Re: Regan. She should investigate into Asperger's Syndrome. It can include VERY rigid food selections and refusal to eat or even try foods of "objectionable' textures and tastes. Regan may put up a fight and be difficult, but he is clearly not starving and seems to be growing. So it's just a matter of finding out what the problem is and how to deal with it.

WOW! My 6month old infant eats more than he does! She eats avocado, banana, brown rice, oats & of course breastmilk. She LOVES to eat avocados though.

Natalie's friend Heather is AMAZING! She is the only one keeping her alive feeding her every hour and half. Not even her family is there for her. She is so lucky to have her.

Well, most people don't know the difference between spanking for discipline and spanking to break will. Most parents hit to break their childrens' will and it will escalate to abuse. If you hit them in the butt swiftly then no, but once they are old enough say even 2 or 3 explain to them. What I would do is take away the crisps and jaffa cakes, sit him down at the table put his food in front of him, tell him to eat it or he will go on the naughty step for ten minutes. if he leaves the table he will be brought back to the table if he refuses to sit at the table he will be warned 2x before being put on the naughty step. If after a couple of days he hasnt eaten anything I would take him to his GP.

I wouldnt smack my dog and she is well behaved, its called training. Hitting children 'hind' or otherwise is illegal. has been since the 90s. my younger brothers were never smacked and they are very well behaved. smacking children teaches them its ok to smack. you can tell which kids in the class get hit as a punishment at home because they hit other children.
The bratty eater is an easy problem to solve - my step-son was the exact same way. All I did was offer him meals, same as everyone else, and if he didn't eat, I didn't try to force or beg, but wouldn't let him have anything else until the next mealtime. If he refused, he'd just have to wait. And so on. He lasted four days. Problem solved. My husband was worried that his son would starve, until I pointed out that he was quite chubby for someone who "wouldn't eat". Because he'd eat candy instead!

yeah you cannot go looking to get it but it depends on the person you might already be prone to eating disorders (like myself and others I've met) Like if I WERE to binge on a fast I would immedeatly purge by vomiting or laxatives. as you said its a mindset so even though I have put on quite a bit of weight I still feel it. I think about food and calories all the time and every time I eat it HURTS. I hate being with my family because I can't purge or not eat. I can't eat without feeling guilty.

Alot of people like to throw around the word, child abuse, around without actually knowing it first hand
When i was younger (im 18 btw), if i was rude to my parents, if i hit my sister, or threw stupid fits on stores for things, i would get spanked. Actions have consecuences, if you cant deal with the concecuences, dont do it.
Did i liked it at the time? Hell no, i hated it. Am i happy that my parents did that? You bet i am, i hate seeing kids being spoiled and rude.

? You can not "being thinking of becoming anorexic". I had an eating disorder. And I hate anorexia more than anything in the entire world. But I'm not angry at the owners of the websites, they are doing damage but they don't know better, they are as sick as I used to be.

@PanaceaWanted She HAS given him regular food & left him there to eat it. She said that he will STARVE himself before he eats it. The kid has a neurological imbalance, @ that point any food is better than no food. He sounds like a severe case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder-and in a child that young his SEVERE aversion to food can be life threatening!

WOW! My 6month old infant eats more than he does! She eats avocado, banana, brown rice, oats & of course breastmilk. She LOVES to eat avocados though.
This child half way through this clip was probably started on the wrong things (or possibly given a pacifier dipped in something sweet) far too early. How else could it have started????

@nasrinv Agreed. If he only eats junk food then he's going to be seriously unhealthy and he's going to end up in the hospital from poor nutrition. If I was a parent I'd refuse to spend money I didn't have to on hospital bills just because the kid refuses to eat decent meals.

A monster that is later released into the world, which other people are forced to put up with it because now-a-days disciplining a child is seen as a criminal offense. I miss the days of real corporate punishment.

@LadyBludgeon There is obviously some sort of neurological imbalance in his brain. His mother clearly stated that she has left him there with food for VERY LONG periods of time and he will STARVE HIMSELF. He isn't spoiled, he is sick!

He is neurological imbalanced because he is just eating unhealthy meals with no real nutritional values. His little developing brain is no match for highly processed, full of sugar foods. He is spoiled because the parent isn't taking full control of the situation and the kid is just doing what he wants to do. Irresponsible of her, both as a parent and a citizen, not to control her own kid.

@LadyBludgeon 1. Parents as hard as they try cannot always control their own children. Nobody can control another human being 100% of the time. 2. Research neurological disorders such as OCD and you will find symptoms almost identical to what this little boy is exhibiting. Sometimes it's nobody's fault. By doing this show she is reaching out for help, because everything else she has tried has failed.

Children aren't permitted to scream or act disrespectfully to an adult like that. A big smack to the face with a sandal will be conducted, if the child did so. 2.) She hasn't tried EVERYTHING! A good smack does a child justice. Again don't give people excuses in being lazy and allowing others to do what they should do themselves, especially when it comes to being a parent.

