back in old days of martial art when smone had a critic to do about a martial arts teacher at least they had the balls to go to their dojo first. Now in modern days ppl can hide behind their anonimous and mindlessly smack. while in fact thats is bad for them cos they just can never learn anything new. judging what u dont even know is to easy. And martial artist dont pick the easy way.
why people provide such nice videos with such stupid music? this is a martial art not a freaking musical show. wake up morons and show some respect. whatever music you like, does not need to be imposed in everyone else. go and place your favorite music somewhere else.
@8525125 You put waaay to much faith into cage fighters, they may train hard and fight hard but they'd be in jail if they went around picking fights everywhere. On top of that cage fighting has 1 major flaw that was just pointed out to me that I didnt think of. Its a fair 1v1 fight...in a real situation, NOTHING IS EVER FAIR. If someone wanted to rob you blind they'll either use a gun or they'll have accomplices.
@8525125 An Aikidoka(person who practices Aikido) would never walk up to an MMA fighter and start picking shit. And an MMA fighter would be pretty foolish to do the reverse. When they get locked into a pin, the ref calls the match or lets them out. If that happens in the real world, they'll either walk away from the fight or have a limb broken.
@8525125 People really have to stop comparing Aikido to MMA, first of all get your head off the f'ing Tv for a second. MMA, Mixed MARTIAL ARTS. MMA is not a martial art of itself, it combines different martial art techniques. Second of all, MMA fighting is a sport with a barricade of rules. the founder of Aikido had 1 rule "Stay Alive".
@CheetaReborn i totaly agree with u i also think that that ring fighting is not real life fighting because if someone wants to atack u on the street he will jump on u with full strenght he will not run around u and try to find an opening and than strike..Aikido doesnt realy work in ring fight and it is not meant for ring fight it is about real life situation.
@GokiGandalf A good point I overlooked, in ring fights both people are prepared to fight and know who they have to focus on. If you have to defend yourself in real life thats not a luxry you recieve. Plus most people aren't stupid enough to rob someone 1 on 1 unless they have a gun. I'd like to know a ring fighter would do if he got ganged up on by multiple opponents.
Fighting on the street and fighting in a cage are 2 very different things. That is like saying because a special forces chap got his ass kick in a cage that the military close quarter combat is not effective. The fact of the matter is most of the effective moves in Aikido are not allowed in cage matches I.E. single joint locks and wrist locks. So yes when you are using a art made for real combat in a sport situation they don't always work out.
@killabee108 Wrist locks are perfectly admissible in MMA. Small joint manipulation is not (under standard rules), but "small joints" refer to fingers and toes, not wrists and ankles. I have no idea what you mean by "single joint locks"—most joint locks attack a single joint. Interestingly, in vale tudo competition where small joint locks *are* allowed, they don't seem to change outcomes much (people full of adrenaline tend not to tap out to broken fingers).
@haggholm being mis informed is different than being full of shit. But being a asshole about proving a point is very straight forward. I admit that I was wrong about what I said about the locks. Your point was put very well untill you had to throw in the last part which just made you out to be a asshole. Thanks for the info though. I very much so mis spoke so I am sorry about that. I still stand by my miltary/combat arts do not work as well in the cage as they do in a real life situation.
Well Aikido is mystic i would say ,to achieve this kind of technics ,which for some people look unrealistic is take A LIFE TIME OF TRAINING if you don't feel what you do ,is just a BRUT FORCE. Very nice video THANK YOU SENSEY FOR SHARING WITH US.
@thopas yes very true, i was a little bit surprised by "Ki" Aikido, these attacks r not realistic enough, i kind of expected nage to have back facing uke; so they can sense where the flow will come; using "soft eyes" & "muishen" to detect unseen threats, given the "ki".....oh wells
@aikiwolfie If you believe that then you don't understand how Aikido works and I highly doubt you've ever tried it. This fluidity is due to being a high rank. You'll find it in any upper dan of Aikido. Aikido is all about blending with your opponent and using their own strength to take them off balance.
@CheetaReborn LMAO. It's true. Get a compliant uke and anybody can make technique look effortless. It doesn't take a lot of skill. I studied Ki Aikido to 3rd dan for 10 years of my life. I know the pitfalls to be found in obsessing over what a technique looks like. Something Ki Aikido practitioners are particularly guilty of. How effective the technique actually is, is what is important.
Great video. It really captures the beauty and flow of Ki Aikido. Uke's attacks were a bit lacking, but otherwise just a beautiful video with excellent camera work. Liked the music too.
It's effortless because he's not being attacked with anything meaningful and these uke's are tanking for him. White guy sees Japanese guy in hakama and hits the floor - bam. Trust me - after 30+ years in aikido I've seen it all. This is not what it appears.
@markitymark09 over 30 years in "aikido" and that´s your understanding... so i think Aikido does not equal Aikido. There are many interpretations. Secondly, i would be interested to understand your definition of "meaningful". Do you perhaps think that Aikido is "self-defence"? This would be incorrect, if so, in my opinion.
@percyeve1 In 1941 Ueshiba was invited to demonstrate before the royal family. When Yukawa attacked him weakly Ueshiba broke his arm. A weak attack is a disrespect to the founder and to the art. O Sensei did not want to show a lie. Not self-defense, just self-respect.
