  • your test with a broom stick does not make sense. if the broom stick isn't perfectly straight then it affects the deflection considerably. why not use a meucci butt and redo the test? tell me a pro that actually uses these black dots?...lol!

  • the test isnt reliable in any way. first of all bob meucci is a partisan here, of course he says meucci beats all, secondly only cueball should be hit to see deflection, third we son't even know if that predator is real, not warped, in good shape etc

  • @vegamatt54321. You are spot on.

  • The correct way to measure deflection is to shoot the cue ball and measure how far offline it goes. No other balls should be involved for accurate results. The reason they are not doing this in this video is because the Predator crushes all Meucci shafts. This is a blatant attempt to trick the ignorant among us into believing their product is better, when in fact it is not.

  • This test is showing the amount of throw that is applied to the object ball. Not deflection of the cue ball. Throw only happens when theres English applied to the cue ball. So the 314 shaft is throwing the ball more meaning that it is generating more spin than the black dot. I have shot with both shafts and the 314 is the better shaft is every aspect of gameplay

  • BTW, nothing against Meucci. As a matter of fact I own a Meucci (same white stick (MEP-01) as shown in one of the vids on "Meuccicues" dotcom). I also own a cheapy Cuetec and other sticks. The one I seem to play best with is the cheapy Cuetec with the old SST shaft. If you can get past the "feel" part, the stick performs well. I like the Meucci as well, but for some reason, the stick never grew on me.

  • The bottom line is that this "new technology" is overrated. These manufacturers are hyping up these shafts and selling them for 150-300% higher than the older shafts . These manufacturers can then give out a few free shafts to pros and then they can say that Mr. Johnny Pro uses their shafts. Where I live, people are falling for the hype. 2 players just recently went out and bought a predator. Their game is still the same. No difference.

  • Funny how Predator, Meucci, Cuetec, and a few others are touting their "low deflection" shafts as the greatest thing since electricity. The reality is that the amount that these shafts will help is minimal. Predator charges $250 for their Z shafts, so they must be fantastic, right? Well, if they are so good, why out of the last 5 WPA tournaments, none of the women, and only 2 men used Predator?

  • (Winners of the WPA tournament...that is). Another thing, Efren Reyes has been running out racks and rack of balls with no problem long before Bob Meucci even knew how to spell "Black Dot". Many of the pro players do not like the low deflection shafts anyway. Allison Fisher admitted that it took her over a year to get used to the R360 low deflection shaft. Seems like her game has gone down since.

  • in the video it say the black dot was compared to a predator 314 2? I can't see any number 2 on the predator 314 at this video. I wish Meucci would compare this to Z and Z2...let's see which will win.

  • is the prdator 314z 2 shaft worth buying ?

  • buy a mezz

  • Well. If you play a lot of pool. You people would understand what "throwing" a ball is. And he is saying there is less throw with there shaft. Dumb people

  • @yoskatesukka No he is saying there is less deflection. Dumb person.

  • @hubertandclyde you're an idiot get outta here

  • @yoskatesukka I'm the one who is right though? 'Throw' happens when a a spinning ball hits another ball. Deflection happens when the cue tip strikes the ball with English. He is OBVIOUSLY showing the effects of deflection because deflection has to do with cue shafts, and throw has to do with cleanliness of the balls and how much English is on them. Looks like you are th idiot for not knowing that.

  • Further more the tape measure only measures to the right..... What all cues deflect balls only to the right???? He didn't have anything to measure from the left of center line...... Almost like he knew that the ball was definitely going to go to the right.... Hmmmm... What an idiot. Hey Meucci why don't you contract me to make the next video for you, so that people like me can't point out all of your very obvious mistakes.

  • @loady1031 He knows it will go to the right because that is how the system is set up you idiot. And it is 'cue' ball, not 'que.'

  • This video proves nothing. Tell me how its an accurate test when the guy just sets the que ball down? Probably the same thing with the object ball. How are you going to get accurate results when each of the two balls are in different places everytime. Come to think of it this video does show something. It shows that Meucci knows that the predator is a supperior product and is so desperate to sell cues, that they will decieve people to do it.

  • Can someone explain to me what's happening (physically) in this test when the cue ball hits the object ball

I've seen this and the other test

    /watch?v=vseT0ahdCo8

and i wanted to know why the cue ball comes off at a greater angle with the BD shaft compared to the 314 shaft.

I thought that the closer a CB hits an OB's center, the less it comes off the OB

    /watch?v=JgKD-nqKTlQ

so why is the CB landing so much further from the OB after the hit?

maybe the test is fixed? idk i dont fully understand it

  • I wouldnt let my drunk brother play with a black dot shaft, being scared it would throw off his game.

