People who don't believe in god are atheist. We atheist do not tell believers that they are wrong. We say to those who believe that there is no proof of a god. Once proof is provided, then we will believe. Now, you can say that since we exists that's proof enough, but your're wrong. Existing does not prove god. Hey Dari, long time no check my channels. Yeah its been a wild semester. Great hair by the way. On topic: statistically children raised in these types of families are with their fathers I think its like upwards of like 90 percentile.
Not to say that society buys into things because of statistics, but I'm just saying. Another "odd" statistic is that children raised by single parent fathers tend to be better adjusted and make more money, if the statistics are to be believed, than by single mom.

I watch a lot of TLC programs as well. I agree with you about Sister Wives. If a polygamist family is healthy, happy, self-sufficient, in agreement, & don't require government assistance, that's their business. The religion you're talking about where polygamy is ok is Islam. I know there are other belief systems that support polygamy, but the Qur'an actually includes the concept of polygamy as a way to worship God (Allah). Akon is a Muslim with multiple wives (I think he has 4 as of right now).
I agree with your opinions, but I'd like to say that the law against polygamy was made to protect women from being in those relationships, which quite often do not work as harmonious as in the on this show. I think the law was very necessary at that time.
But now, the law shifted from being a law for freedom and basically women's rights to one of oppression and prejudice, and that's where it's gone wrong, I think.

Dude! I thought the same thing about Sister Wives, I think it's really not that bad - you expect this misogynistic kind of lifestyle and it's totally not like that. Our America with Lisa Ling on OWN had a segment on polygamy going into communities where people had walls built up to prevent others from observing their "illegal" lifestyle...it was eye opening to see that the women had ALL the power in choosing which man they wanted and it wasn't about men collecting wives because of greed or sex or whatever and there was so much love in all of those households.

I started watching the show a few weeks back. I caught the episode where they went to Harvard for a speaking engagement. I thought the show was fascinating. Judging from the show, you can see that the wives and the husband is in a consensual relationship. The kids are apparently not being harmed directly from parents relationship, and are getting proper care. To me, those things are the most important factors in determining if the wives and husband's relationship is a valid one.

I'm about to get philosophical. What is good? What is bad? what is happiness? There's arguments out there about how far do will society consider things socially 'okay'. I agree with you. The hate towards Sister wives come from Religion. Most people think it is wrong for a man to have more than one wife(I agree,but if it works for them then who am I to decide if it's wrong), most people think marriage should not be same sex (I don't agree, you can't decide who you love). I watch a lot of TLC programs as well. I agree with you about Sister Wives. If a polygamist family is healthy, happy, self-sufficient, in agreement, & don't require government assistance, that's their business. In this case, good intentions are not enough to keep a family like the Brown's going. Meri, Christine, & Janelle are sick of Robin (check her attitude when she first enters the family). The kids are unhappy & rebelling in Vegas. Kody is misguided spaz who is in way over his head.

Keep watching... The wives become jealous of each other and some of the women start to become insecure about the new younger prettier one. This is as interesting as watching a car accident; you want to watch it but would be a fool to want to be a part of it.
The man is greedy and lacks love and compassion for the women and children. How many women (or men) do you know that want to be # 2 or 3 in a relationship??? And, how would you like to spend your childhood explaining 3 moms and 12 sibs??

The religion you're talking about where polygamy is ok is Islam. I know there are other belief systems that support polygamy, but the Qur'an actually includes the concept of polygamy as a way to worship God (Allah). Akon is a Muslim with multiple wives (I think he has 4 as of right now).

I agree with your opinions, but I'd like to say that the law against polygamy was made to protect women from being in those relationships, which quite often do not work as harmonious as in the on this show. I think the law was very necessary at that time.
But now, the law shifted from being a law for freedom and basically women's rights to one of oppression and prejudice, and that's where it's gone wrong, I think.

I love sister wives. I agree with everything you said here. I'm a tattooed pierced girl who loves a tattooed pierced girl and it's always surprising to me when like an interracial couple or a less decorated gay couple gives us the side eye. I, for one, never judge what people do. If they are happy, healthy, and not stopping what I'm trying to do, then we're good. Great vid.

Dude! I thought the same thing about Sister Wives, I think it's really not that bad - you expect this misogynistic kind of lifestyle and it's totally not like that. Like I'm a total humanist and I would be the first to call it out if it was horrible and the people were deluded but they're not. They know what they're getting out of it and even though I have NO idea what they see in that dude, I can understand the situation and the love between them. So yeah, that's my two cents on it.

Our America with Lisa Ling on OWN had a segment on polygamy going into communities where people had walls built up to prevent others from observing their "illegal" lifestyle...it was eye opening to see that the women had ALL the power in choosing which man they wanted and it wasn't about men collecting wives because of greed or sex or whatever and there was so much love in all of those households.
Sister Wives sounds really interesting now, off to Netflix!

I started watching the show a few weeks back. I caught the episode where they went to Harvard for a speaking engagement. I thought the show was fascinating. Judging from the show, you can see that the wives and the husband is in a consensual relationship. The kids are apparently not being harmed directly from parents relationship, and are getting proper care. To me, those things are the most important factors in determining if the wives and husband's relationship is a valid one.

Children and animals cannot fully consent to sex, so that is rape and harms them, even if you think they are consenting. When most people say, "you should do whatever makes you happy," most people mean that as long as it harms no living being. If such an attraction isn't acted upon, there is no harm.

Adult humans can take advantage of this relationship and because of this unfair power structure, consent is not fully possible and abuse is therefore occurring. Even when a child, or animal, is molested, just because they experienced pleasure does not mean they consented.

The best comparison I can come up with for what I mean by "unfair power structure" is adults and children. I realize, however, the animals you are referring to are sexually mature. Do you believe human children can consent to human adults? What other signs of consent do you believe there are from animals?

I know there are other religious groups that do polygamy/bigamy too but I don't remember....but anyway I heard about the show sister wives and I didn't really want to watch it at first because I firmly believe in monogamy but I might just watch it now that you described the husband more..great vid.

I'm about to get philosophical. What is good? What is bad? what is happiness? There's arguments out there about how far do will society consider things socially 'okay'. What are things considered always wrong socially even if it makes some ppl happy? Cause any weird thing can make someone out there happy. I never really had an opinion on polygamy cause like you I don't want to be married. I feel like do what you want, be happy but don't hurt anyone or thing in the process.

I agree with you. The hate towards Sister wives come from Religion. Most people think it is wrong for a man to have more than one wife(I agree,but if it works for them then who am I to decide if it's wrong), most people think marriage should not be same sex (I don't agree, you can't decide who you love). Just like the hate or dislike to homosexuals, transsexuals,Race, etc, most of it steams from Religion and people twist it this and that way. I'm more spiritual than religious by all means.

I havnt seen the show, I might look in to it though.. but I gotta say im against it cause its strickly male dominated thing. you wouldnt see one woman married to 4 men. and they might work around the jalousy issues on camera, but I dont believe everything can be as easy for those women as it seem. maybe its cool for the kids, but I sure wouldnt wanna be one of 4 wives. I think its a manipulating thing, and I think (without having seen the show) that it's also somewhat a manipulating tv show.

I think this stems heavily from how obsessed people are now a days with knowing everyones business, espeically celebrities.. So many people stay up on information that isn't even their business, that it gives them this sense of entitlement to judge and comment on other peoples lives.. Look how many stupid people add celebrities on Twitter and start commenting on things they do that they wouldn't even know if they hadn't read a gossip mag that day or watched TMZ.. People need to back up.
