idk but my dog runs to the water with out me and goes swimming and comes back he loves the water he even jumps in the shower cause he knows water comes out from there im careful and have an eye on him and i make sure im with him so if he gets tired i carry him back but its a dachshund thing they love water well mine does

@CountryGirlDW1249 Probably just got water in his ear and tried to shake it out. Infection only happens if the dog stays wet, putting cotton in the ear will only make the problem worse. :]

yes its obvious these guys are abusive, evil people...what kind of monsters bring their dog to the beach with them and follow them around in the water with their arms around them to make sure they aren't in trouble? really? seriously? did you even watch the video or did you just search "small dogs swimming" so you'd have something to complain about today?
my daschund found a way to open her cage and then she lays on the front carpet and guards the front door and if someone rings that door bell she goes crazy... oh and she is very pretective she goes after the newfoundlands that our neighbor has she has a boyfriend is really funny here and a st. bernard always play togather for hours and its the funniest thing because shes so small and hes huge!!! lol

They can but due to their long backs it can be dangerous so it's best to hold them and support their back. I suggest getting the little bugger one of those custom made doxie life jackets :3 he'd be marvelous in the water with a little support.
@bobiocean k you are very sadly mistaken i have had a weiner dog for about two years, those type of dogs get very attached to one person just hope it is you becasue my dog is attached to my mom and now if i get to close to my mom it will chase me and bite my ankles
@Snipeout101 it depends on HOW the dog is raised. just because my old pure bred dachshund "spanky" was more attached to mom than me..doesn't mean that he would bit at my ankles if i got near mom to hug her. IT'S HOW ya train the dog. only reason the dog bit at your ankles and chase you is that SOMEONE trained the dog to do that. it's not rocket science.

dachshunds are not mean compared to most small dogs. sometimes playful dachshunds can be misenterperated as mean. mine will drown you in kisses b4 he'll bite you. they have very loud barks and can be protective when needed but most of the time they just play. for more info you can message me
My duachshund was a very good swimmer but she only would swim when she felt like it. If she knew someone was in the pool with her then she would just like let herself drown waiting for someone to pick her up! I always picked her out early I was afrid she would get hurt lol
Not all the dachshound can swim. I had 2 and it was very tired for them even a few meters. There is some kind of funny miscoordination... because they are very long.

Watch his ears...when the water gets into the ears it can cause a infection.Watch out for that.thats why he shook his head
