  • If you like this check out... NeverawakE progressive rock from portland..

    gorgouse..

  • It's funny how you can sit and listen to many of their songs not really thinking too much about it.. and then suddenly the song bursts out in a fuckin orgasmic supernovaboom, its fuckin amazing! There's so much depth to their music it's insane, so many shades to be heard.

  • This is the only band that can actually make me shed man tears. d= shows how good they are, they also put me in a better mood. Thanks for the upload I plan on getting this album tomorrow.

  • my favorite album

  • "I listened to this song and it cured my cancer and I don't cry anymore nor do I feel bad because it's awesome, now thumb up this comment."

Youtube-whory comments in great Opeth-songs in a nutshell.

  • This guitar riff sounds very much like Washer by the band Slint (old early-90s indie band).

  • 4:35 for the best musical interlude on the planet. Why the hell this isn't in some bad ass movie trailers.......I have no idea.

  • Can't wait to see Opeth in October! :) woohoo

  • @kendracorpse ooo me too which venue?

  • @Xxmarkux Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg, MB! Next Saturday on the 8th :)

  • @kendracorpse Abandoned Church on Halloween Night, Front Row ;)

  • The chorus in this song is stunningly beautiful and perfect.

  • Why do I keep hearing Australia has made the creator? Surely it isn't the correct lyric.

  • @suprsonickath lol, it's "this failure"

  • The beautiful piano at the end inspired me so much, that I am now attempting to learn how to play.

  • this song at my funeral

  • I listen to this before i go to sleep.. to try and get rid of bad thoughts.. doesn't always work.. but nothings ever helped me more. Sometimes when i wake up in the morning, i feel like i want to just stay in bed all day.. opeth somehow gets me out of bed and leads me to do something with my day.. opeth is my best friend. <3

  • @sk8rt33 i know exactly how you feel. i listen to this album almost every night when i go to sleep. i have insomnia so its really hard for me to sleep or even gt tired to begin with, but somehow this album helps to put me to sleep. but no matter what, weather im tired or not, when im ready to lay down in bed i always put it on and it either helps me to pass out really fast, or it takes me on a lovely adventure through my mind and memories, if i cant sleep, i just lay listening and thinking. <3

  • I've always interpreted the lyrics as introspective, even self-invasive. Here's a being crying to the universe that while he has the ambitions and dreams of a god, he finds himself to be only a man with all the weakness and mortality that goes along with such a transient existence.

  • this song reminds me of the holocaust:D oh wait D:

  • For some reason, the color purple reminds me of Opeth. Don't know why, it just does.

  • @someoneforhim Me too..! haha! Opeth rocks!

  • This song makes me want to buy a castle with a speaker system going through the entire castle, lots of swords, and grow facial hair like Mikael.

  • who trusts in jews?

though, seriously, wow. this is such deep fucking tear in the flesh and blood of my view on music and expression...

  • because just love it

  • best song ever

  • 3:18 doesn't trust jews lol

  • @Santaslave666 what the fuck does that mean?!

  • @mayanetzer I believe he's poking fun at the lyrics.

  • I feel like a demon is going to pop out of the screen and eat me when I listen to this. <3

  • beautiful!!

  • amazing song!!!opeth till the end of time...

  • the whole damnation album has made me look at guitar playing differently. few albums have that ability. opeth is truly amazing.

  • i first heard that song a few months ago..it is amazing....god...

  • 7 people don't know what real music is

  • Damned!! the instrumental part at 4:39 it's just amazing...

  • @Tidelsson yep im totally agree with you!!

  • Geez... I'm so drunk... It seems theres a proportional relationship between the alcohol degree in veins and the likeness of this marvelous song... Cheers!

  • Man, I listen to this while I study. Perfect music for it.

  • i loooovvveeee this song!!!!!!

  • Fuck I love Opeth more than anything else, my favorite band of all time! So proud to be Swedish \m/

  • @Flaggius ABBA were good, too. You must be really proud of them, aswell!

  • @irena7777777 Oh yes man, ABBA are just too great. But I have to say Opeth is what I'm most proud of, no doubt :)

  • @Flaggius lol you should be proud dude, they are amazing, we americans have a few awesome bands too. Do you like August Burns Red?

  • @faithtwelve lol no kid no. they suck.

  • @nansarekool It must be great to live in with such an absolute mentallity, connecting two or three variables out of possible thousands to assume someone on the internet is a child, as far as August Burns Red goes, they dont suck, they simply play completely different music, Opeth with their alternate notes and fusion of intricate mellow and beautiful with heavy assualt sections is awesome in a different way that ABR is with their off rythms/tempos and duel guitar melodies and speed/thrash metal.

  • @faithtwelve Learn to proof read kiddo. An adult is able to articulate themselves well enough to get their point across, a skill which you do not possess. Also, ABR is a children's band for teenagers finding a way to empathise with someone, the content and musical capabilities of the band reflect the teen's own childish whims.

  • @nansarekool I'm sorry for the poor articulation, but my point still stands, you cannot simply decide based on insignificant factors that someone is a child, not because I care but because the internet's protocol for social interaction itself is childish and ignorant at best. As far as the bands are concerned we can agree to disagree, I love Opeth and I love August Burns Red, they are two amazing bands, with two completely different styles but both great in their musicianship.

