The thing I like the most with those kind of videos is that they bring a fucking 100 wats marshall beast and an amazing sound compresors and stuff and then you can hear an amazing sound comes out of the speakers...but when you will get the guitar and plug it to your peavey solo tiny amp...that's gonna be sucks...

ive had this guitar for many years and have bin looking for real les paul customs.... cant find one that playes better yet. got a custom bigsby put on a new hardware and new pickups thing is pretty much all the same except the headstock and plus gibson failed at the current rosewood they were gona put in the new customs and this has it! great guitar

@Slash8270 Hey Slash. "Les Paul" is a body type, meaning it's the way that the guitar looks like on the exterior. It's a common and great body type, and thus many companies use it. Epiphone and Gibson are two separate guitar companies. Both have made this guitar, but the Gibson version is much, much better. The Epiphone version of this guitar (in the footage above) is great though, and I'm excited to pick one up hopefully within the next two weeks!

I use 9 and 10 guage strings i have no plablems with tuning. Some of my guitars have Grover 14:1 and Wilkinson deluxe 14:1 no ploblems with eaither.

Part-2 the one and only reason Epiphone guitars a sooooo underpriced is the fact there made oversea's period. As time go's on this will change because you have more and more top named players choosing Epiphone and even over Gibson. Epi's are Brilliant!

@UnKnowN240100 Personally, I have tried both the standard and the custom. The standard sounded a little too bright whereas the custom sounded warmer and had more sustain. It also looked a lot better, i know own an epiphone les paul custom black and love it.

Depends.

The Gibson is all mahagony (if you talk about the 650 euro version) --> better for metal imo

The Epiphone got a maple top ---> better for rock imo

Plus: the Gibson will hold it's value better if you want to sell it someday.

You could also consider the Ibanez ART-Series, I find them to be awesome LPs.

@JiggaBooJive Hi, I'd look at a combo with a bigger speaker to get a fuller sound but still with a few options for channels and fx. Check out the Marshall MG50fx or DSL401, The Blackstar HT20 combo, Peavey Vypyr range and the Fender Mustang 3. The MG50 might be the one to suit your needs if you like the sound on the demo.

@JiggaBooJive If you're looking for a Marshall on a budget and want one that sounds like its bigger and much more expensive brethren I would check out the Haze series. The 40W combo is loud enough for any situation and the 15W stack is probably just about as loud.

@danlash656 Zakk wylde uses an EMG 81/85 setup for the pups. So the sound you hear from his is different from these pickups. From what I've heard too much gain on a stock LP comes out very "muddy", meaning hard to distinguish the notes, they all kinda run together. But dial back the gain and its awesome. So, if you're going the metal route, either swap the pups or pick up the ZW signature model, hope this helps.

I don't mean to be a snob, but the Gibson is superior in every way, more resonant, better stock electronics/pickups, that awesome nitro finish, better neck profile, ebony fretboard over cheesy rosewood, mother of pearl inlays instead of cheesy plastic, you may not get as much bang for your buck but you do get a better instrument.

I was thinking of getting one of these and changing the pickups to Gibson 57's but the fact that it has a rosewood fretboard doesnt seem right do you think using a tinted fretboard oil would darken it to a ebony color?

@Musicmanuk94 The pickups would take it pretty close to sounding like a real Gibson. Not sure I'd be too worried about darkening the fretboard but hey, if it won't do any harm then why not. Pop into the store and have a closer look at a few for yourself.

@Musicmanuk94 I think it varies a bit, my buddy has a white LP and its fairly light. I own one from 3-4 years ago in Wine Red which I don't think is offered anymore, but anyways it is a very dark rosewood. BTW the pickups are designed to sound like 57's and come darn close to my ear. But if you feel the need to upgrade do so
