  • Question: How are we best adapted to meat when we have enzymes specifically for grain breakdown but none for meat, and are anatomically built like herbivores? Blow you mind people. Probably not since it sought of goes against MCDOS every day! Lol

  • oldest disease free populations on earth are high carb diets, my great grandpa lived to 109 binge drinking and chain smoking from his preteens til he died, therefore this 127 yr old lady on a hunter diet dont mean shit, genetics are genetics.

  • latest and oldest fad diet

  • HEART HEALTHY WHOLE GRAINS!? ROFLMAO!

  • it doesn't look like he's enjoying that raw chunk of meat very much its probably more of a chore to eat it than for pleasure

  • hydatid tapeworm cook your meat!

  • It says they eat fruit, and then said they don't eat sugar. HOW DOES THAT WORK?!?!?!

  • @UniversalTruths sugar as white refine sugar, not as the natural unrefined sugar from a fruit. Big, big difference. I get you are a very young person from the question you are asking. Are all sugars the same? Are all alcohols the same? Things are not black and white as we would like them to be or as they may be fed to us. Life is not that simple. Now please tell me you do not compare a cup o sugar with an apple...

  • @epowerboy My comment was referring to the mainstream misconception that all sugar is bad for you. I am well aware that refined (processed) sugar is bad for you and very much different from the sugar found in fruits.

  • @epowerboy I totally agree sugar is bad but at a molecular level the sugar from processed stuff and fruit is no different and reacts the same within our body. The key difference is the amount the fruit and processed stuff contains, there is much less sugar in fruits then the processed garbage plus it is missing all the other negative health additives.

  • @thevansleaving " I totally agree sugar is bad but at a molecular level the sugar from processed stuff and fruit is no different and reacts the same within our body."

if sugar is bad then why does every cell in the human body run on sugar? Then you go on to say sugar from fruit reacts the same way within the human body as processed sugar, are you high or are you just clueless about basic nutrition?

  • @ValidPlacebo sugar is processed the same way regardless of were it comes from although processed does come with other bad junk, and yes your body does need sugar just not high amounts what you get from fruits and vegetables is more then enough for an average adult. Your body actually requires more fat then sugars/carbs you get over 60% of your energy from it and every cell in the body also uses it for it to function properly and heal.

  • @thevansleaving sugar in fruit is more easily converted into glycogen then fat, it takes more energy to break down fats into fuel so it does not make sense to me for the body to use a less efficient fuel source. I don't believe that the body uses more fat than carb for energy, if you are running a marathon you will need to ingest more carb during the race to prevent you from hitting the wall. If the body used more fat for energy than someone who is obese would be able to outrun someone that isnt

  • @ValidPlacebo were that is true your body gets its energy from the breakdown process that is why fat provides more energy plus fat does not break down into glycogen it breaks down into glycerol, your body only operates off of carbs for the first 1-2 hours after you eat then moves to fat. You do not have to believe me read any nutrition book and you will see that fat is preferred energy source. What prevents the crash is longterm energy and your body gets that from fat.

  • @ValidPlacebo also you have to understand that carbs are what cause you to store body fat in the first place keeping your insulin levels up prevents your body from using body fat. Dietary fat is completely different, it is not store unless your body is below a set point of weight then ASP kicks in, but even that requires insulin to start it so you still need sugars or carbs to store the fat.

  • @ValidPlacebo Every cell in your body does not run on sugar. Your body runs on cellular respiration. The chemical process of harvesting stored energy from food. You can run off fats just as easily as glucose.

Fats enter through pyruvate oxidation, then citric acid cycle, then oxidative phosphorylation/chemiosmosis.

You most certainly DO NOT have to run off glucose via glycolysis.

GO TO SCHOOL AND STUDY BIOCHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY LIKE I DO

  • @biglogstrongman I wouldn't mind going to school to study biochemistry but I do mind taking out 100K+ in student loans. You see my parents are not well off so them paying for school is out of the question, if school was free paid for by the government I would be in University right now...

  • Steak tartare is raw beef and a raw egg, and it's considered goutmet cuisine.

  • I can get down with rare to some degree. But raw? Don't we cook food to get rid of bacteria? (Aside from fish.)

