magazine didn't do too badly by him either...

  • This is one of the best versions of the theme tune, along with the fifth Doctor's, the eleventh Doctor's and the second version of the tenth Doctor's themes

  • FOR CRYING OUT LOUD I WANT MORE EIGHTH DOCTOR!

  • 90s kicked ass!!

  • EPIC MYOOOOOOSIC

  • I love this theme, so need to see the movie sometime!

  • @LeonSKennedy828 ive got the movie i could upload it mabe

  • @jampox101 Several people already have, but thanks for the gesture nonetheless.

  • matt smith is somewhat like the eigth doctor.

  • Meh, not that bad...

  • Don't you hear it? The drumming? The constant drumming!

  • @badcompanyization THE DRUMS! THE DRUMS!

  • It just had the crappy bits...

  • the drums

  • anyone would think that paul mcggan could be little bit like tom baker.

  • I'd be intrigued to find out where you got this track from?

  • sum1 needs to start a petition for the time war movie to be made starin paul mcgann on face book get enuf people and saend it to the bbc

  • Man i would love a Time War movie with Paul McGann regenerating into Cristopher Eccelston at the end....8th Doctor rules!!

  • @AndroidMrk3 This. VERY this.

  • @AndroidMrk3 I would not. The Time War was such a greatness that any form of media depicting it would never be able to do it justice, not to mention all the money in the world wouldn't be able to pay for it....Or so Word of God says...

  • @AndroidMrk3 They could still possibly make it, the actors aren't too ol yet.

  • @AndroidMrk3 have you seen my video?

  • @AndroidMrk3

And if it would fail to live up to what has been said about the Time War? That's why Moffat won't show the Time War on-screen. Not enough money in the world to show it AND do it justice at the same time.

  • I really love this epic theme. Not too sure about that opening bit, where it sounds like it's about to launch into a 1970's disco remix, but that orchestral swell is just <3

  • I loved him as the Doctor. And if anyone knows where I could get a copy of the movie...im pretty sure it was never released on video, but if I could download it or something. I've only seen it once...

I'm excited though as I will get to meet the 8th Doctor at a convention soon!!!

  • @223rddoctor If you're an American like I am, you'll have to either have a DVD player that will play the UK Region DVDs or you'll have to hope SyFy or another channel shows it on TV and record it.

For some reason, the rights have not cleared for an American release of the "Doctor Who" TV movie yet - which is a bit ironic given that it was filmed for an American audience.

  • @jadewarlock I've seen it for sale at Sci-Fi conventions for years, going by the alternate name of "Doctor Who: The Enemy Within"

  • The movie was terrible, but McGann was amazing as the Doctor. He should come back - he even wants to, but is just not likely.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree, the story was crap (although enjoyable) but he was great. Very Time Lord.

  • It's possible if they do a Doctor-Doctor meet up like Time Crash they might do it.

  • I want to see an 8/9/10/11 crossover. It's been done before.

  • I reckon the problem with that is that Christopher Eccleston doesn't want to come back.

  • Actually, the longer they wait after he left the show, the more likely nostaligia will kick in and he'll be willing to do a cameo.

  • That's a fair point. They COULD always do one with every living Doctor who is willing to come back for the 50th anniversary.

  • @JamiePS3Howitt I don't know about that - *minor spoiler ahead*....

In "The Eleventh Hour" they had a scene where all 11 Doctors were shown - which did include a shot of McGann. They are recognizing him as the eighth Doctor, so I'd say if he's interested in appearing they should let him - but not with that bad wig again - either have him grow it long or have a more civilized hairstyle.

  • This movie DOES fit the canon what with the 7th doctor and whatever. I just find it very hard to believe that the Paul MaGann Doctor & the Chris Eccelston Doctor are the same person on the inside... just very different

  • The drumming... the constant drumming... (its so obvious in this version) O_O

  • The drums... the never ending drums...

