When I was younger and afraid of the monsters in the dark, I always imagined Maleficent protecting me from my nightmares. That is one of the main reasons she is my favorite Disney character.
When the someone as important, like the Queen, address someone else other than her husband as "Your Excellency", you best remember to watch what you say when you are dealing with Maleficent.
I love Maleficent's dark sarcastic sense of humor, when she says, "Oh dear what an awkward situation!" HA HA! that is hilarious! She is the best villain ever created and ALWAYS will be!
when i was younger, i used to be terrified of maleficent, but now, the more i look at her, the more i think, if lady gaga and voldemort got married, she would be their child
Oh my god! when I was a little kid, I was so scared of Maleficient. Even though in my opinion wasnt the most evilest disney villain, she was the most scariest.
The thing with maleficent that makes her so haunting is that she acts like the typical psychopath, unlike most other villains who acts "crazy/goofy" or god forbid "sexy" (it shouldn't be over obvious) cause actually manipulative/insane people are often very sophisticated, calm and elegant unless they snap of course. Just like Hannibal Lector in silence of the lambs, he has the same chilling cold yet "controlled" behavior.
And also, it's because of effects and her.....laugh >.<;
@Eruaphadriel Thats what it says in the old story thats been told for centuries, way before it became a Disney movie. I guess its because there used to not be many other sharp objects to sting your finger on? lol i suppose. I also noticed in the original snow white, the reason why shes named snow white was because when her mother was pregnant with her she accidentally stung her finger on a spinning wheel, causing the blood to somehow drop into the white snow, hence snow white. Random indeed xD
I wonder why she wasn't invited. Maybe her invitation got lost in the mail. Or maybe because she doesn't bring anything yet she takes all the leftovers. Or because she tells really lame and racist jokes. I'll bet she clogs up the toilet too. Or she'll bring a gift that she found at the last minute at the pharmacy. And while she's there she buy the cheapest booze but get wasted on the most expensive stuff or she buys Shasta Cola instead or Pepsi. Or even worse maybe she's a double dipper.
without a doubt, the most brilliant villain ever created. i love her voice, her style, her face, and the way she enters a room. :) no villain can compare. <3
best disney villain ever! was her for halloween (if you want to see it b/c it came out incredible its my haunted house midnight syndicate awakening vid. even pose w/ a guy in a realistic pig costume. spent hours on my makeup and love it.) she's a great character to dress up as
Thumbs up if you agree Leah should've said "How dare you!" instead of "Oh, no!" and Stefan should've called Maleficent a "demon" instead of "creature" when he says "Seize that creature!"
Soo..no sweet 16 for sleeping beauty i guess..lol.no seriously maleficent(malevolent+magnificent) is one of the best villains and i agree with the person above.style is the key word.as a kid i only kept watching this movie for her and not the cheesy stuff.best scene is when she transforms into a dragon.. **dies**
Thornspell is book that tells Sleeping beauty and gives ton of info of the evil fairy, that she used to date with the king but was rejected and the king married the other fairy(queen in present) and was jealous. She cursed Aurora to die because of her mother's fairy powers within her were more than the evil fairy's. And that maleficent was rejected by the fairy kingdom because she wanted power, and that is why she appears in their world.
I wish they had given more background to Maleficent's character so we'd know why she's so evil (there had to be some other underlying reason to condemning Aurora to death other than "wtf I wasn't invited to the party"). Obviously she wasn't invited because of her maliciousness. I wonder what evil things she'd done to the kingdom in the past...
Wow, I pity the poor fool who snubs the Mistress of All Evil... Hey Maleficent, Justin Bieber didn't invite you to the premiere of his movie! You gonna let him get away with that?
@ValentinaBelmonte HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH LOOOOOOOOOL OMG I'M SO CRACKING UP! YOU ARE SOOOOOO RIGHT!!!! LOOOL XDDD That Maleficent needs hardly a psychologist!!!!!!!!!! XD

