I played the GBC version months ago. Though, I suck at this game. However, Friday the 13th for the NES wasn't a bad game at all.

Hey ROB, I bought this game just now from my local 2nd-hand electrical shop, it came complete in its box with its manual for £6.00. I actually bought this game because it was the only decent looking game they had but after watching your review it seems that it wasn't a bad buy, personally I think I got a really good bargain.

Yes how much I looked for the composer

of these songs I never found his name.

But there is a strong belief in that it was the same who worked with Dejavu and Uninvited.

I don't remember if the game had any credits at all.

Yep, that's the type of scary games we had back in the days hehe :D

The "Shadowgate" and "Uninvited" games were kind of scary in their own right.

What gets me are how the graphics just have this scary quality that's hard to explain. Not detailed or incredible, mind you, but it was effective.

The sound also got you, particularly that Kemco/Seika music and all of its grating banality. Yet, it seemed that quality evoked a sense of unease in itself.

And then there are the lucid text descriptions, particularly of your demise if you did something wrong.

Also Shadowgate was one of the few games that were released with several translations. I have the German one for example. I heard the game was also translated to Swedish and French.

Out of couriosity I once bought this game as I felt it looked pretty cool. When I first played it I got pretty frustrated because of it's trial & error principle and akward controlling scheme. After a few years later (just recently) I kinda got hooked at it. I really admire the atmospheric feel the game creates. Also I find this game pretty brutal. While it isn't very graphic, most of the characters deaths were described pretty detailed and gory.
