I love The Beatles version of course but.. somehow Ray puts some real meaning into the words, never really listened to them before hearing this.. and I didn't even realise. Mr Ray Charles, you're missed!
@slapnutz.....Well there, I guess the music master has spoken....thanks for enlightening us all with your undisputable opinion! I'm going to burn all my Johnny Winter CD's now.....what a weight off!
Wowawow. Ray charles and the beatels are both great. Just other people like 1 better than the other. There realy is no need 2 argue over summit so sill. Just listen to the song and enjoy. And so wat if ray done al load of H. It helped him creat such good music.
the beatles acknowldge they werent the best, john lennon once said that ringo wasnt the best drummer in even the UK, but he was his dear friend. The beatles were about friends getting together and singing from the heart. Mr.Charles is awesome, like this stuff, georgia on my mind. Why cant we just sit together and enjoy the hardwork and talent of all theese musicans and judge people?
Este es un homenaje de este gran señor a john Lennon, tanto la version originalde Los Beatles como esta de Ray son impresionantes....te ponen los pelos de punta
haha man i wouldnt put it that way, i just like the take he gives, the beatles were great. I dont think mr.charles would want us putting other hard working and talented groups down. this is infinite times better and has infinite more class than the those covers done other groups
Much better than the Beatles...? Really? I wouldn't go that far. Ray's version is quite different but it stays pretty close musically to the original. You can at least thank Paul McCartney and John Lennon for writing such a "phenomenal" song. There's a reason why the Beatles have STILL had more #1 hit singles than any other artist in the recording industry my friend
Yeah. I think much better. Although you're misunderstanding my point. I know the Beatles wrote the song, amazing writers but their musical ability in terms of vocal range and general technique is rubbish. They're only legends because they started a new genre other than that, they're pretty average, anyone can easily sing their songs. Ray Charles made "Let It Be" an amazing blues version which is what that already great song was missing all these years. Hope this clears it up.
Ok...interesting ideas you bring up there. I definitely think you're undermining them. How many of their songs have you actually heard anyways? If you truly think they do not have vocal range listen to their song "Oh Darling!" and you'll see that Paul McCartney has a lot more "range" than you thought he ever did. And listen to "Don't Let Me Down" also and you'll see that John Lennon has as much vocal range as the next guy out there. I'd def be interested in what you thought..have a good one
Anyone can 'easily sing their songs'? Excuse me but that's ridiculous. Their 'general technique is rubbish'? Are you a musician? I am, and I can tell you that although they may not have the chops that other musicians have, they were kind of busy inventing chops. Hope this clears it up.
I think their songs a vocally easy to sing. I'm not saying they're bad songs, they are great and when they were recorded, they were one of their kind. But the vocals are simple plain and unfortunately in my opinion, boring. There is no soul to the vocal as if they don't feel the song. But hey, that's only my opinion, although I have met people who strongly agree with me.
in an interview once, Lennon was asked if he thought Ringo Star was the best drummer in the world. Lennon replied that he wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles. to me, the Beatles weren't necessarily about amazing instrumentals or vocals. they seemed to have a close bond or friendship that didn't need to be announced; you just knew. there was no trading of band members, anyone dropping out. they just seemed to enjoy the work that they did.
Interesting story there. I can believe that though. Ringo is always the Beatle that never gets enough credit though - him and George both. That's cool about what you said about the difference between Ray and The Beatles. I personally think that the Beatles song "Oh Darling!" from Abbey Road has just as much soul and feeling as any Ray Charles song if not more. They're all good though. The classic artists were the best. Always will be. I love Georgia On My Mind
Wow..probably the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time...There's a reason why the Beatles have sold more records than any other artist in the history of music...they're the best. I love Ray and all, he's great, has a bunch of great songs, but NO one compares to the Beatles. Music changed forever, and the world for that matter, when they came from Britain
I know a hell of a lot more about it than you. Look it up online. Over-rated doesn't make you the best selling recording artists of ALL-TIME you dumb motherfucker. Ray Charles isn't even in the top 10 on that list. You've probably only heard a couple Beatles songs anyways, you have no clue just how amazing they are
First of all you're a son of a bitch and second of all it doesn't tell the WHOLE story but it sure as hell means they aren't "over-rated". You'd be a fucking idiot to think that, only 2 artists in the history of music have sold more than a BILLION records WORLDWIDE in their lifetime: Elvis and The Beatles. That's it. To say they are over-rated is a fucking disgrace. And there is NO way in HELL you know more about music than me. Fuck you
You look like a faggot. You cannot be taken seriously. You're too busy giving head, you have no time to listen to music. Beatles are overrated, a product of the drug induced 60s.
All you talk about is "fag" this and fag that...maybe YOU should look at yourself in the mirror. Most people who talk like you are HIDING some of their own "skeletons" in their OWN closets...Did your fucking mom teach you how to talk like a piece of SHIT?? I bet she did. I bet she also spanked the fuck out of you as well which is why you're such a bitter low-life. You no NOTHING about music and Ray did a lot of heroin!!! What the hell is your point? Have some respect for the Beatles you loser
Wow, do you know ANY Beatles songs at all? Weren't great singers by any stretch of the imagination? You must be on crack, seriously! I can't believe you actually BELIEVE that....even fucking RAY CHARLES would prove your STUPID, ignorant piece of shit ass wrong by saying John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison had GREAT voices. Ray and The Beatles were close friends and ANY real musician KNOWS when someone can sing. Listen to "Oh Darling!" and then tell me that Paul can't sing
@SMK121, there is something lacking because the man who created the song is not doing it who just happens to be a member of the all-time all-time band &
there will NEVER NEVER NEVER be another Beatles and WE ALL KNOW IT
like them or not The Beatles music run from 1964-70 will never be topped
while i agree with you that the Beatles were an amazing band and they were all amazing people, i do think that everyone has a right to their favorite style. and yes, Charles' version was close instrumentally, but i personally feel that his voice shows much more soul and feeling. but again, when it all comes down to it, it's all about personal opinion.
@lar2r You misunderstood. I know that everyone I listen to now (and I listen to a lot) probably based their songs on what they heard from The Beatles. I just don't think that a band with their vocal and instrumental ability (Not song writing ability) could make it now. You have to be either absolutely perfect vocally or just ridiculously outrageous to make it now and The Beatles were neither. But bare in mind, that's just my opinion (A lot of people see where I'm coming from though).

The Beatles wrote CLASSIC music but like Bob Dylan they weren't great singers by any stretch of the imagination.
Don't ever mistake record sales for greatness. Vanilla Ice and the Backstreet Boys went platinum.
The Beatles, while songwriter extraodinaires, in no way, shape or form compare to the precise soul of voice and artistry of the piano.
It's not close and suggesting otherwise displays a HUGE lack in anything musical.
Take you record sales and fuck your mother with them...and Elvis!
