it's actually not a 4.0, he's got a european diesel which is a great motor, the neewer ones,certain years and he put a maserati turbo on instead of the stock one

Nope, its a limited 2000 grand cheroke (f*&^ spelling) all there is is neutral 4wd low and high. They do sell after market transfer cases, wid a 2wd, for the limited 2000's, but they are like 1000 dollers and i'm broke as balls from the supo charder...ha

Ah ok. I have a jeep cherokee (not a grand cherokee, i'm not so posh yet hehe) and it's stock at the moment but i'm impressed to the balls with it! Maybe invest in the 2WD when your not so broke? It's a shame they don't do manuals (as far as i'm aware) for the 4.0?

That'll happen when you drive a rwd vehicle, into a corner, thats covered in sand and press down on the throttle...

i think his suspension is super stiff unless you floored it during a corner ( witch it doesn't look like he did) there is no way the back end would break free that easily.

The suspension doesn't have to be that stiff, the XJ is extremely light, especially in the back. My 2WD 5spd 4.0L 2 door '97 Cherokee wieghs less than 2900 lbs, I can step out the back end easily without using the e-brake.

Over ten years of driving my XJ I have had definite times when my driving improved notably. Driving off-road in Arizona helped me learn to slide the back, jump, and pick a fast sand line, learning to compression brak with the manual transmission made me faster in turns, learning how to use a bit of lift throttle oversteer to set the weight for a corner made me even faster, and driving in snow and ice in Washington got me even better at sliding the rear end.
