How grand it is to see the elegant, upper class in a waltz. The French aristocracy set the baseline for these lavish gayla events, but it was the plantation South that embellished it to eye-popping proportions as the skirts got wider with more expensive materials and the men were dashing in lace and silk cavats as Cotton was picked beyond the walls of their massive, white columned homes.

I think the writers got the idea from it, what is really ironic is at Nik's birthday party in 1998 also at Wyndemere after Tom's arrest Stefen says it was lucky no one got hurt cause bad things can happen and 9 years later at the same place Emily was killed and Emily's dream was to dance with a prince...

The upcoming Black & White Ball for November Sweeps is going to be anything but romantic people. Nik does propose to Emily again, and of course she accepts, but they introduced Anthony Zacharra and Nik's blackout rages so close to when Sweeps start (10/26) for a reason. . . .

I loved Stefan and Katherine, too...until Katherine was with Nikolas. I didn't like Katherine and Nik together. He was just much too young for her. Katherine could be a lot of fun, especially with Lucy. I like her a LOT better than other characters who've come since then.

This was when GH was truly wonderful soap. I would trade all the dumb explosions and mob plot lines for true romance and gala balls like this and the Nurses Ball. Guza and Co. can't even begin to compare to the old days. Thanks for the memory.