  • @jonineese red meat if treated properly does not need to be cooked, the bacteria that people get sick from in red meat is from poor processing, not the animal itself. Fish should even be cooked unless it is fresh and caught the day you eat it.

  • @thevansleaving

    Thanx for the info. ;)

  • P90x

  • Heart healthy grains ?? my arse!!

  • well I'm not a big fan of proccessed food and I've known many ppl that basically eat nothing, but processed food and they are quite large.

But over all eating more like our ancestors at least could not hurt, veggies are good for you, so is meat and the less processed the better.

  • Little known fact about our Paleolithic ancestors: They were known to engage in impromptu displays of calisthenics. ;o)

  • HANNIBAL LECTOR

  • @IMnotSAS Hannibal ate humans and cooked their flesh, this guy is doing neither.

  • @SecretsOfLongevity

Do you think this guy would have any problems with eating human raw meat if neccessity kicked in?

  • @IMnotSAS There's never a necessity if you learn some basic survival skills in how to hunt and forage for food. If it was life and death for anyone, most people resort to cannibalism if they don't have those skills, so yeah.

  • Heart Healthy Grains - I never met one, should be called heart unhealthy grains.

  • @sciencegirl1

In Britain the oldest man aged 110 years of age, used to eat grain, oats in milk every day how do you explain that?

  • @IMnotSAS I would have to see exactly what this individual ate, besides my beef is with heavily processed grains like white flour, and extruded grains used in cereals (corn flakes, rice krispies etc...)

  • @IMnotSAS oldest women alive is 127 on this very diet.

  • @thevansleaving

How do you know she has been on it all her life? and i bet that pussy stinks.

  • @IMnotSAS because she is part of a hunter gatherer tribe in the amazon and did not have access to modern food.

  • STEAK GOODDD

  • Dairy is unnecessary and grains are relatively recent as a food for humans. Even Dr. Joel Fuhrman (proponent of a vegan diet) recommends a diet very low in grains and starches.

  • RAW!!?!! Are you kidding me? I new to paleo, but not in any of books or on sites is eating raw meat endorsed. Paleolitics had fire, dammit!

  • @melymeld : Yes and no. Before fire was discovered we did eat raw meat.We had no choice. I eat raw fish (sashimi) once in a while.

  • @auggiedoggy LOL! Yeah, no doubt and preserved meat under ground and smoked meat too. Its just this guy is hanging out leaning againts a guard rail and snacking away on a bloody piece of meat. Not a turn on for those interested in paleo dieting thinking it requires one to have a steak while commuting to work or something. It sends an undesirable message about paleo, which it is not. We've evolved enough to at least use fork and knife! : )

  • @melymeld : Gnawing on a piece of raw meat would likely guarantee you of having a seat to yourself on the bus, train or metro. ;o)

  • @auggiedoggy

Raw meat would probably kill you by giving you food poisoning

  • @IMnotSAS : Well, I wouldn't trust today's beef supply but I do have sashimi now and then.

  • $70 a day? I think not - this guy is a tool and truly a retard. I spent $80 today and it will last me a week - chock full of citrus, leafy greens, goat, octopus, kingfish steaks, cage free eggs, etc and i am not eating raw meat in a park like an idiot

  • this guy looks like crap

  • this is too funny

  • 70$ a day? What a loon. If you want calcium, drink almond milk. If you want fiber, eat vegetables. Paleo is the shiet.

  • @TheJovanist How do you avoid constipation on a diet like this? I tried cutting out beans/grains once and had insane constipation...

  • @frodosauce Constipation? Hehe... I remember the first time i tried raw beef with raw vegetables - the next day my shit was ... well, how can i describe it without being rude to the ladies ? Hm, well, the colour and the smell were, well, almost no smell !!!! LOL Seriously, u can tell the quality of your food by the shit!!!

  • @valgez1 If thats true that would say beans/grains are wonderfoods, cause I have good poops when I eat them but meat gives me messed up poops.

  • @frodosauce Don't doubt it - it's true. If your blood type is different from the "O" type, then meat is probably not for you. When i eat beans, world gas prices go down because of the oversupply.

