@FUCK202 you make an excellent point, but when you learn to get your driving licence in Germany you also learn on the Autobahn. It is a mandatory part of the curriculum. There are rules on the autobahn & germans learn them making the autobahns far safer than country roads. German drivers understand brake fading & the dangers you describe, hence they don't pull out etc. Foreigners coming to Germany have not learned to drive on autobahns making them actually unqualified to drive here. with all those speedlimits here in the US ,there is no wonder why it is set so "slow",first people can and do anything ( eating ,drinking, shaving,reading etc etc ) aside of paying attention to the driving,second the responsibility level and/or education is extremly low ( you hit me i sue you ) ,third almost no one has a first aid curse/certificate to actualy help someone out in case of an accident ( we have EMS's ,let them do it i dont wanna get sue'd)

It's actually somewhat safe to be barreling down the autobahn IF your car is capable. The US is a much larger country and spending millions upon millions on maintaining motorways so that one can speed down them at 200mph would be a waste of money they don't have.

in some parts of gearmany there are 2 or 3 or just 4 lanes , its not always 2 lanes but maybe 50 % (i dont really know) and the other thing is the speed limit , here in germany you can drive as fast as you can but 40 % from german autobahns is with the speed limit of 120 , but thats not important , the fact is that that you are allowed to drive as fast as you can ...
