I absolutely loved John Taylor. Posters of him covered my walls, and I had an album full of every photo I could find and cut out (anyone remember Tiger Beat and Teen Beat magazines?). Then there were the books, and all those pins. I would sit for hours watching MTV, back when it truly was "Music" Television, waiting for another D2 video to come on. "Save a Prayer" and "The Reflex" were my favorites (guess why).
I was really naive back then. I'm so glad I had no idea they were using drugs.
@cutandpaste1 John eventually did get clean and sober, but he admitted to using an enormous amount of drugs and alcohol in his 20s. I wonder if it was the drugs that lead to Roger Taylor's breakdown.
In some live concert footage I saw, Simon was drinking on stage, and by the things he and John were acting out with each other I'd guess they were both high as kites.
