No that's not really the point at all. This is a Christian song. Christians believe (or should believe) that God grants us free will, and because we have free will, God no longer stays in direct contact with mankind, lest he prove to us His existence and thereby violate man's free will to believe and do what he wants. Essentially, the lyrics of this song describe perfectly what most Christians (ie, non-Catholics) believe or should believe. God is "dead" in the sense that he is absent from Earth.
The words "God is dead" are spoken from the point of view of God. He's saying, essentially, "Okay, since you won't listen to me, now you can try life without me for a while."

However, you can't prove that God DOESN'T exist, because to do that you would have to be able to see every possible place of existence all at the same time and see that there is no God in any of those places. The words "God is dead" are spoken from the point of view of God. He's saying, essentially, "Okay, since you won't listen to me, now you can try life without me for a while."

Actually, it's theoretically possible. All you have to do is see God. However, you can't prove that God DOESN'T exist, because to do that you would have to be able to see every possible place of existence all at the same time and see that there is no God in any of those places. To do that, you would, well, have to be God.

That's true. But God is also a scientific likelihood. Think about it.. science offers NO explanation for how all existence began or how all matter, space, time and logic came into being. There IS no scientific explanation, because science states that nothing can be created. Obviously, everything WAS created, so scientifically, this proves that something above all laws of science and logic had to have been there initially to have created all else.

I agree, though I would say that God is a scientific fact, since repeated, and repeatable, empirical evidence (my personal experience with God; not seeing him, but other interaction) should suffice to establish a fact.

Haha well you're totally misunderstanding the science here. Giving birth is not creating anything new, no new matter is created. If someone does not eat food and drink water while pregnant the child will not grow. Why? Because the matter of the food and water is directly converted into the body mass of the fetus. So already-existing matter is simply becoming other matter; nothing new is created at all. Everything in the universe has come from something else that already was, until the beginning.

I will admit, i was wrong in that particular example, but nowhere in modern science is there a law that nothing can be created. Find me a specefic quote that says such, and a reliable reference to back it up, and i will concede, but until then i stand by my point that there is no scientific proof, or likelihood of god existing.

Yes but all matter is energy and vice-versa. Matter becomes energy and then energy becomes matter. For example, I drink a bottle of water, that water is mostly peed out again later but some of it becomes energy which fuels my body.

True, all matter POSESSES energy of some form, but is not inherently energy in itself. Also, in response to your statement on the law of conservation of mass. The law of conservation of mass applies only in a closed system, whereas no matter may be created or destroyed in said system. Outer space has been deemed endless by scientific minds, and as such, is hardly a closed system.

That has to be the FIRST "Pro God" argument I have EVER heard that actually had some sense to it! =D I'll give you this: There may well have been some sort of otherworldy force that created the universe. However there is no evidence that supports the idea of divine INTERVENTION. So if there IS a god, it certainly would be nothing like what the bible would have us believe it to be. It possibly created the conditions for life, but not mankind directly.

Thank you for the compliment, but the enormous world of theology is full of "pro-God" arguments that are very rational. They are simply hidden from the majority who has no interest in discovering them. Ever since medieval Christian times there have been great theologians, such as Pascale, who defined Pascale's Wager, a very successful attempt to prove that one must logically believe in God. I definitely concur.

It is a flawless argument because it operates directly on the "atheist's" most prized philosophy -- that everything is based on logical decisions, and one naturally has no reason to do anything that has no benefit. Ergo, one would be operating irrationally to ultimately disregard God's potential existence, rather than embracing the possibility of God's existence and gaining great reward. I think God would smile upon that rationalisation.

I forgot to add that this song could perfectly fit the story of "The Rapture" or something like that ("Come to me, my faitful sons; angels, close the gates of Heaven [...] Let them take just what they want"). Also, "Here's the news for you: God is dead" << that's what God would say in the context of the song.

There it says this is a "concept album" and it's all about mankind becoming immortal (just listen to the start of the album), then God "leaves them behind" for that, and then at the end of the album, the last song (Now that you're gone) talks about life is going back (children born again) and says that He's back to us

many of the people who don't believe in God is because they can't see that the mistakes that the ones who represent him on earth commit, aren't God's command, but their fall to the human temptation of following their own selfish interests. Because of that there are every time more people who doesn't believe, more people that serves God but not the Church, and more people that builds the Church in their own way.