  • The heartbeat of a Time Lord! :D

  • @SuperCactusman Obviously when the Master looked into the untempered schism, he saw these credits. The paradox of an excellent Doctor in a terrible movie is what drove him mad.

  • @Morhek Indeed! He was only trying to kill the Dr. to show us more truly what unter crap the movie was.

Because even though it was crap, sylvester mcCoy and Paul McGann distracted us from this XD

still, great Dr and pretty damn cool them music. The saddest part is how great it COULD have been.

  • @SuperCactusman -Blades open. We want our Mister Master! xD

  • Great theme for a great movie and a Great Doctor.

  • Forshadowing :p.

  • I am however partly glad the movie didnt catch on in the states as they didn't really want to continue the series so much as do Americanised remakes of the old stories, destroying the epic continuity of the show

  • Through the movie had its ups and downs I would've liked to have seen McGann reprise the role on live action, as it is he is the most outstanding doctor in the alternative media, radio dramas, books etc and one of the longest running doctors if u count these in addition to the tv apperances.

  • even though the film left something to be desired i enjoyed it because i was so hungry for doctor who since the bbc gave it the chop back in 1989 right when the series was getting intense with the seventh doctor and ace. paul mcgann was a brilliant doctor i loved him too bad his doctor had only one movie but, thats what happens when they try to americanize a british programme.

  • paul mcgann is offically classed as the 8th dr becoz it was a bbc worldwide tv movie ... peter cushing is not an offical bbc dr as the film was made by a different company ..... that it why you see the regen from 7th to 8th dr ....... then the 8th dr had the pleasure of dealing with the TIME WAR .... that is why he regenerated into the 9th ....... im hoping one day the bbc will show us what happened in the time war

  • I believe he was cannon because he made an appearance (along with all the other doctors) in the 2008 Christmas Special "The Next Doctor".

  • Excellent theme music. Paul was an awesome Doctor. The film was the biggest failure ever. Such a terrible film.

  • mcgann was probably the first 'modern' doctor and its a shame we never saw more of him, thank god for big finish audio plays

  • Doctor Who Movie any 1 know which 1 and were i can watch it plzzzzzzzz im begging u

  • I saw it here on youtube for the first time in years. I saw it when it originally aired on FOX back in 1996 as well.

  • My friend has selective canon amnesia when it comes to #8. i include McGann, but she just glosses. Mind you, she never watched the entire movie through... I agree with akiugn on the US series though...It would have changed the entire course of the shows history and tennant would (probably) never have arrived on the scene....

  • I don't get this you see, he is the 8th Doctor! The BBC says so, everybody else says so, and fan's say so!

  • Most of the fans say so. Some claim that due to the lack of TV episodes, 8 falls into the 'non-canon' category with Peter Cushing and the "Shalka" Doctor

  • IMO, Cushing is the Doctor, but not a regenaration. He doesn't fit anywhere int othe 11 lives. If you know what I mean, kind of crazy but... The Shalka Doctor, not familiar with it, but he was the 9th till Christopher Ecclestone was officially it.

  • They don't fit "official" canon but they are appreciated. some still believe #8 falls into that category

  • I believe Mc Gann would have been a successful Doctor, he never got the full tenure to prove it due to disputes between people wanting to make it with the preceeding lack of money to fund the show to bring it up to date.

  • atchily he is a arsom doctor the the big finish audeo dramers

  • It was made for the wrong network here. It should not have been done for FOX. They obviously did not understand it.

  • @THEDOCTORSCHANNEL1 He was a successful Doctor... just not a TV Doctor.

  • @THEDOCTORSCHANNEL1 Though he has had a successful run of audio adventures.

  • @THEDOCTORSCHANNEL1 he really should have had a seires because i thought he was amazing as the doctor

  • i wish paul mcganns doctor would have at least got a five year series ive read all the eigth doctor novels and they are out standing especially the ancestor cell novel which recieved a prestigious sci fi book award. paul mcganns doctor was a cross between tom bakers doctor and peter davidsons doctor which made him absolutely brilliant but, i hated they made him half human how degrading.