  • @valgez1 I don't think its as simple as blood type. To be fair it's not all meat that does it. I tried wild salmon and had a perfect poop the next day, but chicken gives me some nasty craps and cramps. I also get gas if I don't soak my beans/grains properly, but given a day or two soak with water switches they go down well. I think everybody's different, some people might do best pretty much raw vegan, others may do best nearly carnivore...

  • Yes before we discovered fire, all of our meat was raw. There is nothing wrong with it.

  • Fad diet? What the? Yea, right, tell Art Devany that.

  • I laugh at how they call this a fad diet even though it has been around for millions of years. IDIOTS

  • @alickamoso1 Exactly.

  • @alickamoso1 paleo is antisocial diet because its so expensive you cant pay your taxes, you should be happy to eat the hog fattening diet so you can pay your taxes. that what they call a sustainable diet. the good news is they will die off long befor you do. so far im the only paleo eater in my town. a quick glance into the shopping cart speaks volums about what people eat. most of them are eating the cardboard diet. thats great for tax collectors, politicians and doctors.

  • raw meat?..

  • The lifespan of cavemen was shorter because of the conditions in which they lived and the environmental risks they faced everyday - such as climate, shelter and predators - NOT because of disease factors as is the case today.

We now have the best of both worlds - sheltered accomodation, reduced external risks (unless you're into your extreme sports!) and the ability to CHOOSE to eat the foods we were designed to eat.

Anyone living a paleo lifestyle will talk of their renewed energy and vigour!

  • @banannao Actually, the main reason the average lifespan was so short was due to infant mortality rates, after about 4 years old many lived to experience 80+. The average lifespan didn't vary much until about 100 years ago with the advent of birthing technologies. Other than that though you are dead on. Paleo + some of modernities benefits = long, healthy, and happy lives.

  • We did not start eating this way to loose weight, that is a bonus. Gluten Kills take your dog off of it also.

  • Well, I do cook our meat. Steak rare. My husband and I have been eating this way for about 4 months now. It is not costing us 70 bucks a day, the organic stuff is higher. ALL WORTH IT. I am off all RX drugs, my allergies went away (they were bad), My RA has turned around and is getting better. I Smile :) alot more.

  • What on Earth would cost $70 a day??

  • @drkingslend eating in a big city like that lol

  • @drkingslend Real food. As in, organic meat, fish, fresh vegetables. Junk food is becoming cheaper than real food.

  • Comment removed

  • @drkingslend anything at Whole Foods

  • im guessing the caveman diet was their only choice and their lifespans compared to thesedays is a lot shorter. i wouldnt do this, not after what we all know now about microbial bacteria and genetics and the way things grow on a molecular level, which as we all know, caveman had no knowledge about

  • @elgeeno

They had shorter lifespans, but it was not due to bad nutrition. Ask yourself, what would an animal eat in nature?

  • @alickamoso1 im pretty sure they had mc donalds, or as it was called back then, mc rubbles. lol, jokes! :)

  • Paleolithic man, or perhaps his predecessors, discovered fire and evolved to eat meat cooked. Cooked food has always been our ecological niche.

  • @ahrramin

monkeys dont use spears. and if they did it might be for defensive purposes not hunting. you need to start basing your beliefs on scientific research rather than "planet of the apes".

  • @signboyy I think that YOU should base your beliefs on scientific research. There IS scientific documentation of chimps manufacturing spears, with a four step process. The spears are then used to stab at other animals.

  • @guitarbilly48

science is looking at the norm not looking at an anomoly and calling it the norm

  • This diet isn't a fad. This guy doesn't represent CROSSFIT or Paleo dieters. This guys a complete retard. Grains are not healthy nor good for you. Educate yourself since the news is completely lies. We cook our food and are most part of an elite fitness program.

  • Who the fuck eats raw beef just out on the street like that?!? Well, at least he's not a vegatarian.

  • OK, I see some people saying that grains are bad and some who say that they are good but the truth is that grains can be good or bad depending on how much you eat or leave out of your diet. We don't need to eat grains like a freakin cow but at the same time we don't need to devoid our diets completely of grains as well. You can eat a damn sandwich but just not the whole damn loaf. It's called SELF CONTROL !!!!!!!!

  • Wow its sad that some nutritionists still class grains as being a healthy food to consume.

