Wow haha how could that even be possible? Going by your garbage channel and your dick face that sounds more like what a amateur like you faces all the time in the hands of a preschooler.
?? Hate on arcades? The redundant ones like those in your area? Of course, anytime.
It's not genuinely abandoned as long as electricity is used in the room, and the games are technically functional, and open for business. BTW: If it's Niagara Falls, NY your talking about, that's understandable. The whole commercial and industrial areas are pretty much dumps.
What's the game between Soul Edge and Cruisin' USA? That's the only one I didn't recognize. I was impressed to see that they have Vampire Savior! I've never seen that in the wild.
Never did I think a room so BRIGHT could be so downright DEPRESSING. Not only that, but these games are SOOOO old, even old as hell for '07. It's like the owner just did "eenie meenie meinie moe" to pick random games and stuck them in an arcade.
It's like a living body with absolutely no soul :-(
Im 14. and I love these RETRO games that are dieing. I am a hardcore gamer who loves halo, but I wish I could go to arcades like this. Now there dead, and kids my age these days just want to play games like COD where you just kill each other a millon times. The Xbox 360 is getting a free game room like this where you create your own arcade. But you buy ever game when you walk around your arcade. hope I can make mine like this. Cant wait to play some retro games :D
Somewhere, rotting away in the arcade of an antiquated, dying mall, is a "Polybius" cabinet. I just need to find it. (No, I wasn't intentionally referencing that Simpsons gag, either.)
It looks like whoever ran that arcade just stuck a classic Ms. Pac Man amongst a lot of crappy fighters, and threw an arcade sign on the front. I doubt that arcade had been running since the 80's. In just about every mall, there's a little game room of some kind, charging people almost a dollar to play a game they could probably play online for free, or on another gaming system. Arcades in the 80's were much more fun, not some dank, plain, blindlingly white crap-hole like this.
@kaboompoop, it looks like it's been abandoned since the mid-late '90s. Games like Primal Rage and the Johnny Mnemonic pinball from '94 & '96 gave it away. Even in the 90s they had proper, dimmed lighting.
You're right, this super-white fluorescent setting is truly awful.
@kaboompoop SO true. Though unfortunately Game Rooms aren't as ubiquitous as they once were. The arcade scene is dying a grisly death. Seems the only things that are surviving are either filled with ticket redemption games or mixed with lan cafe services. It's a God damned shame that we have to rely on trinkets and game consoles to keep arcades alive.
that's sad. hard to find decent arcades these days. the only ones really left around here are the cheesy family chain ones that have nothing but shitty ticket games. i want my early 90's arcade back again. the one i spent the better part of my childhood practically living in... :(((((

for me, there was one near me, but now, the closest one is near the florida mall. man, did i spend 20 bucks on many games including Winter Games for the NES (now infamous due to AVGN) and the SNES port of Pit Fighter.
Yeah this is the real big issue, it's MUCH cheaper in the US to play at home then at an arcade. It's more social to play at an arcade but it's a massive waste of money to do so. I've seen arcades were you have to pay $1 to play the games. That's utter bullshit. I don't care if it's Hot Sex:The Arcade Game. You make it so it's a quarter to play!
Look up Virtual Arcade 1984. Also, it's true that Arcades go out of business not because people don't like them - it's because they started charging WAY TOO MUCH MONEY for each arcade. I stopped going when Pacman was costing me 75 cents a game, and other games went up to 1.00. Adults like arcades, but they're mainly for kids. And kids aren't going to be able to sink that type of money in them. Get a arcade like 'Virtual Arcade 1984" charge 25 cents a game, and sell concessions.. it could work.

A Johnny Mnemonic pinball machine. Imagine that. The vid was really depressing, I miss being able to walk into one. Consoles catching up changed the gaming landscape though, not fighting games. Those were the only games keeping the last few in my area left on life support before they vanished completely.
Pinball games make me feel nostalgic too, and they went downhill well before arcade-style video games did. You had the simple pinball games in the beginning, and then there were innovations like Centaur and Haunted House, then Black Knight 2000 and Dungeons & Dragons...I think the last new pinball game I played was Lord of the Rings, back around 2004. The only thing that is good about this mall is the arcades! The Krow's nest is excellent. The only stores worth visiting are Sears, Steve and Barry, and Bon Ton and probably only if you are female. The rest of the mall feels like a flea market with people hocking their goods. Pretty much every small storefront fails here, fleamarket type stores open up but they shut down quickly, I have seen many fail. If its not a chain store, it will fail in this mall.
I know this may sound weird but I would have dreams about stuff like this everynow and then, where i'm in a place and theres old arcade games there. And there just happens to be that creepy lookin weird game in the corner part of the arcade. Usually dreams like that had me wondering what it meant.
slipknot, that doesn't sound weird at all. I often dream I'm walking through an arcade (which, according to my dreamer's dictionary, supposedly means that intriguing temptations will be put in your path). Often I'm looking for older "electromechanical" type games, or very unusual pinball machines multi-level playfields or other games within them. And I usually find them.
I am not sure, the games might belong to the owners of the mall. It just seems they have been dumped there from another mall though, because these same games used to be at another mall near me, but had to be removed when they removed the arcade to install more cell phone provider stores.

An arcade should be the electronic equal to a pool hall.
It should be dark with limited lighting in given areas.
The ideal would be within the food court area, but off to the sides somehow.
The games should be classics, read old worn units that have seen better days.
But like the payphone, this is out of fashion, people can play games on the portable console that is the cell phone.

they mean "abandoned" as in "Dead time" meaning the mall is open but (almost) no one is in the building

an ABANDONED mall with the power still on... um, no. There is a difference with just closed and abandoned. Dixe Square... THAT is abandoned.

Ok the arcade is abandoned but is this mall still open with shops in it?

I am not sure, the games might belong to the owners of the mall. It just seems they have been dumped there from another mall though, because these same games used to be at another mall near me, but had to be removed when they removed the arcade to install more cell phone provider stores.
