You do not get rep, but you usually only get a Halaa Battle Token if you kill an enemy player. Nowadays there are only few players there to kill and wha tI described at the side is a way to kill yourself in order to get those marks. You can get the required 170 marks in about 1-2 hours easily.
i just tried this, with a 66 hunter, a 80 paladin, and a 74 warlock. hellfired to death but none got a mark.
tried with pvp on and off. must've been fixed

I believe that the crystal was nerfed, but Hellfire should still provide a mark for all in the party.
