It reminds me of all the elementary school holidays and breaks when I was able to sit in the living room and watch this our floor model TV at 10:30am weekdays. I love you David!!!!!
that is crazy.....im 25, married, 2 baby girls, house, 2009 chevy truck/ 2011 Volvo XC60...me and my wife bust ass at work everyday for fucking pennies dude..but we remember all these shows dude....when us "80 kids" get in our 50's...... lets make sure we are not like these 50/60 year olds of today...we need to still be kick ass in the future and stick together no matter how different we are..... we all watched this as kids...we are all bothers and sister...Beavis and Butt Head raised us homie!
I recently thought that David the Gnome was a excellent cartoon for children until Adult Swim came to Cartoon Network in 2004, replacing the classics (even cartoons from the '80s including Lady Lovelylocks, Scooby-Doo, Count Duckula and Jem).
OH Man I so remember this show. I watched this show with my little bro everyday. I was trying to tell my husband about this show and he thought I was crazy. Glad I'm among friends here.
This was back when cartoons actually had a storyline and were fullfilling. I've been downloading all the cartoons I grew up on because the crap these days could really rot a child's brain! It's like television executives totally gave up and just threw a bunch of shit together.
Other than the name of the show, I don't remember what the actual storyline was, and still I find myself smiling so much when I watched this intro because I remember that i loved watching this show when I was a kid! oh my god! And then I would watch Maya the Bee!
I have to admit.....I grew up watching this show with my sister (I have a lot of brothers and sisters) but at the time ONLY my sister and I was living in New Jersey when I first started to watch this show and I really loved. For a while I couldn't figure out what's the name of it so I just thought that I was going insane or just nuts (because i that I was making it up in my mind) At one point in time I actually thought that I dreamed it and made it up...lol, I LOVE THIS SHOW!
@Goodiez83 I really loved that show too!!! i had some rubber/plastic figures of David the Gnome and one Troll also the fantastic book who is based this cartoon, i hope the children of today could watch these type of shows without laugh at them. Greetings from Spain.
Awesome cartoon. Great memories watching this show with my Mom. It's funny now but the looks on the bunnies faces at 0:29 used to make me sad. Hahaha good innocent times.
Wow .... such memories! Honestly, one of my favorite cartoons to watch as a child. This was one show I dropped everything for. I wish I could find it again, I would love to watch them all over again.
Pardon my language, but to hell with the future, the past was just better. Classics like this and the other shows from this era, kick the shit out of the cartoons now. Dora the F-ing explore, Sponge Bob, Chowder, can't hold a candle to the Classics.
I knew this show existed! I've been looking for it off and on for a good ten years now. Every time I'd ask someone about this show, they'd just tell me I was thinking of the Smurfs.
HELP ok, I used to watch one like this only the gnome I think was diffrent and he travelled helping animals with his nephew who was blond with a mostache and in the last episode the nephew got married to one of these 2 twins he loved and I dont think it was this type so if ya know PLEASE TELL ME
Rest in Peace Tom Bosley (voice of David). We 80's children love you, and hope to see you in heaven to thank you personally for all the warm and magical memories. You rock man, and you will be in our hearts always.
Love,
Cyn (who watched David the Gnome shamelessly from pre-school until her senior year of college :) )
God, I watched this, and I'm surprised (or maybe not) that I can still sing along with this song! I miss cartoons like this, even if I am considerably older now ;P
Has anyone else here seen the final episode of David the Gnome? I watched it on the net a year ago and bawled like CRAZY. I can't believe they made it so depressing, and for kids? If I had seen it as a 6 year old I would have been scarred for life, let alone 25 (which I was)!
why does this make me cry so much? I had forgotten all about it and found it by looking at all my other old childhood shows. I remember staying home with my mom and watching this. Thank you so much for putting this up, you made my nite!
this makes me sooo sad, but happy at the same time. I miss the old nickelodeon sooo much, it was way better before. now all it is is dora the explorer. I miss the old 80s-90s nick. Brings back sooo many memories!
Sometimes i wonder if I like something b/c of my persepective, and the age i was at the time, sentimentality, etc... and i'm sure that's try... but with this show.. now way... they simply do not make these kinds of cartoons anymore.. everything is either overly sexual, overly violent, overyly wierd (those who try to be ren and stimpy'esque). I've yet to see too many cartoons on this level these days
Is it just me, or does this opening song Not SERIOUSLY rock house?!
I have tapes of this, & had wanted to actually meet David and Lisa and their amazing friends. This came on in the morning, followed by the "Noozles", "the Little Koala" and then stuff like "Today's Special". It was SO cool being a kid and seeing simple, yet really deep cartoons like these.
Animation: awesome.
Characters: coolness.
Stories:Superb.

@Cripple2588 Oh man! I did too! Isn't it amazing how these shows are engraved in our subconscious. I remember being sitting on my bunkbed watching this show and other shows from Nick Jr.
why did they even take this off id like my kids to watch the re-runs..I guess there is a chance today's kids might not be interested, but u never know it might find an audience, like on the channel sesame street is on
This honestly makes me cry. I must have been in pre-school or kindergarten when it aired, but I have memories of watching it, and it just brings me back to such simpler and innocent times.
I still have memories of Nick Jr during 1989-1991. When they showed fantasic cartoons like this a gave elementry school kids like me the excuse to stay home from school.
@StarKrazzo I know exactly what you mean. I must've only been 2 or 3 and I remember sitting infront of my television every day to watch David The Gnome. If you really wanna cry go watch that last episode.
Ight can someone help me out. Does anybody remember a cartoon on nick played in the late 80's of a boy and his WHITE dog????? It was like a village type set, I remember watching it when i got out of kindergarden.
ahh memories (wipes away tear)....will these stories be remembered when I am old and long gone? can we ever hope to see such marvels on tv ever again? my heart can only hope before the memory fades away...
And I thought I had imagined it! None of my friends who used to watch this show remember that.
All I remember is that I cried my eyes out and wondered why they turned into trees. I kept thinking "What if people cut them down?" They were right above town and everything!
I still remember every word to that song!!!

And I thought I had imagined it! None of my friends who used to watch this show remember that.
All I remember is that I cried my eyes out and wondered why they turned into trees. I kept thinking "What if people cut them down?" They were right above town and everything!
I only remember seeing once though.