  • Back in 1979 I eliminated grains, refined sugar, dairy products, and salt from my diet and my weight quickly dropped from 194 pounds down to 142 pounds in less than four months. However, I did not eat raw meat. (Raw fish is great!)

  • Is it just me... or are people in America obese because they DON'T adhere to the food pyramid, and don't do enough exercise?

  • @DoctorChainsaw Dont want to upset you but the food pyramid is complete crap.

  • Caveman used fire to cook their meats, since homo erectus, half a million years ago......

  • Ah yes, crazy white people. Carry on with this foolishness until you drop dead of a massive heart attack... or are eaten by a shark, whichever happens first.

  • @Hoopermazing bring it to the south an talk that shit to my rebel flag flyin, cb radio talkin, pickup drivin face

  • @CBRADIOLOVER Eat shit and die, Goober. Not only would I say whatever I fucking well pleased to your ugly inbred mug, I'd dick-slap you in it as well.

  • this was disgusting. Eat the wormegg in it and the parasites moron.

  • I'm on the paleo diet and this guy is a fucking moron.

  • Whole Foods usually sells grass-fed but grain-finished meat. So,if you want grass-finished,make sure you ask.

  • i ate a raw steak this morning and it tastes a bit like gummy bears lol

  • Sure he does, raw paleo is 10x better than cooked. But I dont like the whole $70 a day, that doesnt even seem possible. I eat 2lb of raw grass fed organ and muscle meats a day with raw fruit and veggies all less than $13 a day easy. You could be completely healthy only eating animal foods though.

  • Haven't any of you dumb noobs heard of Steak Tartar?

  • People gathered far more than they hunted. The diet done right is about 75% or more vegetarian.

  • @KenMacMillan There's a couple of good articles in the most recent issue "The Mammoths Trumpet" that address this as well as the cultural side. You get more energy from meat, but it's so much harder to catch. And the risk involved for our ancestors was considerable.

  • I hate well done steaks, but eating them raw is disgusting. Medium rare, please.

  • @sjwright76 Agreed! Cooked food helped spur us on the evolutionary path to modern humanity, and it also helped kill off parasites. If this guy wants to eat the equivalent of carrion, he should not be suprised when he gets a nice tapeworm party in his GI tract.

  • People get fat because of too much calorie consumption

  • not true

  • @Iwanttoseemyabs Not true; there is WAY more too it. It has much more to do with hormones.

  • this is how you get a parasite infection. you are eating the bacteria from the animal. heat kills bacteria. its like drinking contaminated water without purifying or boiling it first. isnt this how some people get worms inside their body. eating it raw is taking a chance you dont know if the animal has a disease . its like unprotected sex. you're taking a risk.

  • They DID have fire back then you know. You can cook the meat and still be on the 'caveman' diet.

  • raw meat tastes great, but it needs salt, no salt on that nice beef is a crime

  • wow. does raw meat taste any good?

    he is hardcore! lol

  • I don't think the terms "fad" or "weight loss craze" are appropriate here. This is the original human diet. Grains, dairy, refined sugar, etc are relatively recent departures from this basic human diet.

  • encore un malade mental laissé en liberté.

    Une horreur! repoussant infect!

  • This guy does NOT represent the paleo community.

  • @Under21convention07 he seems pretty much on the mark to me

  • @Under21convention07 seems like a good representation to me.

  • the whole part of it costing him a lot turns me off. i hear that he fasts at times and eats hardly anything during a day and works out a little more.

  • nom nom nom om nom

  • Wow, what's with all the hate? Last I knew the USA was a free country where people are free to eat and spend what they choose. Note that the reporter said he spends UP TO $70/day--not $70 every day. More power to ya Vlad. Don't let the haters get to you.

  • just stop eating cheeseburgers and huge portions you fat yanks. you dont need a caveman diet to be slim.

  • The so-called caveman diet isn't about being slim, nor is it a "diet" in the sense of being a weight loss regimen. It's a way of eating, and for many people also a way of being, which imparts the greatest health and vigor. Having a lean, muscular form is simply a wonderful byproduct of true inner health. Being slim is not a very laudable goal in itself.

  • @jsadberry

    PERFECT!

this is exactly what I've tried to tell people

You nailed it - just my words!

