This is by far the best performance of this song. You get the feeling that Elton wanted this performance to be epic/legendary. Not only the great interlude, but the way he plays and sings the song is different from how he has played the song before and since. Thank goodness this has been captured.

I think this is a very precious and rare concert that elton gave this evening for the avo session in basel, he played in front of only 1500 people! also they were a lot of swiss VIP's invited to the concert! he was in a marvellous mood and he talked a lot, great concert! it was broadcasted live on SF (Swiss TV)...just fabelous! Actually, scientist are not completly sure if its being gay that causes the hypothalamus to look simular to a womans or if its the the more womenish hypothalamus that makes an individual gay. I think, like all forms of development both nature and nurture play a roll. You may be born with a predisposition to be gay (maybe) but ultimately I think environment also plays a roll. Either way, someone that is gay doesnt have a choice and should be treated just like anyone else.

Well I'm a fan. Great piano player....but my word that piano sounds aweful. More like a harpsichord than a grand piano. Did he break the sustain pedal or something because it only seems to do staccato now....and a very tinny staccato at that

I'm not a fan of the piano sound he gets now either. It actually has midi triggers that trigger a yamaha piano synth module, and that's about 70% of the sound, with the other 30% being the actual miked piano. Not to mention he uses unbelievably outdated samples. It really cuts through the band, but unfortunately sounds pretty awful, especially solo.

I like the good old grand piano sound better too, but I pretty much like the way staccato playing sounds on this piano, interesting at least.
