I like the 70s Easy listening Jazz quality this version's got.

To me, the most iconic portion of the song was the part where it descends(:12sec -:18sec). It was so different from other toy commercial songs and such an interesting turn.Its like it descends into robot apacalypse.

This is actually the first ever version of the theme, and was used in commercials for the Marvel comic and the first series of toys. I remember noticing the change when they rescored the theme for the cartoon...I always thought this was funkier!

Correct, the reason Japan had this was Hasbro gave Takara rights to use all their Transformers promotional media in order to get out of an earlier agreement to import a different line of toys.
