David Ackroyd turned down the role of Gary Ewing on Knots Landing. He wasnt available for it at the time.Bet he wished he had been.Course Ted Shackleford hasnt done a whole lot since 1993 except a daytime soap that people dont watch much anymore
@HUSKY57887 no .David Ackroyd was born Orange, New Jersey, U.S. in 1940 while Dan Aykroyd (notice the spelling of the last name) was born Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1952. it is common mistake though
Believe me, Pat Williams' theme was MUCH BETTER (and more appropriate sounding, given the series' 1953-'54 time frame) in season one; CBS simply wanted a more "contemporary" version for season two. In fact, the network's "FOLEY SQUARE" (1985-'86) theme has a similar-sounding orchestration, with obligatory sax. But it was decided this "illustrated" opening just wasn't appropriate enough, and a "live" montage of the cast and "scene highlights" was quickly substituted.
That's very good artwork. Now if they could only retool that godawful tune, you'd have a pretty solid opening. But then you've got the show itself, which is mediocre at best

This theme redo reminds me somehow of the end credits of "Family Ties!"
(Sha-la-la-la!)

@Aeolis7 Guess the theme was a last ditch effort to get ratings . Give it a more modern feel

Where the heck is Alan Alda? And what's with the cheesy elevator music?

Is David related to Dan?
HUSKY57887 1 year ago
Nope, Dan is Aykroyd, while David is Ackroyd (although the latter could be an Ellis Island variation of the name).

This was a good show really. Too bad it didn't have a longer run.

This show had potential

A playable version of this song on Rock Band would, no doubt, make you the coolest person in the universe!
