Well, I agree that it is conservative in the sense that it is an old style, but it it still well done and appealing to me. And I'm not generally conservative in my taste in music, but I can't complain about this. It's probably best not to be too dogmatic or cerebral in our reactions to music.
She is brilliant player and many of these preludes repay interest-but too old fashioned for me .So what? took a figure from violin writing later used by Schumann famously in his symphonic etudes & made this.It aint Rochberg or Sciarrino or Boulez but it's old fashioned. Many willlike ti but that means nothing. Many will never like Rochberg. Writing music in our time what's the payoff ? .U do it cuz u gotta- it's in yo system!!!
if i could play the piano like this (not that i even play piano) i would play this and songs like danse savage at airports and public venues.....but then i would probably get arrested or the piano would break..... lol

Unfortunately Lera thinks that she was born on 1850....
i prefer to hear chopin and liszt than this crap who present them as contemporary music,
She is a product for people who don't have any idea what experimental music is,and gives them satisfaction like avro part......but unfortunately for them......Art goes forward...and the composers who going back to the past....history shows how stupied they are
So if it's not "experimental music" it's crap? And any conservative composer is automatically worthless to your mind? Bach, Mendelssohn, Grieg, and Rachmaninov didn't go "forward." Are they stupid?

Bach, Mendelssohn, Grieg, and Rachmaninov where very experimental at their time. experimental music doesn't mean necessary sounds and noises..BUT lera aurbach goes back copying Liszt and chopin, putting a cover of some dissonance to cover her trucks....She is a media product.Every musician who respect arts is laughing at her...Then the question is:What is the difference between kleiderman and Aurbach?
I'm surprised you think Grieg and Rachmaninov were "very experimental." To me they were die-hard conservatives who looked to the past. We could just as easily say they copied Liszt and Chopin, and covered their tracks with chromaticism.
I don't think you've heard enough of Auerbach's music if you think she sounds like Chopin, and comparing her to Clayderman is absurd. Her music is closer to Schnittke than anything else.
grieg was romantic and it is normal to be similar with liszt. Rachmaninov was a special case but don't forget..100 years ago.We live on the 21 century and after such development in music,i think Aurbach is a " composer " who sails because she satisfy listeners who don't like contemporary music. She is a media product and they presend her like the model of Liszt or chopin..The virtuoso composer who can improvise. But the truth is that they never play her music in major festivals.Only in USA or UK
There was 'musical development' a hundred years ago as well, and from what you are saying, you seem to be implying that whoever tries to emulate the composers of the past with her own personal touch deserves 'to be laughed at'. That is pretty much bullshit. Might as well laugh at Mendelssohn for emulating Bach and at Chopin for drawing from the inspirations of Mozart.
Actually if we do listen to some of her orchestral works-the two symphonies for example it is brighter than the sun that schnittke was somewhre in her mind....
@Hexameron No to defend the guy you responded to or anything (I heartily agree with your overall point of view on Auerbach), but Grieg was actually far more experimental than people think. His late songs and piano music frequently foreshadow impressionism and modernism -- the Peasant Dances, for instance, sound almost Bartókian in places.
@Hexameron Rachmaninoff copied Liszt and Chopin? JAJAJAJAJAJA! PLEASE, stop saying nonsenses, jajajaja. You have no idea about music, right. And this music has nothing to do with Schnittke. This is just an harmonic excercise. There are no deep ideas here. Just fast notes. Rachmaninoff is so much propositive than this crap.
@EdiEllerymissing i totally i agree with you on that one =) Rach couldnt have copied Chopin. Chopin was the peak of the Romantic period. You could easily distinguish a Rach piece from a Chopin piece.

Everybody on this site is talking about it reminds me to ....... i hate this.
Even the great composers are influenced by other composers.
It's more the way you express yourself in the music.
The experimental period is over and everything is already done before.
So there is nothing wrong to take some ideas from Liszt or Bach in your own vocabulary.

she got the formation idea from Schumann symphonic etudes. and she gives it a Bachian /schnittke twist. Her other preludes are really fascinating!
