Not a masterpiece - that is far to big a word - but a curiously haunting song. Shame about the sentiments expressed in the lyrics. They make him sound shallow - walking away from a love that has died to find pretty, but vapid, city girls that he can use whilst drinking himself stupid, whilst reserving the option of going back for a bit of emotional sustenance if his future goes pear shaped. Mmmn ... nice guy.