  • Do it again several times man!

Only one shot doesn't show anything!!!

  • The bromstick is light er

  • this is a pathetic attempt to bring meucci back in the game.how many of you would actually trade orplay with black dot rather than 314 or z2

  • I used to be a blackdot fan. I have two cues. I have a Meucci Ultra Piston and a Bear cue with 314 2. I have to say that the deflection is really true about the blackdot...BUT!!!! Blackdot sucks. When it comes to backspin, highspin, aiming....etc predator is way too better. So BD is good in sidespins cause you don't have to calculate that much. But for the rest of the game 314 is awesome!!

  • I wouldnt prefer any of the shafts, since i hate those garbagewood laminated shafts ;)

  • @Samsa23 If those single wood shafts are garbage, then why would Efren and Bustamante can play very well on their favorite one-piece wood shafts?

  • @AlTarik

I never said single wood shafts would be garbage... actually i use a J.Pechauer with original shaft as I said before.

And to Efren and Bustamante, I think you could hand them any branch and they would go wild on the table ;)

  • @gmizafac I used meucci for years... was i ever confused then.. Once i switched to predator there is no comparison.. z shafts all day!

  • Seriously, is that really what goes into a cue, bad quality control craftsmanship? Do you recall when Meucci filed for bankruptcy because they had so many complaints about recalled cues. Now no distributor will carry them because they're all afraid of the Meucci name? It's on all the billiard forums, just look it up and you'll be surprised by how unreliable meucci is. I received one where the paintjob was not consistant and the design was not symmetrical. If they can't get the design right.

  • This is probably a quality control reject that accidentally outperformed what it was intended to do. Now if you could QC all Meucci cues maybe some distributers will have the confidence to carry more of your products. Let me just say, a brief time of not returning calls to customers, merchants because of the high level of complaints of bad cues isn't a good business model.

  • u people are nuts....just because this video is done by bob meucci himself, DOESN'T mean u can dispute the results or ignore them. this is pure science, not subjective garbage.

  • it's made by meucci, so it's certainly not objective

  • my brother uses a meucci power piston with a red-dot shaft. after palying for years with house cues, i finally decided to get a cue. i'd played with his cue for months and then a very good friend lent me his lucassi with a z-2. night and day my friends, night and day. my cue is coming soon, it's a predator sp8rj-z2 i can't wait.

  • This is the EXACT cue I use. I upgraded it to a sniper tip, The FIRST day I got it I ran 4 tables before my opponent got a shot. My Cue gets A LOT of attention! Last Week I played in Vegas in the annual amateur competition and finished 33rd out of more than 600 in my division! I Loveeeeeeee this Cue!

  • which offers something like 55% less deflection than the 314/2 series which is even better than the standard 314 by more than 10% (don't remember the exact percentages) I will stand by predator, pound for pound i dont think there's a person in the world that would say there's a shaft in this world better than the z2!!!!

  • the one that produces less deflection could be the z2, however, THE BEST is what fit perfectly in your hans and in your sight. cue 30% and player 70%. Remember efren reyes became popular while playing with a $15 cue

  • i'm not arguing which is better, but sometimes it differs from a player to a player. I tried 314, Z2, and a mecdermott

i2, and i feel like the i2 is the best u can ever get, but some players prefer the 314 or the Z2 or OB1 shafts.

  • There's no way i'd believe this! Im in the process of getting a 5k series predator with the z2 shaft w

  • This is not scientific. First, the cue ball is held in a cup meaning it could exit the cup slightly differently each time Chaos theory tells us this. Next it's not the deflection of the object ball that should be measured it's the amount of deflection the shaft inputs to the cue ball and drives it offline. A proper test will hit the cue ball at exactly the same spot with English and measure how accurately the cue ball travels a straight line. Anything off of perfectly straight is the Deflection

  • Look into what I mentioned about Meucci ripping off Predator's Iron Willy. Iron Willy is a machine that strokes the cue ball in exactly the same spot and speed every time. This is just another example of Predator's inovation and thier competator's futile attempts of replication.

  • At least they're using a somewhat reliable test machine similar to Iron Willy. These goofs are completely off base with this setup, I could probably make just using the broom with no shaft at all look better than anything sold if I tried hard enough with this setup. Waste of time and space.

  • Well played...Well played

  • Thank you...;)

This one is so far off base tho I'm surprised any real player doesn't see thru it instantly. Any slight spin on the cue ball or any misplacment of the object ball will skew results, this is just a dumb setup. BTW I play a Viking F65 with a 314 2nd gen and I LOVE it. Take care!