Oh Maleficent! My darkest darling! I always loved her. I remember watching this with my gran as a kid just so I could marvel at the glory of Maleficent's badassness.
Yeah, the reason Maleficent is so effective as an evil villian probably boils down to one word: STYLE. She enters, speaks, gestures and leaves a room with brilliant STYLE. She never trips or stumbles on her long black robes, or ruins her moment in the spotlight with a mistake.
The Wicked Queen from Snow White was similar: STYLE with a chilling, haunting sexiness behind it. Well done.
Well... yes, her voice is ok, but try to listen the italian version with the great Tina Lattanzi's voice. This one it's not even close to her performance.
It's the usual problem with american's voices: always good but too rarely excellent.
@Rickardlem Do you speak Italian? The curse is terrifying in other languages but I'm not sure it's better performance. When I don't know the language, I hear differently-pure sound like music. I think this actor is excellent-her inflection changes from coy to murderous. Her delivery of 'and die!'-not too melodramatic-I think is the best but all the actors try not to overplay 'and die!' It's impossible to know how English sounds to non-English speakers. But the laugh is universal.
I AM Italian (unfortunately). However, of course if you don't know the tongue you will only hear meaningless sounds. I know both Italian and English and I assure you that, at least for this one, the Italian voice is better. But it's not that strange, It was Tina Lattanzi, a great italian actress, and besides I think that for some uses (like dramatical effects, tension and similar ones) Italian is better than English. Maybe the only thing left for us, pitiful Italians.
@Rickardlem italians arent pitiful dearest the only reason that we use english and all learn them is cause they are [rude and easy] around 60.000 words and 1 book of grammar make the word easier italian greek chineze egypcian are too difficult for most people to learn so as your neighboor-greek i tell you that we need feel more proud to use our languages instead of easy english :)
that's quite the entry she made. The exit, not just perfect escape, but the laugh is the laugh of a figure of pure evil. Maleficent literally means "evil-doer".
@hey1546 The sound has to be quite loud, as she hits the floor with the staff with such anger and force; also we have to remember that they're all in a big room within the castle.
"They don't invite her because they don't want her...yet the queen refers to her as "your excellency"? " - Gandalf54231
...
Probably because if she said anything less respectful, she'd get tortured with lightning. Watch part (2/6) for a glimpse of how she treats her minions.
To anyone reading this, I'd suggest pausing the video, and then when it's done loading, scroll through the video until it gets to one frame at 33 seconds in.
this used to scare the shit out of me, i used to have to fast forward it and then i could watch it. its strange because i LOVE horror films now and basically nothing scares me.
love maleficent she really didn't scare me too much as a kid. now the evil queen from snow white scared the crap out of me lol she still creeps me out XD
I Love this Dark Atmosphere and the awsome Eleanur Audley! ''Before the sun set on her sixteen birthday, she shall pick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die!''its just Brilliant!
Not necessarily all of them, there are some male villains who exceed most female villains. It's just Maleficent who exceeds all the others. @NiNjABUg22
That said, putting Maleficent with all the male villains would have them all subserviant to her, if only for her looks. Just picture the scenario here, "all right boys, you obey my every command and one day you might get to kiss me" etc...
@NiNjABUg22 Chernabog, The Horned King, Dr. Facilier, Scar, Shere Khan, Jafar, Ratigan, Gaston, Hades, Shan-Yu, and The Evil Coachman from Pinocchio were all great Disney Villains, and none of them are women.
Hello! Can anybody write the conversation? I like this voices, but I think the best voice of Maléfica (Malefecent) is in the Spanish version of 1959. Please, write the conversation =)
Do you mean to write the conversation from the video into the comments? If you're looking for a text version of the dialogue, you could look up "sleeping beauty script" on google; then when you get to a page that actually has such a script you could do a "find on this page" search of "what does she want here" and you'll get right to this video's dialogue.
I haven't watched Sleeping Beauty, but I like how it has a pretty villainess.
I have to wonder why so many Disney movies seem to generally pick ugly villainesses, (Cruella, Medusa, etc.) since aside from the complaint that it looks like it's implying that ugly people are evil (a complaint I don't agree with, but is worth thinking about) I myself furthermore find it harder to take ugly villainesses seriously, as shallow as that may sound. (Then again, Cruella and Medusa were comical anyway...)
last disney movie was tarzan. After that everything was 3D. If I remember correctly monsters inc came after? And shrek...and then 2D animation was forgotten...
Lol if she was just invited to the party none of this stuff would of happened lol......n i hear lady Tremaine"s voice from Cinderella you know its the same voice
When I was younger and afraid of the monsters in the dark, I always imagined Maleficent protecting me from my nightmares. That is one of the main reasons she is my favorite Disney character.

@hey1546 The sound has to be quite loud, as she hits the floor with the staff with such anger and force; also we have to remember that they're all in a big room within the castle.

Isn't she beautiful?

Maleficent's design is so gorgeous. And oh my /god/ the backgrounds.

Probably the most appropriately named villain: doer of evil things is what Maleficent literally means.

Aurora's birthday was a borefest anyway. What would Maleficent do if she wasn't invited for Christmas?!

Strange how all of the best Disney villains are women.
NiNjABUg22 1 year ago 45
Not necessarily all of them, there are some male villains who exceed most female villains. It's just Maleficent who exceeds all the others. @NiNjABUg22
That said, putting Maleficent with all the male villains would have them all subserviant to her, if only for her looks. Just picture the scenario here, "all right boys, you obey my every command and one day you might get to kiss me" etc...
neoYTPism 1 year ago
@NiNjABUg22 Chernabog, The Horned King, Dr. Facilier, Scar, Shere Khan, Jafar, Ratigan, Gaston, Hades, Shan-Yu, and The Evil Coachman from Pinocchio were all great Disney Villains, and none of them are women.

I have a little bit of Disney trivia for you all: no one at knows who did the voice of Aurora's mother the queen. DISNEY FAIL. haha
hillevifan 1 year ago
maybe she chose to remain anonymous. voice actors don't have to have their names listed if they don't want them.
Cloud198422 1 year ago
@hillevifan So? >_> only a few people know who did the voice of Jessica Rabbit...
XODeadlyDianaXO 1 year ago
@hillevifan That's not true. I do.
If you must know, she was also voiced by Mary Costa who also played Aurora in this movie.
"Like mother, like daughter" I suppose.
Anyway, I'm not entirely sure why they didn't give a voice credit for Queen Leah, but whatever, what's done is done.

all that just because she wasn't invited to a party? man, she sure holds a grudge hard doesnt she?

Hello! Can anybody write the conversation? I like this voices, but I think the best voice of Maléfica (Malefecent) is in the Spanish version of 1959. Please, write the conversation =)
50MalvayOro50 2 years ago
@50MalvayOro50
