@RyanisFabulous It's not a cash register. Dumbass. It's a public information kiosk (also a gift registry) it doesn't handle any type of money (no cash drawer, credit card slot ect.), there's a difference. Also, I didn't hack it, I rebooted it (turned it off, then back on). What showed up on the screen is the SAME EXACT THING you would see on ANY home PC running the same version of Linux.
I have a linux powered device. have you ever seen that juice box player thing that plays kids cartoons on cartridges its by Mattel and it runs uCLinux. maybe ill do a video on it so I can show you.
I let him speak to her & he just told her that he can't have me tampering with the system. And loss prevention is basically the security in the store to prevent shoplifting.
lol linux thats awesome, I have a device that runs a version of linux its that mattel juice box thing it runs uCLinux so i printed out a picture of tux and the linux inside logo and stuck it on the back of my juice box. ive heard that linux is super reliable, is there any chance that there is a windows like OS thats linux based but you can run all your windows programs on it? I want the reliability of linux with the ease of use of windows.
Well I don't know much about Linux so idk. And yes Linux is reliable...and its very compact and can boot from a flash drive. Theres a bunch of devices in my house that run Embedded Linux. Like my cable box and my internet router runs Linux internally.
naa the PS3 doesnt run linux it has its own proprietary OS in the system software. there is very little info on it b/c its not open source like linux is. i dont know much about linux either other than its an OS and its open source and its reliable as hell. I want that in a laptop but with a windows interface and be able to run all windows stuff.
Then you should get a Eee PC. its a netbook (a very small laptop) and you can buy it with either Windows XP or Xandros Linux. Xandros looks pretty good from the videos ive seen on YouTube.
i dunno about linux im not a computer nerd so it looks like its XP for me. ive seen those netbooks but they dont have an optical drive or a lot of processor power id like to run HD games like crysis and GTA IV on it. and i dont feel like signing a 2 year agreement for the wireless 3G internet thing on it. im not made of money and i dont gfeel like paying 30 or whatever bux a month just to go on the internet ill just use someones unprotected wifi lol.
These are different, you're thinking about the Dell Minis, Eee PC's are like regular laptops only smaller and cheaper...but yes you are right about the processing power.
