  • Question to all V-Drum users. Is there any sounds from the snare and toms acoustic wise, since they are actually not pads and have depth? Thanks for answering.

  • OOOOOOOOOOMFG 01:08 what was that?????????? look at his right stik omfg

  • Nothing wrong with traditional grip with the right hand. Everything is arbitrary. After all, the traditional grip only evolved because of the slanting of the drums in marching band. So sad that so many drummers miss out on open-handed playing and are locked to conventions like: "right-hand-> hi-hat left hand->snare, or you'll die."

  • Awesome man, Super nice wrist tech too man.

  • yes theyre good for dorms/apartments, but they sound like a fancy rockband set. sure they have some sound but they still have the prominent plastic sound

  • to manny electric drumkits has way to much Chorus/rewerb wich makes you clearly hear that its an electronic set :(

  • almost every exectronic drumset has whay too much Chorus/reverb which defenatelly make you hear this is an electric one :( - but this is one of the better sets

  • Acoustics will always sound better, i dont need power to play an acoustic, and if you dont wanna hear me drumming move out.

  • Compare the expressiveness off 2box Drumit 5:

    watch?v=YpjZWujoTDY&feature=related

    With Roland TD-20 snaredrum Expressiveness:

    watch?v=ORY_Uf1kU0E&feature=related

It speaks for itself.... 2box rules .

Which isnt strange, 2BOX DRUMIT 5 is from the guy who invented the e-Drum pioneering DDRUM (2, 3 and 4)

The LATEST version of ddrum, ddrum 4 was releast TEN years ago, listen to them here...

    watch?v=TwoMMMhxOA4&feature=related

Already then they were better than Roland....

  • The 2box Drumit 5 beats the shit out of TD-20. Roland doesn´t even have alternating samples!!! Check this out to see what I mean....

    watch?v=YpjZWujoTDY

  • too be hosnest, if i heard this without seeing it, i would think this is an aucoustic kit.

    anyone agree?

  • don't ask why but i would never wanna see a drummer use these but if you were a "serious" basement or stay at home drummer i'd buy these ahead of a acoustic kit.

  • i really cant stand electric kits :( the drumming itself is really funky though

  • Great drumming. Made it looked so easy and effortless.

  • Drumm styling and technique is astounding.. Doubles and diddles? Wish you would just break down the whole thing lol

  • Your holding the traditional grip in the wrong hand...

  • Every body is always debating Acoustic and Electric. Acoustic sets give you a natural feel, better dynamics, and a more human sound than most electric drum sets. But you usually have to mic the crap out of them. 12 Mics for a five piece set with four cymbals. Electronic drum sets give you more set options, they're smaller, quieter, and are MIDI capable so you don't have to spend $700 on mics. They're both equal. It just depends on what you're doing.

  • This was amazing!! Well done!!

  • holy fuck man that was sick!

  • Great druming but my 2 Box sounds way better

  • i used to play on this kinda set, exact brand model and everything, its an amazing electronic kit

  • i love electronic drum sets, but i personally wouldn't play one without headphones.

  • lol reverse traditional?

  • why didnt you record the midi output to load up the drum sound?

  • very najs thumbs up dude

  • mad steez.

  • Everyone says acoustic is better and they are right for some reasons. But trust me, I own a TD-12KV and theres alot of fun to have with it!

  • that kit is fucking great

and whoever tells different it's a retard .<-

  • awesome drumming

  • The strokes are making the drums shaking about. Lol

  • wish i could afford one of those ): want this one so bad

  • i've never seen traditional grip with right hand!!! ahead sticks are the beeeeest!!

  • Im sure its just the settings but the cymbals sound like poo, and for some reason I like the oldschool hard pads more than these mesh heads. not sure why. I probably just havent played a good kit yet.

  • So nice dude ! :D

  • Do you find it easier having your spds in the position on the video or near the Hi Hats?

  • OMG this guy is so coooooooool. What I want to know is,how do you get the music on i tried other vidz but nope,do you hit them the panel thingy or something?

  • a joy to watch

  • traditional grip with the right hand??

  • @aaronled lefty

  • @aaronled,

That struck me as odd too. I've never seen a lefty play traditional grip on a right handed kit before. Seems like that would be very hindering when playing on the floor toms, especially the 2nd floor tom.

  • It would be nice to hear a direct feed from the brain, rather than hearing all the plastic and rubber sounds.