  • What I get that happened is that the film was relativley well recieved by most Dr. Who fans but the american audience didn't think much of it, so they didn't follow through with a new series, that's just what I gathered.

  • i cant seem to find the movie. just scenes and fan-edits. if any of you could be so kind as to provide a link.

  • Doctor Who didn't work over there either the americans didn't understand it, it was with british elements that confused them. The movie failed perhaps because it wasn't made in the uk, the movie fell through in america, it was a success over here.

  • It also aired on a bad night with very little fanfare. I think FOX was trying to bury it on purpose. They are known for not being a very supportive channel. The new "Terminator" show is getting the same time slot, so kiss that one goodbye too.

  • If I recall correctly, it went up against Roseanne, which utterly thrashed it in the ratings.

  • @THEDOCTORSCHANNEL1 being an American who has watched Doctor Who since Tom Baker was the doctor, I loved the movie. you're right, most Americans didn't get it because most Americans had never watched the show. Plus Eric Roberts as the Master didn't help

  • @THEDOCTORSCHANNEL1 Explain what "british" elements you're talking about?

  • @THEDOCTORSCHANNEL1 Doctor Who had a cult following over here has well. It was too much money to bring Doctor Who to the states as time went on.

  • @Renagade70: Ah, but it HAS come back to the U.S. Or should I say, it WILL in Series 6. There's been an extensive amount of filming around the U.S. in past weeks.

(By the way, it never did actually come to the U.S. for the TV Movie. The filming was done in Canada.)

  • @THEDOCTORSCHANNEL1 I am a American and sometimes I am completely baffled at what makes it as a good movie over here and what doesn't. Seems a huge chunk of movies I like are not big in movie theaters and vice a versa. From What I see of Doctor Who (which right now I cannot or have not started to watch) It seems like a true gem. Wish I can get the BBC over here to watch it. but have to wait till I get to buy them.

  • @THEDOCTORSCHANNEL1 I don't know why it didn't do well. I'm American and I loved it.

  • @THEDOCTORSCHANNEL1 I am a American and I am all excited to watch Doctor Who. I have only watch clips and stuff to this Date but I am getting this movie later today and I am sure its a great movie. Sad thing to admit I was introduced to The Doctor though Family Guy's Movie Blue Harvest.

  • I love this tune, just dont like the movie. If only it wasn't Americanised. I have nothing against Americans... Its just Doctor Who is British... In my opinion.

  • Doctor Who is indeed British

and I will NOT watch it because of Eric Roberts (The master should have been British)

  • Well, technically he wasn't playing the Master per-say. He was playing an American human who had his body taken over by the Master, it makes sense that he was American. But maybe I'm just splitting hairs lol.

  • Finally...somone who talks about the movie without talking **** about us Americans. We appreciate it. And yer show.

  • No problem, Americans make awesome programs, im a massive fan of Heroes. Just felt Doctor Who was a British program and it was a little odd that the film was made in an American style.

  • We don't blame you

    have a hug...

  • personally I don't think the failure of the series had anything to do with Americans. The over-sea's counts for the show were through the roof and even the American audience gave it a favorable attendance.

The only problem was that FOX wasn't really all that interested in it to begin with - and if it couldn't carry itself they weren't going to pick it up because they're MORONS :P

  • I'm American, and I absolutely agree. Fox tried to make it too much like a, well Fox show. I've been a fan since Tom Baker. The Doctor half-human? Shiver...

  • :) Im glad you all agree. Its nice to have a decent, civil conversation on Youtube. I have been getting a lot of crap recently from people on here.

  • Thankyou. I'm actually glad it wsn't a success in the US. If it was then they would have made a whole 'Americanised' season, and more. Which would have practically destroyed the series' original background.

  • I think NBC or CBS should have done it, might have turned out better a little then.

  • NBC, you mean like Knight Rider? :P

  • this is in the movie

  • Where can I find this?

  • cool!!!!