  • Predator 4K5 with Z^2, Predator BK2 and a Predator air for me! Hit 'em good.

  • Nice!! I love my Viking butt and the predator shaft made a bigger diff than I thought it would. when I play a heavy draw my viking shaft used to have a slight shudder on the hit but the predator absorbs it perfectly. We also make cues and have a new shaft design in testing. 9 pie design with a 3/16 phenolic resin rod core from tip to joint to transfer the "feel". so far so good. Play on Friend!

  • Let me know how it goes

  • Im getting my 5k8 in 3 days, im like a kid in a candyshop, cant freakin wait !

  • ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!!!!!! P2 with Z2 is even better! However you are super close to a perfect Ménage à trois!

  • BTW i do play a J. Pechauer with original shaft and dont like those garbagewood shafts at all :-p

  • lol

  • @ChappyBT hey i play with viking cues too i was planning to change my shaft to a predator shaft witch one do yu think play better the z or the 314 i have a viking f54 ?

  • I've tried out all the three variations. Predator 314 is very cool. Predator Z is good as well but that's like a snookercue. But I felt that something is missing...then I bought my first meucci+blackdot. It might sound unbeliavable but after a while the quallity of my game has improved from 3 to 11 out of 10 :) Black dot is the best constructed shaft on the world. I also won semi-pro tournaments after I started using blackdot. It helped me a lot.

  • All three variations? The 314 and Z are only 2 variations. Then there's also the 314/2 and Z/2. Not saying that someone can't play well with a Meucci. Good pool can be played with anything but do some research, the Z/2 deflects less than anything on the market. Oh, and you don't have to turn the predator to s specific point either. Personal opinion doesn't mean jack, the numbers do.... get a clue and keep defending a company who isn't even second best.

  • Have you ever tried black dot?...I mean not just trying but using it for about 2 months? You shouldn't just read some so called "researches" because those are usually just some marketing stuffs. In my case I used all three cues for a time, than I decided to buy a cue. People usually make one shot with a cue than decide whether it's a good or bad cue. Oh and I din't say that predator cues are not good cues. Those are awesome cues!!! But Meucci Blackdot fits me more. Everybody is different;)

  • Yeah, you're right, different cues work differently for different people but the FACT is that predator deflects less. Isn't that the technology that we pay so much money for? Some people prefer a more deflective cue but the point stays the same, Predator cues simply have less deflection. If all information we read is just marketing stuff then the video we just watched of Meucci ripping off Predators Iron Willy is also BS the right?

  • Yeah that's right...I love Meucci Black dot...but I don't really fancy with this video. A cue doesn't really work in the hand of people as it works with the machine. That's why I told you my personal experience. I don't really care about videos containing marketing

  • lol. i wanna walk into a poolhall and play ppl w that broomstick!

  • Anything but Predator is trash and a complete waste of money. Anyone who plays pool and knows anything about any of the "dot cues" know the theory behind them. They have a "sweet spot" and the dot should asways face a particular direction to take advantage of this sweet spot. Predators 10 piece shaft is consistant all the way around the cue. Meucci, cuetec and wal-mart cues are all in the same category compared to Predator.

  • Very well said!

  • This is a piece of garbage video. Anyone who knows anything about cue shaft deflection and cue ball squirt will know that this demonstration is for those who don't have a clue.

  • It has nothing to do with the path of the struck object ball, that is why he (Bob Meucci) did it this way. Predator Shafts will apply more spin with the same tip position so the cue ball will have more rotational KE at impact with the OB. All Mr. Meucci would have to do is spritz a bit of moisture on the OB when he used the broom and the CB will not hold the OB as long during contact, making his false test believable.

  • Trust me! I have tested Meucci, Cue-Tec's, and yes broom sticks many times during 1000+ classes. They all are garbage compared to a PREDATOR of any generation!! The "Oyster", Academy of the Cueing Arts Professional Master Instructor

  • The "Oyster", Academy of the Cueing Arts Professional Master Instructor ???? OR MAYBE A PREDATOR (BADLY PAID) FAN?

  • haha...this video isn't about difflection, look it up for yourself man

  • i mean deflection

  • Thanks for not making me feel like i've wasted money with my Z2!! I really do love my cue and it'll be a shame if someone with experience didn't concur with me! :-)

  • dude i can't tell you how right you are!

    this video is crap!

  • jeah thats right, actually they only test original shafts / 314 on other cues like falcon and the black dot with each other.

But that should be no problem. All 3 The 314(and 314^2), Z and the Black Dot shaft are all very good and I never said that the Black Dot was the best.

  • there is only a test with predator 314 shaft but not with predator z shaft
