Linux Ubuntu 11.04, but I've used Linux Mint 10 KDE and I've used multiple distros in a Virtual Box, but I left Mint because it didn't support my hardware. Ubuntu is a very fun operating system to use for me. I've been using Linux for about 2-3 months now?
I hate the way linux uses multiple monitors, if your screens aren't on the same high the is a lot of dead space in which you can lose a lot of programs.
same as mine (I've got WIN by this time but I 'm gonna put only linux -with the same dual monitors of course and prop if 64studio or kubuntu-) so I looked for a vid just like that.. Its gonna be amazing! good work dude :) loved it
Btw maybe you can help me see every time i try to start CSS it will work for about hmm 30 seconds-20 minutes before it locks up my whole computer (and yes i am using sabayon 5.1) to the point that i have to unplug it for it to shutdown i am using a ATi Radeon 4350 if that helps.
Considering they all use the same damn Window Managers and what not any Linux Distro can look like the other, all that matters is how they're maintained.
Very nice man! I have a core 2 quad and i am downloading the 64 version of gnome. Do you know if its compatible? Its says here that its for the amd processors. Thanks
amd made 64 bit processors popular, intel made 32 bit processors popular. whenever you hear something like i386, the i stands for intel, but it doesn't mean its not amd compatible. so yes, it will work
great vid, with some changes you put a multi touch on your computer, then 2 persons can use at the same time, i just want to know how to split the destkop in 2 3D cubes and put one wallpaper in each face.
(and split the sound in one aplications per output.)
woaaa, you are using two monitors extending the linux desktop, how did you do that? I can do it on windows but in linux just won't work (i have ubuntu studio). If anyone can tel ll my,i'll be really gratefull.
Actually, it's Gigi d'Agostino's The Riddle. If you use iTunes, they did a bad job at track names. On iTunes it's labeled as "Cuba Libre" (which is not correct, but they refuse to fix it)
Dell are for the loss anyway. HP ftw interms of reliability and service. For instance, dell servers slap on a stupid high res background which breaks RDP by default, WTF?! Dont get me wrong, linux is a brilliant alternative to windows, but there is still so many problems with WINE ect. I did manage to get Eve working on my Ubuntu 8.10, but the sun and trails were screwy. I admit, im still using windows and am crap w/ linux, but i can see a lot of potensial there.
yah, i really wish WINE was better, but hopefully things will get better with time. considering its open source. props to the devs that put hard work into open source for little pay.
It also should be mentioned that all this can be done using less then 1gb of RAM (I start up my comp with 228mb used, and all these effects are also there)
Oh! in that case then you don't need linux as much lol... as for my knowledge, graphic intensive apps and games are mostly for windows or a little for mac.
I know Wine, I've used it myself many times. You have to keep one thing in mind though, not all programs run the same as if they would on a windows... there are many issues.
As to the best of my knowledge Wine can't run 64-bit apps.
Well, I have noticed some very minor issues when running SOME windows apps, but I rarely ever get major issues. You are correct with the fact that not ALL Windows apps run on Wine, but that is besides the point. The point I was trying to make is that you can play Windows apps on Linux. It may not be perfect, but it can be done.
It only supports one wallpaper in the mode I have running, I just photoshopped my two wallpapers into one pic so it looks like two different wallpapers. There is another mode where you can treat the other monitor as a different cube and desktop.
hey you ever able to get mythtv up and running on that tuner card? mine is a wintv go plus just like yours. i was able to get the bttv drivers up and running, [as in, kdetv, tvtime, vlc, everything worked] but myhtv just would NOT run. so just wondering have you been able to run mythtv with your tv card?
not heard that song in years man, thanks for bringing it back :p
Cool video man, downloading Ubuntu right now, definitely won't abandon windows, but i see no harm in also having Ubuntu or Sabayon in a dual boot on my other PC. Once I get the cash together for a Mac i'll have all 3 and won't have to think about OS's ever again lol.

Linux is definitely the best.
I use Fedora 11x86_64, (64bit edition).
After using linux for over 2 years you don't want to use windows at all.
Also virtual environments are perfect for testing new distros.
This all in all looks very much like Fedora.
I'm going to give this a try but i'll virtualize it.