Brain mapping has been done to prove they exist and to prove that there are physical and chemical differences in the brain of somebody with a neurological disability.

@alliek2003 1.) Smacking for no reason is child abuse, smacking when a child misbehaves is disciplining that kid. Child abuse is letting the kid rule the house. 2.) I believe in neurological disabilities (I myself have a list of it that fall under the learning disabilities category) ... It shouldn't be used as an excuse for misbehavior/disrespect. I find it rather offensive when people use a disability (whether their own or others) as an excuse for not trying & for behaving inappropriately.

@LadyBludgeon Smacking a child across the face or on the head, regardless if they misbehaved or not, is child abuse. At least in Canada. The law is limited to bums, and I believe hands also. I too have a list of neurological disabilities, and unlike you who have learning disabilities I know what it is like to suffer from behavioral issues such as OCD. Do not judge somebody unless you know the entire situation-and this short clip of this family offers only a brief glimpse into their lives

Boy's lucky he has food at all! Millions of people are starving.... He only makes that much fuss because his mum gives in and he can get away with it. None of us liked eating vegetables as a child but we did because our parents made us, we werent abnormal, he's just a brat. Not that its his fault at that age sadly.

that kid only does that because he can. just leave him at the table until he eats, and give him nothing else. that's what my parents did. they would let me and my brother sit there all night if they had to. take toys, the tv, spank him with a wooden spoon until he eats. just give the kid some discipline!

This child obviously has something going on inside his brain, this is not normal behavior nor is he spoiled & she isn't "giving in". You just see a few examples of her trying to get him to eat-you haven't seen the YEARS prior to this. He needs help, something is not right inside his brain.

Not sure if this a bad thing or not but my mom would put food in front of me and I would ethier eat or not for that meal. I tried that crying crap, didn't work. I would get hungry to eat it or she would say I'll give you a reason to cry and I know I didn't want that. The way this child is acting is crazy.

Well, most people don't know the difference between spanking for discipline and spanking to break will. Most parents hit to break their childrens' will and it will escalate to abuse. If you hit them in the butt swiftly then no, but once they are old enough say even 2 or 3 explain to them. Keep explaining and they will eventually get it, but no I was spanked as a child and grew up normal. Most of my relatives too and they are normal. Stop being wussies.

@koinkidink99 Jaffa cakes are actually bisquit-like cakes that "have three layers: a sponge cake base, a layer of orange flavoured jelly and a coating of dark chocolate". They are popular in the UK and Ireland but also in other countries like Finland where I come from. They have quite a bit of calories so I can only wonder how Regan can eat them so much. :/

'spanking' is illegal.
What I would do is take away the crisps and jaffa cakes, sit him down at the table put his food in front of him, tell him to eat it or he will go on the naughty step for ten minutes. if he leaves the table he will be brought back to the table if he refuses to sit at the table he will be warned 2x before being put on the naughty step. If after a couple of days he hasnt eaten anything I would take him to his GP.
but Im not a mum so I cant really imagine what its like 4 her.

I wouldnt smack my dog and she is well behaved, its called training. Hitting children 'hind' or otherwise is illegal. has been since the 90s. my younger brothers were never smacked and they are very well behaved. smacking children teaches them its ok to smack. you can tell which kids in the class get hit as a punishment at home because they hit other children.

The bratty eater is an easy problem to solve - my step-son was the exact same way. All I did was offer him meals, same as everyone else, and if he didn't eat, I didn't try to force or beg, but wouldn't let him have anything else until the next mealtime. If he refused, he'd just have to wait. And so on. He lasted four days. Problem solved. My husband was worried that his son would starve, until I pointed out that he was quite chubby for someone who "wouldn't eat". Because he'd eat candy instead!

But if you go looking on proanorexia websites in order to "get" anorexia, chances are you'll never get it - people who don't have the disordered mindset and thoughts of an anorexic just can't do it long enough to end up like this poor woman.
It typically goes like this: "I'm on a 7-day fast", then later "Oh no, I binged on pizza!". These people can't just 'catch' anorexia.
Plus the anonymous girl who devotes her time to proanorexia websites looked a little chubby herself.

yeah you cannot go looking to get it but it depends on the person you might already be prone to eating disorders (like myself and others I've met) Like if I WERE to binge on a fast I would immedeatly purge by vomiting or laxatives. as you said its a mindset so even though I have put on quite a bit of weight I still feel it. I think about food and calories all the time and every time I eat it HURTS. I hate being with my family because I can't purge or not eat. I can't eat without feeling guilty.

i knew this kid who was so spoiled that all he'd drink was coca-cola. it became so bad that he'd eat his cereal with coke!!! O_o
all it took was a couple of slaps and strictness to get him back to eating and drinking normal.

I saw another documentary about kids that don't eat and basically treatment is starving them... and group therapy. They're starved and after a few days and a few pounds they do start to eat
