Do you have an actual copy of this video you could forward to me. I am compiling a few of these for my AFF ground course and think this would be a perfect example of why arching is so critical. Thx
they did their job! which wasnt good enough, obviously didnt taught the student enough to ARCH.... hint "student" they are learning.... it's the instructor job to instruct.. which im sure they did. but not good enough...
If this is AFF then why did neither instructor signal for an arch? The whole point of this jump is getting used to signals and responding to them. No signals=poor instructors.
Fail AFF Level 1 - repeat , if the person ever came back. A lot of people take the 8 hour course do 1 jump and never come back . That's fine more room for me
@LeanderRandom Depends on how long you've been practicing. Your circle of awareness is VERY small when you first start out. It appears the student had trouble concentrating on keeping the legs extended, and when they dipped down the student's rate of decent increased. Note how the student drops lower when the legs fall.
@LeanderRandom its not relaxing the legs. your toes need to be pointed and you need to maintain a good bend at the knees but not too much. that part can be tricky on your first few jumps
(2) What the FUCK was this person thinking?! The dude literally tried to Stand Up in the middle of Free Fall. HOW do you just flat out forget to Arch ?
@emersonpla i think if they did she'd go spinning out of control lolz..... they had to get her upright before they let go.... scared shitless woman was too scared to twist her body and flip herself >.>
Damn Gina!!!!! Gotta jump out loose man. That should have been a fatality. Thank god for you there was and instructor that knew what the hell they were doing!!! Hope your level 2 went better. LOL
respect to the instructors! they never gave up on that confused student. he went the distant and pulled the chute for the student and the other instructor did his best trying to reconnect with the falling duo.
These guys knew what they were doing the one in yellow saved that persons life by holding on to her she could of spun out of control and to her death. Fair play to that.
That's serious arch fail right there lol. Not like I can blame her, I sorta had mental overload the first time I jumped...course I didn't do THAT, but still lol
Arch! Arch! Arch! Nice work by instructors. Ofcourse the student has cypress or similar, so even in total loss of control there would have been yet another safety feature still... Blue skies.
model arch right here ! Good recovery by the instructors. I applaud her flail--it makes for a one of a kind video! Her knee position right at 16 seconds kicked it all off.
Fear is a mighty power, give in to it just for a sec & you get imidiatly turned into a brainless pc of meat with a shell on the back, litieraly a Turtle with a prospectivity of wose consequences , this one went more or less save , thanks to instructors . go in a tunnel before you jump and you will understand that is indifferent if you are fly in 15 feets or in 13.000 because you will realize the "time" is the factor not the altitude! maybe the first few of jumps the longest 45 seconds in you life...but the funniest ,too.you will allways smile if you remember this time! well, relax, jump, arch and have fun ;-)
blackred474 2 years ago
@blackred474 no difference between 15 feet and 13000 huh? other then the fact u cant breathe above 12.5k w/o oxygen masks?
makesomebacon 7 months ago
@makesomebacon You can breate above 12.5 you usually have to stop worrying about it above 14.5
GeneralMills66 7 months ago
@makesomebacon That's funny, I was just on a 14,000ft mountain without oxygen and I'm doing just fine.
Jackle61 6 months ago
@Jackle61 I've been to 17,500 ft on a mountain without oxygen - however it took me two weeks of trekking to get to that altitude.
This is why I was ok - it's called acclimitisation -the body has time to adapt and become more efficeint at getting oxygen out of the air.
However on a 30 minute flight the body does not have time to adapt - hence the need for oxygen above 13,000.
jagara1 6 months ago

And I was on 13454 feet without oxygen and feel nothing strange at all :-)

@Rino11111 You're right.
Yes, the student was de-arching but the reserve-side finished the job by rolling into her.

@Rino11111 I've jumped with new jumpers fresh off student status and when they get into a vertical spin like that there is not much you can do to correct them at all, this student was not relaxed enough which led to an out of control spin, with an instructor on either side it makes it that much harder to stop the spin.
