This is absolutely my favorite Numan track ever. It's like an anthem to me, I have to say this cover does the original justice. I think it could use a bit more reverb and a bit more power in the percussion (the rolling toms kill me in the original), but it isn't bad at all.
Wow, there is talent and good taste here. This song is perhaps the best choice in order to define Numan style. The video is superb, with a very good selection of photographs. Song arrangements are pretty accurate and original. Interesting voice and well performed. Simply amazing!
I think Numan used polymoog or roland jupiter for "cars" and "observer" but your string like pad is nearly the same, what synth did you use? jx 8p?
thanks for the kind comments. Ididnt actually start out to do 'Films' and kind or realised it was starting to sound very Gary Numan, so I had a go at doing it. It's my second cover & I may do a few more from different artists.
The synth is a Jx-8p with a modified 'soundtrack' preset. One of it's best. I used to not like the JX much but since spending a bit of time with it, I appreciate it's qualities a lot more now.
This is so hard hitting and punchy..absolutely fantastic rendition! Vocals are really good ..love those FX !! I really adore the way you have woven your own vocal expression through this track...honestly... better tribute than any other band has done IMO !! Hats off to you mate !
