  • over 50 or not id still happily bang it

  • I've just been to see the Here & Now tour on which Belinda sings 5 songs - I'm 41 so she really was my first true crush and oh boy, she is as stunning now as she was in the 80's. She owned the place, full of fun, fab tunes and of course a true beauty in every sense.

  • i love music like this....nowadays....you see female artist dressing in their undies...to sell their music.....which is sad...even when they dont have to dress like that....

  • oh...i love this song.....

  • it took me forever to find out the name of this song and artist, mystery solved!

  • It was cool to be sweet and innocent... once upon a time

  • Beautiful. Ecstatic ballad i would call it. If you would like to hear an 80ies style Pop song by another fan of Belinda(i give it for free):

"I like to treat you bad " by ARTD

  • Fuck me, i was born in those eraaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!

When the music is equal to lollipop

  • I'm so glad I was born the year 1980! {:)

  • Not her best single-'I Plead Insanity' is pretty much the same lyrically but so much better. But of course, beats the shit out of the women 'singers' of today & Bel wasn't even one of the top 80s girls, but still miles better than what was the follow in the 90s & now!

  • 0 dislikes... that's what i'm talking about... :)

  • The 1980s. What a great time to be alive and have an artist like Belinda Carlisle belting out tunes like this. It don't get any better.

  • This is such a great song its hard to say what i feel inside from it but Belinda Carlisle is such a beautiful voice in this decade... Also very attractive if i may say so my self

  • wonderful song... I wish I could turn back the clock to 80's ... thanks Belinda suck Lady Gaga

  • WOW... BEAUTIFUL TEST AND BEAUTIFUL VOICE!!!! <3

  • The lyrics were accurate, to how it felt the first time, I fell in love.

  • love this song :)) everytime i listen to it I get a smile on my face !

  • very nices songs, Belinda is one of the best female performers ever!!!!!!

  • La seule voix à atteindre mon coeur avant d'atteindre mes oreilles....

  • Hello I search one song : the title is: julian it was Belinda Carlisle sing that song?

  • Uma das melhores musicas dos anos 80.

  • @2908751 boa música mesmo.....fazia parte da novela vale tudo...tem no disco internacional da novela...

  • She definately did justice to this song, but the real skill is in the writing - Diane Warren I believe.

  • those were my best days the 80s such awesome memories wish we could go back

  • STOP TALKING ABOPUT FUCKING BIEBER

  • @hargohargo2

    Who?? Exactly!

  • please, try to load "it feels like I've known you forever", a nice song also.. ♥♥♥

  • Love this song, and Belinda, hope she comes back soon.

  • damn this is music! fuck beiber! haha

  • Why don't they make music like this anymore?

  • Magical & timeless songs such as this just prove that the 80's produced some of the finest, most most euphoric inducing music of all time! For much of the music that came out back then had this natural authenticity, real depth, this sublime sense of wonder & this much better, more vibrant sound that still resonates! Just like this wonderfully uplifting tune! God bless the 80's, in all its undiminished Glory & Vibrancy, & God bless Belinda Carlisle for bringing us mesmerizing songs like this!

  • @sxlfkta Amen

  • @sxlfkta True dat. Nicely put. Right on.

  • I'm currently reading Belinda's autobiography LIPS UNSEALED... very interesting read. When you think of the trajectory of her career it's almost mind-boggling... from punk rock to power pop with the Go-Go's to sophisticated adult-contemporary pop songs like this one... and her most recent album is made up of French chansons. I read a negative review that once said that Belinda put no feeling into her singing. I couldn't disagree more... I think she gave this song the treatment it needed.

  • Classic

  • Another Diane Warren classic

  • @Crinwa Oh, She wrote this?... Wow, I always loved her work.

  • One of my favorite songs of the 80s; makes me think back to when I was 10 years old, got my own radio for Christmas, and discovered Top 40 music circa 1987/88!

  • Wow, this song has been stuck in my ALLL day at work so when I got home I decided to look it up on good ol' YouTube and here it is!!! Lol. I love Belinda's voice, and love 80's music as well. She had such good stuff out.

And lilemalik you are right, this - and the 90's - was when music was music. Nowaday's it's just....bleh, I can't stand it. And it doesn't matter what age you are. I'm 20 and I listen to mostly 90's music!

  • She is a bit flat in parts, but she isn't singing out of tune throughout the song. Anyway, the famous Belinda Vibrato is part of the charm....