  • i want to marry mikael akerfeldt just for his insane writing, his guitars and his godliness...and im a (not gay) dude

  • @guitar7901 I feel you, bro, but he's mine. (not gay neither)

  • @AlexLococo Dammit im so jealouse haha

  • @guitar7901 I know. ;D

  • @AlexLococo how the sex ;)

  • @guitar7901 ROFLMAO, kind of personal... xD

  • @AlexLococo haha just wondering ;)

  • @ProphetOfTheGoat how is that?

  • All right before we get into it can we just Please not start a debate about religion. It's just very aggravating. It gets people nowhere. To the person who uploaded this video, could you please delete those comments before people start hating each other. Trust me I know what I'm talking about.

  • Opeth are the best !!! Beautiful song !

  • 6 people are deaf

  • 6people dont like real music

  • the girl i love broke my heart, and after hearing this song im over that bitch..thanks opeth!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @crazyclown622 for my case, I wish it was so easy

  • @crazyclown622 lol congrats on ridding of your disease, that shits funny dude

  • 3:18 doesn't trust jews lol

  • 6 people can't get rid of the disease

  • I can't help but love mikaels face in that photo at 1:12 haha such a badass

  • HIPPIES

  • i want to know who are the 6 who disliked this amazing song D:

  • @TheMetallerGirl They are people who dislike life

  • @TromboneManAK You're right!

  • @TheMetallerGirl "There's nobody here, there's nobody near

I try not to care, dead eyes always stare"

  • Justin Bieber could never make a song like this!

    :D

  • @linkinn18 don't put justin beiber on this videos, it's tiresome to see "justin beiber" in every opeth video

  • @linkinn18 I beleive that I, and several other opeth fans, would prefer to look at comments that have to do with Opeth rather than a non pubecent fourteen year old.

  • @MrTestMusic Wrong. Us Opeth fans love fourteen year old pop stars.

  • @Intotheorchard Lmao.

  • @linkinn18 ofcourse he could, he is the best technical death metal artist out here,

    show some respect

  • "this failure has made the creator"

"so would you tell him what to do"

amazing line about how these dumbass christians create God to tell them how to live their lives.

  • @iceseekers This song has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity. Take your hate somewhere else weirdo.

  • @Intotheorchard this failure has made the creator

so would you tell him what to do

tell me wtf you think this means then

  • @iceseekers maybe its something to do with a situation where one person fucks something up and it ends up helping the one who made the mistake and then the other person is left with nothing and is lost. just my interpretation i have no idea about the real meaning.

  • @Intotheorchard If this song has nothing to do with Christianity (or just generally religion) then what would you propose it IS talking about?

  • @iceseekers Because it's only Christians right?

Keep your mouth shut you insensitive atheist.

  • @codygringo its also any other moron that creates an ideal image of a God because they are too pathetic to live without thinking some dude is watching over them. im not really an atheist, more of an agnostic that hates religion, and an existentialist

  • 141 is awesome really, and the intro is awesome, pretty much everything is awesome. AWESOME!!

  • this song is about euthanasia. It sucks to be put in that position.

  • from 3:09 what is that in the background? It's like high pitched and just repeats long strokes.. It sounds really nice :)

  • @cassiusitsover its a keyboard on a strings setting, im pretty sure. its either that or a small string ensemble (violin, viola, cello, bass, ect.)

  • @NMGbeast it isn't an ensemble, although it sounds like it.

it nearly fooled me, but it's a keyboard.

i heard that enough in orchestra to discern the true sounds of an ensemble from the synthesized.

although if a full orchestra were playing alongside Opeth, imagine the beautiful sounds they could create.

  • @CitizenCain5 yea. i was thinking that. it was a keyboard when i saw them live, but i dont really know about on CD

  • @NMGbeast It´s a Mellotron, a kind of synthesizer which was frequently used by most Prog Rock bands from the 70´s.

  • This has a surreal sound to it... Makes me want to grow my hair and buy lots of swords. :D

  • @cassiusitsover Hahahahhahaha! great comment.

  • @cassiusitsover That make me crack up.

  • @cassiusitsover lol what the hell are you talking about

  • @cassiusitsover my hair is like..60cm long :D

  • @cassiusitsover that comment made my fucking life :D

  • @becauseican66 Why thank you, thank you very much =D

  • @cassiusitsover I have the swords, but if only my hair wasn't curly.

  • the keyboard at 3:57... favorite part

  • listen this song while you walking at the middle of the night and do some black activity like spiriit of the glass it can help you a lot !

  • if you liked that song, than you need to hear that one:

To rid the disease - best opeth cover by best fans

    (look for it in youtube)

    Promise you won't be disappointed...

  • What's up with the vocals?

  • @jvtherrien What do you mean?

  • @Dimebag08RIP my bad my headphones were shot i cud barely hear anything

  • man this is so deep

glad they did an album like this

  • i have lost all trust i had in you...

  • Pure atmosphere...

  • once again. opeth is art.

