I always figured that if the crash really did happen then the US government is covering it up so that they can harness advanced weapons technology before other countries. The reason for releasing some of it such as the laser tech and fiber-optics is to partially desensitize the public to certain aspects of advance tech so that anytime the government is forced to use it in public they can explain it away as OK. None of the tech released resembles weapons tech even though they would have had some.

Well it sure is strange how the military could misidentify a "flying saucer" from a "weather ballon". And it's even stranger that many loca leye witnessess and military offcials have come out saying what crashed in Roswell was definitely not a weather balloon. I understand this was during the Cold War and relations between the U.S. and Russia were tense, but regardless of what exactly crashed in 1947, our government covered it up something and lied to us.
