Bah, they killed off my favorite character in the 26th volume, Shira got quadrupled teamed by 3 strong fighters and a horse and almost won. Even after he got beat by them he was still alive untill he got eaten alive by a pack of wolves...

One for one thing he was one of the only REAL antagonist of the series, unlike Itto-Ryu... you really do have to appreciate him though I mean even as he was being devoured alive by a pack of wolves he didn't show any Fear, the fight between him and manji before he got triple-teamed was in my opinion the coolest fight in the entire series.

I actually haven´t read the part where he dies, I´m waiting for the next Dark horse paperback to drop. So reading your comment kinda spoiled things for me but it´s all good, I enjoy hte series so much anywyas .. I do agree with what you say, but isntead of appreciating HIM as a character i jsut appreciate the fact that his character plays a vital role in the series, if that makes any sense ? lol..

Oh yeah, him vs Magatsu was probably the most realistic piece of violence I´ve ever seen in comics. You could really feel how they were getting exhausted and how much the cuts hurt.. pure genius.

Makie is a straight ninja, butcher you in one move kinda assasin. prolly the most skilled. I´d like to say Magatsu but he´s almost getting killed everytime he fights lol .. Giichi is pretty bad ass too, manju beat him though.. Doa is prolly equal to Makie .

Shira, I mean, if the guy actually went for killing blows instead of dismembering cuts then he'd be hella lot more deadly than he already is. Plus he turned his bloody stub of an arm into a freakin shank!

i'm not convinced. Magatsu out played him, and i don't think Shira was dollying around, he was pissed off at him. I have a new proposition however, that crazy bag-head experiment dude who'se arms and legs were made out of katana blades. He just wouldn't die and took a freaking LOAD to kill him. I think even the Godhand from Samurai Champloo and Kenshin from the Samurai X OVAs would have had a difficult time with him.

Keep in mind that Shira was lacking in an arm that he lost.. what, a week earlier? It was because of this that he had terrible balance in that fight, and Magatsu took advantage of that by tossing him a cliff. Despite his lack of balance and an arm he was still raping Magatsu untill he went and got all cheap with the cliff-tossing shenanigans.