  • Eros and Thanatos. In a word, Opeth.

  • @ntipouan re u greek? cause these are greek words.. means love and death.. and fully agreed! thats Opeth..

  • @Psaris4life Yes I am, and proud of it :).

  • this is something so beautiful

  • Mmmmm <3

  • I use Opeth songs to fall asleep, works great!

  • the bass in the middle section reminds me of the "dark" moments in the Galbadia's Garden in FF8. Of course the awesomeness of this music sends my mind to awesome memories.

  • @StealerAG haha it sounds like ff8 to me also.

  • one of the only songs I'm comfortable playing when I have to wake up at 4 A.M.

  • @deoxyribonucleic777 how fucking ironic, it's 4am and i'm listening-playing it too, really comfortable..

  • How does OPETH do it!!!!!???? I think so hard but there musical GENIUS is un PARALLEL in this day an age

  • @HeSiU696 feel*

  • is this album jus mellow n shit??

  • love this whole album soooo much. it's just so damn unique, so friggin awesome. pure genius, that's what it is.

  • this song is magical...i'm in love with this :D

  • what is this song about? i dont get it

  • @cedric140990

In my opinion is about depression, which in the title is called generally "disease"

The lyrics speak of loss of trust in your own self and proposes some ways to

get rid of it. The loss of trust in your self is a common characteristic of depression.

I think that opeth is like a panacea for those kind of things.

  • @StealerAG

yes i agree, but the part when it says "failure is made by creator" i dont understand if

he is talking about God, himself or someone else

  • @cedric140990 As I thought,it says "this failure has made the creator"

I have to admit that I can't actually get the meaning of the lyrics =\ =)

  • @StealerAG

=S ok, i didn't want to, but i'll have to ask my cousin Akerfieldt , btw im learning english thanks for being patient

  • 4:40 - Gets me every time..

  • awesome

  • ürperdim.

  • RIP Nadia and Carolina Frienships :(

  • como me acuerdo de ti Luis Armando...

  • Verdaderamente psicodélica, melódica, única, que llena el alma, la mejor canción del disco, junto a closure y windowpane

  • This is my absolute favorite song off of Damnation...followed by "Closure" at a close second...

  • so beautiful..........

  • i have that wolves shirt. its so cool.

  • nice :D

  • i listen to this music when i write and draw. it really helps cuz its like a thinking kinda music. if that makes sense to anyone here.

  • i draw to it too

  • @ThatRandomGuy325 so do i its inspirational i guess

  • I've found recently its good for writing too.

  • @ThatRandomGuy325 Thats soooo weird, I used to listen to this whenever I drew as well. So cool to know I wasn't the only one!

  • @ThatRandomGuy325 i understand i do the same, i love their music, i listen to them and then go write music or i leave playing and write ..

  • @ThatRandomGuy325 i know what you mean, i listen to them while doing math homework. haha

  • @ThatRandomGuy325 it does bro ;)

  • I do the exact same thing when I draw, do homework, or if I need to sit and think about stuff. It's great music, very calm and relaxing.

  • @ThatRandomGuy325 makes perfect sense to me:)

  • @ThatRandomGuy325

    You mean it's inspirational...agreed!

  • @ThatRandomGuy325 I listen to this album when I write too. Lyrics mainly.

  • @ThatRandomGuy325 I listen to this, for the same reason, its a thinking music. Listening while doing college work is awesome!

  • @ElisaAngel123 Could you please list me any more "thinking music" bands? I love this stuff, but Opeth and a bit of ISIS and Tool are all I could find!

  • @NightXemnas Nine inch nails, Katitonia, Agaloch, As daylight dies, Death, and a few others i cant think of right now but let me know what you think.

  • @NightXemnas Dude listen to this band called Karnivool, they're ridiculous. Try the song "All I Know". And the band Cynic is awesome and they've toured with Opeth. Try "The King of Those Who Know". Other very good "thinking bands" I could think of haha. Peace

  • @xpidgeonx Dude, you rock, I checked them out, they were awesome! Especially Cynic. (I checked your page and found that you're vegetarian like me, that's awesome)

  • @NightXemnas Haha awesome man, glad you dig them! You also might try the band Porcupine Tree; they're very good friends with opeth and quite similar! And maybe Textures (try "Awake")? Always happy to spread music lol! Oh and if you liked Cynic, your should try Exivious, the instrumental side project of their guitarist and bassist (try "Embrace the Unknown")! And great stuff glad to meet another vegetarian haha! Cheers

  • @NightXemnas epica, nightwish, rammstein, porcupine tree,

  • Good song, and the bass line is so catchy.

  • this video is EVERYTHING!!

  • this song is AMAZING

and mikael akerfeldts voice is orgasmic

  • this is my favourite song of all time

  • Beautifully said. and agreed!

  • i just fucken came to that! i <3 opeth. i garentee you'll never find a mroe creative band in your life. they are truly amazing. anyone agree??

  • i agree

  • everyone agrees

  • 100%. Im a 70's/80's rock/metal kinda guy but Opeth are truly amazing and creative with their music. Without a doubt, the best band of the 90s/00's.