  • @MikeyRB77 i agree, lol. prolly cause he has it on amp

  • wtf?

    reversed traditional?

  • Simply dynamic and a lot of fluidity.

    Thank you very much.

  • nice catch at 1:10! Ive dropped sticks in the past, but never quite recovered with that finesse. Well done.

  • thought this was pretty much horrible sounding :/ good playing but, if your gna spend years practicing make sure it sounds good when you start playing :/

  • Great!!

    Very cool!

  • i want

  • did you switch to traditional grip wrong on purpose?

  • @TheLiesette open handed lefty maybe?

  • @TheLiesette dude, it's lefty traditional

  • great

  • Hard time focussing on the drumsounds with the tapping noise from the plastic being so loud!

  • there are a few reasons why i prefer electronic over acoustic.

    1. noise. obviously.

    2.way easier to record.

    3.easier to tune.

4.if i want a new kit, i press some buttons and there's a completely new kit. for FREE!

5.i honestly like the feel of electronic heads better....the roland mesh heads of course...aside from maybe the kick drum.

    6. my band sounds WAY better/more professional live!!! as to where every other band can't hear the kick/hi-hats/ low tom as well..i run straight through the PA!!

  • wtf was that backwards trad grip? that was wack.

  • Relatively soon, you will hear the majority of players say "I like it, but there is just nothing like the sound of a (insert brand/model) electric kit." Just like since the 50s people have come to say that about electric guitars. And don't pretend there is a difference in the crossover between Acoustic guitar/Electric guitar and Acoustic Drums/Electric Drums. Its inevitable.

  • Ok! Let me explain this to all you know it alls! This drumset IS THE FUCKING MIOTHER LOAD OF ALL DRUMSETS...DON'T YOU DARE FUCKING TALK SHIT ON IT OR I LL FUCKING KILL YOU!!!

  • the hi hats do not sound good. can they be made to sound like paiste?

  • yeah since you can get a WAY better sound off of these drums

  • and how much is the whole set ?

  • awesome drummer, good drum, but what a damn bad recorded sound quality. somebody record this guy on studio plz.

  • That's exactly why I have the TD-9. If these kits didn't exist I never would have been able to own my own kit because I live in an apartment. Love my TD-9 but this thing sounds more realistic.

  • yeah i live in an apartment and iv got an acoustic so im gonna get me an electric kit

  • Agreed. But don't forget the stick noises (rather good noticeable on this video) and bass thumping...depending on the setup location it can still bother people.

  • loads better to record with, you kidding me lol... only for certain genres.

  • I would like to know how to run a recording line from the roland drum kit to a camera so I just get the drum sounds on the camera and me playing.

    Doug Hauf

  • to me half the fun of having an acoustic set is putting together all the different peices to make it sound the way i want it to. i would love to have an electric set but thier so damned expensive.

  • I'd say they are loads easier to record with, not better. They don't sound exactly like real kits...yet

  • wtf 1:07 stick pin or drop ?!

  • WOOT Open Handed!

Respect for this dude, I'm Open too

  • Never stand behind an electric kit with a video camera. It sounds like a bunch of practice pads.

  • Great drumming, hate the cymbal clap, i bet it would sound better with real cymbals.

  • 3:35 = rate 5 stars and jaw drop

  • I WANT THEM

  • but, the sound from cymbal is noisy, I have a complaint with my td-6 because is to noisy

  • did he flip his stick at 1:09??? too cool for freezer!!!

  • No they're not. Acoustics sound better tenfold! These sound like crap, they're only good for apartments. I'd never get one unless I had to.

  • the question is :can these electrical sets survive a "STAGE" and how reliable are they on the stage? are they Just Studio kond of !!!!!!

  • roland v-drums gives a feel of playing acoustic drum than yamaha

  • No, they sound synthetic!

  • Exactly... my acoustic kit had to be dismantled because of neighbors, now it's stuffed in a closest :( So I bought a Roland TD9 kit with a few upgrades.... and LOVE IT! Being so tight is awesome.... I'm twice the drummer on an electric kit.... very cool to play on ;)

  • man,u r AWESOME!

  • great drumming, but really nothing beats a nice acoustic set

  • true. acoustic kits do sound a lot more awesome.

but in a way. there less efficient. like there harder to take places and there ALOT more noisy (which can be a problem! lol)

    Electric problems:

    Dont feel as good.

