The state athletic comissions provide judges and referees. The UFC has no control over who judges and refs the fights. If they did we wouldn't see Steve Mazzagati in the ring.
wow.. vs again say verses not stupid vs you sound f-ing stupid as hell... oh this is vs MATCH NO ITS A v e r s e s SAY IT!!!!!!....rant now eh!.. YOUR kicking a dead horse jabronis, im sick of people cryin about judges... get over it.. these fighters should not be goin for a decision anyway. its there fault torres should have finished the fight .period..
You have to think of this in a mixed martial arts sense, not a Jiu Jitsu or wrestling sense. Guillard did the only damage in in the fight. Torres tried for ONE kimura. Being on top and doing little to finish your opponent isn't enough to warrant a decision. If you want to see effective ground fighting, look at Sonnon's fight or GSP fighting just about anyone. Or how Hughes used to do. Being on top doesn't mean you're "Winning" as Royce Gracie or the Nog brothers can attest to.
man youre an idiot. as you said, who ran at his oppenent and was the agressor, who laid on his oppenent, while letting scramble right back to his feet? who went for a takedown, and twice got kneed square in the face? shut up, get a life, and dont act like you know what youre talking about.
funny you turn to personal insults because I am up for discussion and you don't agree with my opinion. torres wasnt damaged from the knees at all and completed his takedown after getting hit in the face. like i said rd 2 was melvins. his wasnt as aggressive as you say he was.
well if that's the case then guillards striking wasnt effecting torres much either. torres was taking the center of the octagon most of the fight. he was clearly the aggressor while it seemed that guillard was more on the defensive. guillard did alot more striking but it wasnt effecting torres much either.
the only round guillards striking looked to be effective was round 2. as for idiots saying torres did nothing on the ground that is BS. learn jiu jitsu, learn POSITION. no way did guillard win rounds 1 or 3
I disagree, most of the time the judges screw up the judging as they base it too much on who gets the takedown and who is lying on top the longest but this fight was based on damage which imo is most important in a fight
I think it was a very close fight, and I ended up giving Guillard the 29-28 decision just like the judges. Round 1 was clearly won by Torres. Round 2 was clearly won by Melvin. Round 3 was really close, and I might have even given it to Torres, but Melvin stole the round with that full mount and ground n' pound. You never know, but if time hadn't ended, Melvin might have been able to finish him with that. So I gave Melvin the nod in a close fight. Nobody got robbed, nothing to rant about.
Guillard won the last two rounds, he dealt out a substantial amount of damage and Torres did practically no damage. Getting a takedown means nothing if you don't do any damage or get a submission. Damage trumps any other factor.
You're take on the UFC having "boxing judges" could not be more wrong.
How often have we seen wrestlers win on takedowns alone?
Rashad Evans/Thiago Silva
Randy Couture/Brandon Vera
Those are just recent, there's so many other examples.
wtf. I didn't get to see that fight but I hope the word gets to ufc, if they even care. My guess is that ufc became as big of sport with boxing judges regardless. I'm a follower of you and like your rants. Keep them up man, lets just HOPE this gets somebodys attention that matters. If you need a name or something to send to ufc, I'm up for it.
3 takedowns with nothing acheived,,,,i compare that to strikers with feeble punches' they get scored less high than hard hitters,,,so its not boxing judges at fault its the perception of everyone that you need to beat up an apponent not just outskill them
torres clearly won rds 1 and 3 yet the judges seem to have a new criteria for melvin - i.e being explosive and standing up after you got taken down 4 times in a rd means you won. melvin was in every bad position on the ground yet wins. Torres had the control, had the submission attempts and some ground n pound........ sick of this judging it happened when Tibau took him down and end of rd 3 was G&P the crap outta him from the mount......yet melvin is getting the decision. BS
This isn't wrestling. You don't get points for takedowns. You get points for ground & pound & Submission attempts. He had 1 submission attempt the entire fight. And absolutely no ground & pound.
I know that he had guillard in alot of bad positions and yes he did have some ground n pound. stop saying he did nothing. Gulliard did nothing but lie there then stand up. like i said rd2 was his but the other rounds he did not win. also how did guillard win a bigger BS decision over tibau through doing the same. I'm sorry but you should not win a fight through doing that.
the sport is called mixed martial arts. come on troll some more like the youtube warrior you are. I'm not the one with 20 hate comments from other people you have trolled. now back on topic please
Takedowns do not finish fights. He didn't have Guillard in danger at any time. Ronnys didn't do ANYTHING on the ground. Chael Sonnen had an effective ground game. Ronnys took Guillard down and tried to hold position until Guillard stood the fight back up.
I do agree with you that MMA needs judges who know more about Mixed Martial Arts. But in this particular fight.
Bottom line... Ronnys didn't do enough on the ground to warrant a victory. Plain and simple.

Torres didnt win because he didnt do anything significant while he had Guillard on the ground. Takedowns by themselves dont win fights.