I could not have said it better myself

Check out Staffan Lindeberg web page:

    staffanlindeberg(dot)com

    and

    direct-ms(dot)org/rogermcdougall

  • hunt that shit with your bare fuckin hands and eat it while its still alive that is how i roll, caveman for life

  • way to go Vlad. I do love eating up a raw steak package at the coffee tables in front of Whole Paycheck. but I'd say $70 is way overpriced unless you are eating out a lot. I feed a paleo family of 4 in Honolulu on a third of that.

  • We humans long ago "adapted" to cooked foods and the massive calories they allow us to ingest rapidly...for better or for worse, we've "evolved" beyond even our fairly recent "caveman" past. We'd do poorly stripping leaves off branches like our ape cousins.

  • cooking changes the chemical structure of food and the fruit cells become dead which the body rejects as a foreign substance

  • humans are primates. other primates eat only raw fruit. therefore humans are supposed to eat only raw fruit.

  • your fuckin stupid, chimps are known to hunt and eat other animals jackass

  • this is done because the animals are competing with the chimps for berries and nuts. eating their competitors results in more nuts and fruit for the chimps

although this does happen occasionally it is less than 1% of the chimps diet for the year

  • Our closest *living* primate relative, the chimpanzee, eats very significant animal source foods from hunting. Some groups do so prolifically. They get as, if not more, significant protein and fat from insect consumption. So if you eat only raw fruit, you're going WAY lower on the chain than even the chimp. That being said, our closest living relative is not anywhere NEAR as close as our closest non-living relative: Neanderthal man, who was very nearly a pure carnivore.

  • According to Jane Goodall, they only squeeze out the meat juice, and in that form, animal products only constitute about 1% of their diet.

  • We may be more closely related to bonobos than we are to chimps (last I heard, we shared genes for empathy not present in chimps, amongst other ones), and these cousins are much less prone to aggression and hunting (actually helping and playing with smaller animals)...

  • ... It is believed that this peacefulness is partly because they live in areas where food in the form of fruit, shoots, and herbaceous vegetation is more abundant, which in itself leads to a more peaceful society, but also, since food is easier to find, there's more time for female-to-female bonding, which allows thus empowered females to regulate the men to peaceful behavior.

  • actually about 1% of the diet is meat and the other 99% of the diet is divided pretty evenly among green leafy vegetables and fruit

  • 5% of a Chimpanzee's diet is composed *just* from termites, let alone other insects. Greens and most wild fruits have very low calorie/nutrition density while insects have among the highest in nature, making the total dietary impact of the insect consumption incredibly much more than 5%. You are severely misinformed about meat consumption. Males hunt meat year round, from all classes of small mammals.

  • no termites and small animals compose 1% of the diet

greens and fruits have vastly more nutrition than any termites and meat from small mammals

the caloric intake from fruit is more than adequate

you are misinformed, probably from junk science financed and corrupted monsanto

    humans and chimps are primates

should we have a meat diet like lions who are our very distant relatives or should we have a fruit diet like our fellow primates? its not rocket science

  • I didn't know you were a tinfoiler, or I wouldn't have ever bothered to reply. My misinformation comes directly from anthropological data accumulated over many university financed research field studies, not vegan and fruitarian propaganda sites.

  • you read too much junk science financed by the beef industry.

uncorrupted athropological and scientific studies proof that primates are meant to eat only fruit, nuts or greens.

the consumption of anything else causes disease including arteriosclerosis and cancer.

  • @signboyy but we aren't primates?

  • @markitymark90 humans are not primates?

  • @signboyy Yeah, i'm pretty sure were not primates

  • @markitymark90 i guess you dropped out of high school before you took any biology classes

  • @signboyy You kidding me? we're a total different genus from primates that's why we're called *Homo* Sapiens. I took a Anthropology class in College so don't insult me. Our arboreal ancestors ate fruits and nuts but once we made the step to land we became scavengers eating tubers, nuts, and you guessed it, meat. Sticking to nuts, fruits and greens is a total regression in evolution. Sorry, but eating like a chimp isn't going to make you any healthier than you already are.

  • @markitymark90

The Hominidae (anglicized hominids, also known as great apes[notes 1]) form a taxonomic family, including four extant genera: chimpanzees, gorillas, humans, and orangutans

    wikipedia

  • Comment removed

  • @signboyy So maybe I was wrong but I still don't see the correlation between meat eating and cancer. After all, if it weren't for our ancestors eating meat, we wouldn't have evolved the way we did (being the most intelligent apes).