    Dont sound as good

    More expensive.

    Acoustic Problems:

To noisy (Piss of neighbors lol)

    Harder to carry around.

No extra features (some electric kits have over 100 differt effects and kits to play on the module)

  • agree

  • i agree, but that thing f*ckin rocks!

  • what about when you've got severe hearing damage and tinnitus? not everyone can play acoustic drum kits. the TD-20 is amazing.

  • it was a electronic set

  • I have both, nothing the 20 does comes near my old Gretsch. but the electronic kits have a place.

  • That's true. I own a V-Drum Kit, and it's great... But the "feel" of an acoustic kit just can't be beat... At least not to date. Especially the cymbals. The Roland cymbal sounds are great, but the feel is really lacking. I'm looking forward to what Roland comes out with next...

  • acoustic drum is the best!

  • yamaha dtx is way better

  • awesome playing. but the point of it is lost on me! v-drums just take all of the soul out of playing a drumkit. i find the sound they create is just really hollow and dull.......they are still only good for messing about on, practising and playing electronica!!!

  • @dowie999 then you've obviously never lived in a flat / apartment / terraced house / semi-detached house, and been longing to play drums, but couldn't due to the noise aspect! If you had, you'd soon understand the benefits of having drums you could play through headphones! Then there's the fact it is a more compact setup probably requiring less maintenance.

  • DAWNNN that was I good skills!!!!!!!!

  • haha 1: 08 nice

  • damn i cant stop watching this video especially rewinding at 3:29-

  • this video is the shit wish i could play like that mad props dude damn your good

  • lars ulrich sig sticks?

  • Even tho..the recording was not done perfectly...YOUR play is way cool! I have the same set, but really cant play that good, lol.

  • Great skills! When you play on those plastic cymbals if the drums do not over power the slapping sound you have when you hit those cymbals,, you can really hear the slap! Sounds slappy when your working that ride , But you rock!

  • yeah!

  • Sick! Sick! Sick!...Bow Down! Bow Down! Oh man bro......i'm like....HOLY CRAPPPPP!

  • Wow. You nailed my thoughts........

  • It's hard not to avoid hitting the rims.

  • Nice!

  • very big

  • how much is it for the entire set up ?

  • 2000 to 5500 bucks. It all depends.

  • why not get a real set at that rate then...

  • this set is built so you can jam whenever you want and have multiple uses other than just drumming

  • This can be quieter for an apartment, plus easier to move around and easier for recording.

  • Because you can't adjust the volume on real drums.

  • less limitations I guess.

  • because if you get a real set it dosent have all the stuff this kit has because it has about 500+ kits built intoit to change the sound and you dont have to tune it or any thing

  • some people prefer electronic sets because they dont have to worry about tuning and heads or they want to play something quieter that wont disturb other people

  • Because you have money to burn, and flat mates and pissy neighbours.

  • Way more kits in one with that. It sounds professional and can be used to trigger for recording. You can make it sound however you want. You're really limited with a real kit.

  • its all personal preference, i would personally choose electric over acoustic because theirs so many more sounds and versatility,

  • Maybe you want hundreds of different kinds of sets all in one set? Or maybe you want to record at home without bothering to buy mics or having a perfect room to record? Or maybe you dont want to piss off your neighbors? I could go on...

  • it is a real set. millions of drummers perfer electric drums since they can actually be easy on next door ears, easy tuning, muffing and etc. more compact, and it goes on. Pro drummers use acoustic drums the most cuz its tradition. Both electric and acoustic are both real drums in the same drum family. Just like there is no "I" in team, there is no use of the word "real" to divide electric and acoustic.

  • Because you can put headphones in and not bug anyone with it if you want. The reason I'm getting a TD3.

  • Cause theses have an innumerable amount of sounds on them.

  • Versatility....sound control...perfect recording....multiple set sounds....the list goes on as to why it would be worth buying this over a regular kit

  • @HemoJeff dont forget durability. an acoustic cymbal will crack way before those do!

  • most people have acoustic drums and they buy electronic to practice on because they dont make no where near as much noise. but then you spend big coin to get the sounds and effects on the big end kits.

  • Usually people buy this for recordings while they get acoustics for live. Also those hard core drummers get this if they live in apartments or places they can't make a lot of noices. Also this instrument is like having 20 sets of drums together...or so they say that is.

