  • Get in traditional pushup position. Put hands on cement blocks. The hands should be placed palms down near the edge of the blocks so that the palms are on the blocks' top surfaces, with the knuckles at the edge. The fingers should hang over the edge and point straight downward to the floor. Avoid the tendency to grip the block and keep your fingers straight and pointed to floor throughout the exercise. Push with pressure mostly on palms. Otherwise, do pushups regular way.

  • credit.

  • brilliant!! i can only do that in just a few times... well gonna try that one, thanks for uploading this one...

  • You could, what I am more concerned about is breaking your wrists is you lose your balance and fall forward. If you are just starting out, put your hands on the ground, and as you build strength, then move up to your knuckles and eventually the blocks.

  • yes, this worked for me.

especially if you're talking about starting from being almost absolutely scrawny

  • what if you lose balance? do you crack your head?

  • I really appreciate the advice, giving one's time to help another is always respectable. Basically I live in Russia and I've been robbed several times, which was positive in the sense that it led me to quit smoking and start exercising/training so that I could better defend myself, but as has been the case forever, my hands give me away. Growing up in America tends to give you different hands than someone who grew up doing heavy manual labor in a siberian village. Thanks for the advice!!!

  • Sorry about your past but that just makes you stronger. I would check into taking karate. The style I train is Kyokushin, which has a large following in Russia. Check it out, I think you will like it. It has made me into a lighter, faster, stronger person. Also, a great way to build up more grip strength is to hit a large tractor tire with a sledge hammer. It's hard to beat manual labor. I built houses for many years, so shoveling and swinging a hammer have helped me with my hand strength.

  • I've always wondered, does doing push ups on your knuckles cause arthritis over time? Do you know any exercies that can be used to increase the strengh and possibly girth of your fingers and hands?

  • Exercises that increase the strength and girth of your fingers are carrying very heavy odd objects, like a farmers walk in the strong man competitions, squeezing objects with your finger tips and doing push ups on your finger tips. I imagine this could be a factor for causing arthritis over time. The key is to keep up on your fish oils and take glucosamine, chondrotin and MSM to help prevent soft tissue and cartilage degeneration. I hope this helps. If you have more questions let me know!

  • Damn Dude.
