  • hey i just turned 16 and i was wondering what the cost was, i got a 94 2.2 auto. i wanted more power and for what it would cost to rebuild my old 161000 mile motor and trans i could swap the 350 in and tranny. what do you think, and how long did it take

  • to get what I got in that video there it took about 2 years and 12 grand but if you don't go as exotic as mine you could probably do it much cheaper

  • @alucard231 about how cheap could a v8 swap be?

  • @TheMclovinKid well what ever the price for a 350, then motor mounts and a set of v8 s10 headers then what ever for your exhaust. The transmission will bolt right up to a 350 as long as you have a v6 in there already. But if you put big horse power in with out upgrading tranny drive shaft and the rear end you'll start breakin stuff.

  • @alucard231 Ah dang, mines a 4 banger =\

    but thanks man!

  • Does the stock rear end hold up??

  • It didn't last long. We welded up the spider gears to lock both wheels together.

The torque took care of that. Now there is a moser built ford 9" with 3.90 gears and a detroit locker. Works awesome now.

  • nice can it be done to a 1999 zr2

  • Its a chevy so I would say for sure it can be. Its a lot of work though.

  • hey man, did you do the swap yourself? i just got a 94 s10, and have a spare 383 sittin in my shop. wanna do the swap. did you run into any problems?

  • My dad and I did the swap over the winter. It wasn't actually that bad.We decided to go old school so no computer. No real problems, there are a few parts you need to do the swap. Like motor mounts and headers, both you can get specifically for the s10 v8 swap

  • yeah same here, HEI 383ci. so simple. yeah i do know you can get the mounts/headers for the s10. i just wanted to know if there were any extra things to worry about.

  • We had to move the rad forward into the rad support cause we used the stock 4.3L pullies, power steering pump, and water pump. We had to adjust the tranny crossmember to accomadate the th400, we also had to have a drive shaft made for it as well. We also found that if your tight for space when putting the engine and tranny in together just unbolt the cab and jack it up a bit. gives you more room to squeeze them in easier.

  • hmm... what did you have to do with the cross member? thanks for the tip on the cab, i will probably just put the motor in first, then put my cab on, cause motor/tranny is all ready. just doing some work on the cab

  • On the tranny cross member there is a tab on the side closest to the engine were the old tranny bolts up to. Basically all we did was lined the tab up with the new tranny then welded it on the opposite side of the tranny cross member.

  • Man that is a brilliant idea about jacking up the cab for more room...been baffled by my header problem for a couple days now....i have a 1967 327 engine i threw in a '86 s-10, newly rebuilt th350, brand new summit carb 600cfm and msd hei distributor. everything went smooth up til the crossmember like you said and passenger side exhaust flange hitting the firewall. Thanks for the simple yet great idea again lol

  • kick ass, i cant wait to go for a ride

  • short but wicked burnout

  • the best part about that burnout was that wasn't all she had.

  • probably the best video Ive seen...