  • lol exatly!!!

thats a top of the line real drum kit right there?

the only way i could see myself having 1 of these is if i was mega rich , had an amzing kit then have this in my room!

  • You're ignorant.

Many people live in apartments, and cant have the noise from an acoustic in there. Plus, these are loads better to record with.

  • @troybetz I wouldnt say better to record with, Just Alot easier, And less pricey seeing as you dont need to buy mics and stands and such.

  • @troybetz not to mention it's like having 1000 different acoustic kits and effects in one

  • @troybetz not to mention you can play guitar hero and rock band with these kits using all the pads.

  • I'm not mega rich, and I have a TD-20 and a nice acoustic kit. The TD-20 costs about the same as a mid level acoustic kit, and is awesome for practicing at home. It's as close as you can get to a real acoustic kit without the volume level. I leave my acoustic kit at the rehearsal space, and can play all I want at home... I love it.

  • Yup it is. However the sound in the vid is shit. Checkout some other videos. With TD-20 You really can't tell whether it is acoustic or not.

  • i tihnk its like 6k+ not sure tho

  • sweet

  • So fluid,great job

  • AWESOME drumming! And after awhile it sounds like tap dancing/fireworks I'm not sure why.

  • i have those exact drumsticks.

    drum on!

  • Thats more than a paradiddle!

  • are the toms and snare electronic aswell as the cymbals???

  • yes

  • you are my jesus

  • Been quite some years since the Studio 13 days, mate...good to see you still have got those mega chops! Watching you jam on my kit was always inspiring...and you were always encouraging, for which I thank you! Keep rockin'!

  • RlRRRlRLL?

Over and over and over and over and over

    Wait, A PARADIDDLE

  • its perfect man!

  • that was a sick stick recovory at 1:09

  • These are acoustic, right?

  • your an idiot

  • lovin this video. Awesome job.

  • The groove starting at 1:38 is awesome!

  • i agree

  • Great playing - even if the sound wasn't good.

  • nice

  • omg thats sooo nice ur like the best..!

  • I'm looking at lots of various settings on the Yamy Xtreme III videos, too. The Roland's may not have as many options, but they seem to sound better - more analog and acoustic. It may be response in the mesh heads.

  • i want one!!!

  • anyone selling a roland td6 with mesh snare please contact me thanks

  • nice job that wuz awesome

  • The toms at the beginning sounded amazing...but that second crash cymbal (the first one that he played) sounds like shit. The rest of it is amazing.

  • any one know why he's playing traditional grip with the wrong hand?

  • Do you find these V-Drums Easier to play on than Acoustic? Very impressed with the chops!

  • holy shit that riff at 1:20 is fucking NUTS

  • Thinkin' about getting a Roland set and stubbled across the video. I've played it over many times. You got the rhythm inside ya my friend. Good stuff.

  • Every time i go to guitar center I play these for forever cuz no one goes to the guitar center by my house. Im savin up for one tho.

  • Electric kits are nice, but, there no match for Accoustic!

  • i really miss my td20 :(

  • ugh, right hand traditional?

    it just looks so goofy

  • cool stuff

  • I gotta say, the only thing i dont like is how loud the symbals are when hit, otherwise very very nice job!

  • nice playing but on a professional level the audio blows balls, should have went direct.

  • this is an amazing video, but this is why I don't ever want an electric set, it sounds like your hitting plastic half the time, but the rebound you get from those mesh heads is amazing, yet not worth it

  • You can trap the cymbals? Shit, I didn't know that 0_0

  • Amazing,I compare you to Denis Chambers.

You have skills and fantastic techniqualitys...

  • Amazing

  • why?

  • Those rubber cymbal triggers are LOUD. Nice use of the chokes though. Love the floor tom sound

  • ...reverse traditional grip?!! cio

  • Left hander

  • he may be a left hander, but judging by his chops, he can just as easily play right handed.

  • Hmm... Strange- does that not mean he would have his kit reversed too?

  • Roland V-drums are the shittiest, most over-priced electronic drums ever concieved. Alesis' DMPROdrum module(no longer in production) was YEARS ahead of the TD-20 in every way. From trigger accuracy to velocity and nuance reproduction, etc... Roland makes terrible drum modules. Ddrum's drum brain is about the best on the market these days. I wouldn't even plug a V-drums kit up. 5,000$ practice pads. Nothing more.

    ~Manos.