  • to danbb, at the time Diane was a HUGE fan of the Go Go's and of Belinda's first solo record, so being friends with him, she bugged the living hell out of Rick Nowells to let her write something for Belinda's 2nd record, she specifically wrote "I Get Weak" and "World Without You" tailored for Belinda's voice. and still to this day considers this song to be one of her favorite recordings and one that solidified her as a go-to songwriter in the pop industry.

  • I didn't even actively listen to music like this in the '80's. I was a metal head. But, I had girlfriends that liked it and I'd never admit to it back then but good music is just good music. I'm a musician and everyone in my family is also and I know good music when I hear it. This song brings back some cool memories. Belinda was and is a great talent. Pretty too.

  • When we all had a good time!!! Can I please go back???

  • Comment removed

  • @whitmer73 Obviously this sold a lot of copies, because this went to #2 on the Hot 100.

  • The song itself is good, but Belinda Carlisle doesn't do it justice, she sings out of tune on the recording, so I hate to think how bad it sounded when she sang it live. Diane Warren is one of the greatest songwriters of all time; she should've given this song to someone who could sing it in tune.

  • @danbb1984 Everytime I heard her sing it live the raw vocals were just as good.

This was before the time when voice enhancement was overused.

You didn't have to have the ideal voice, you just had to be able to sing. That's why I loved this time in music.

I can't stand shows today like 'American Idol' where everyone tries to emulate distinct voice and sound of those who've come before.

  • @mastmedia You're making it sound like I'm an American Idol fan, which I am not at all. My point was, there were singers around AT THE TIME who could have done a much better job WITHOUT voice enhancement. Examples of singers with powerful voices who could sing in tune from that era: Paul Stanley (KISS), Michael Bolton, Joseph Williams (Toto). So I agree that auto-tuned modern music is worse that this, but when I think of the "great" singers of the 80s, Belinda Carlisle is not one of them.

  • @danbb1984 Belinda's raspy voice a la Stevie Nicks/Janis Joplin is one of the reasons I like the song so much. It's what makes it stand out in a sea of ballads that are meticulously harmonized.

Belinda may not be considered "great" by some standards but, in the minds of many, she truly is memorable. Something that can't be said for most artist in this era.

The fact she didn't have to get naked to do it, speaks volumes in my book.

When she hungrily growls "I Get Weak" - that's it for me.

  • @danbb1984 If the Homecoming Queen was into to hard rock, Belinda would reign.

She's the naughty girl-next-store drapped in a Victorian veil. No one comes close to wearing the mantel.

Her voice is like the sound of innocence after a summer of love. 'Mad About You', 'Circle in the Sand', 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth' just wouldn't be the same if sung by another artist.

It's like watching a hot girl taking a cool drink of water. Nothing compares.

  • @danbb1984 i kinda agree with you actually.. i just re-listened to fergie's (stacy ferguson's) version of this when she was on kids incorporated and i think she sounds a lot better than belinda!

  • @mastmedia exactly.. and as long as you sang with heart, you were good.. not so today :(

i hate american idol too, all they try to do is sound technically good but with no heart or soul.

  • This song was in the top 10 in the world charts in 1988

  • Cool!!

  • This is one of the best songs I have listened to.

  • superb

  • I used to listen to this song in the morning, as a teenager, before i went to school, has it really been that long ? *sigh*

  • {{ this is when music was music,, and iam only 12,,lol

  • @lilemalik

You're a lost cause like the rest of us! lol

  • @lilemalik i liked her ever since she first was known in the go' go's popular girl group in the 80's long live belinda carlisle

  • @lilemalik Someone who appreciates real music,i was 14 when this was released in 1988,Belinda Carlisle languished on my bedroom wall alongside a few others i could name.

  • @lilemalik can't help but think you say that just for the thumbs, we all know you like your nigger noise

  • @lilemalik

music is still music, in 2020 we will think of the millions of songs produced between 2000 and 2010 and we will have nostalgia and memories and will say that "those were the years" and won't believe how much great music there was and will probably criticize the "less-music" of 2020. I wouldn't know were to begin: Moby - Lift Me Up, Linkin Park - What I've Done, Muse - Uprising, Gnarls Barkley - Crazy, Keane - Everybody's Changing, Dido - White Flag, Bob Sinclar - Love Generation...

  • @lilemalik haha i was like 2 and a half months when this song came out

  • how good was this chick hey? definately one of the better female artists of the 80s