  • @markitymark90 well humans may be able to digest meat for brief periods of famine which enabled them to survive in colder environments and thus allowed humans to branch out into environments that other primates were not able to. nevertheless a long term adherence to this famine diet consisting of meat will result in cancer and cardiovascular disease.

  • it wasnt the meat, it was all the greens and fruits/superfoods that were gathered, antioxidants and whatnot that fought off diseases

  • @signboyy oh wow dipshit, i guess thats why some monkeys hunt and kill other animals with spears and stuff.

  • @CBRADIOLOVER

    lmao

they use spears? do they use bows and arrows too? lol

  • @signboyy look it up mayn. they slaugter and eat another species of monkey and other animals.

  • @CBRADIOLOVER

they occasionally kill animals which compete with them for fruit but its not for food and they dont use spears

  • @signboyy wrong, do yore research

  • @CBRADIOLOVER

my research is probably more extensive than "yore" research

  • Comment removed

  • he is right about everything except the raw meat. hunter gatherers ate raw fruit and fire cooked meat.

but probably the most healthy diet is just the raw fruit and nothing else.

  • why would that be more healthful?

  • because being primates we should only be eating fresh fruit

do you see chimpanzees eating raw meat?

the only reason we crave it is because the first time we ate meat , the bacteria which eats meat established themselves in our stomach. the bacteria release chemicals in our body causing us to crave meat so that the bacteria gets the meat it needs

but if you dont eat meat for a month that bacteria can be killed off and then your craving for meat will disappear...until you eat meat again

  • First of all, yes, chimpanzees eat meat.

Secondly, can you please tell me where you heard that meat craving bacteria established themselves in our gut? I've never heard of that theory and would like to investigate. However, If that theory were true, wouldn't a course of penicillin result in a vegetarian?

Also referring back to your original point, I don't believe a vegan, let alone an all fruit diet, is more healthful then an omnivorous diet. My reason for thinking t

  • . . .this is because people on a vegan diet often do not get all the nutrients they need, specifically vitamin B12, without supplements, but an omnivore doesn't have this problem.

  • chimpanzees eat small animals as a way of eliminating their competitors who compete with them for nuts, berries, fruit, and leafy greens

  • well why would the chimps be immune from the meat craving bacteria then?

  • that is also a possibility.

just as humans develop a craving for meat due to introducing meat eating bacteria into the digestive system from eating meat one time, the same may apply to chimps.

the first time they ate a small animal due to competition elimination or due lack of access to fruit, nuts or leafy vegetables, that is when the meat eating bacteria was introduced.

the point is just because you crave meat due to that bacteria doesnt mean it is natural for you to eat meat.

  • but I don't think that this bacteria exists, can you please at actually tell me the name of this bacteria or point to some scientific study on it?

  • your hunger for certain foods is caused by chemicals released by bacteria in your stomach who feed on those foods

    its a symbiotic relationship

  • yes, but what is the bacteria called?

  • lactobacteria=bacteria which eats lactose(milk)

    meatobacteria=bacteria which eats meat

actually i was kidding about the second one, you will have to wiki it

  • when you say lactobacteria, I can only assume you mean lactobacillus, which survives on the sugar found in milk. Well first of all, milk is not meat, but for the sake of argument, I'll ignore that. Lactobacillus is found in the stomach intestines and vagina and aid in the fermentation of sugar from milk and fruit. when they consume the sugar, it doesn't create enzymes that make you crave more, it produces carbon dioxide and lactic acid..

  • yes the sugar in milk is lactose

milk is animal tissue, not a plant

your cravings for certain foods are not caused by bacteria as a result of food consumption, its caused by enzymes they release to provoke you eating it so that they recieve it

  • @signboyy If thats true then I have a question. can you throw up and lose your apitie

  • @Doitonhigh when you throw up the bacteria have already gotten what they needed. or the bacteria were expelled from throwing up or the food that didnt get thrown up is still in there and is enough for the bacteria to be satisfied.

  • i thought eating raw meat could lead to tape worms?:S

  • it can but they got meds for that im sure
