Everyone forgets that when you are a tax free organization it is by law that you must not use monies to influence government in ANY way. There is PROOF that they broke the law by cooking the books on the amount they gave to support this bill. CHURCHES should NOT mix with government for ANYTHING!!!
bigmic82 - Uhh... I can argue that when half the country believed it should be legal to own, keep and sell slaves was wrong. Our system was created where the government reps vote, and judges determine whether the vote fits within laws. People don't know $h!t about what they even really believe - There is no civil rights bill that would ever pass under popular vote - it's the governments role to lead the people, not fold to their idiot uneducated ideas of what being a minority means.
Why all the backlash for people having an opinion and a church donating money to a cause? Don't we live in America where we have the right to believe what we want? Money from the LDS church or not the people still voted and the law was repealed. You can argue all you want about what should go on but it still was up to a vote. How can you argue with the outcome of a vote from the people? Mormon leaders have opinions too. Just because they don't agree with gays doesn't mean they hate. Get a life.
@bigmic82 We all do have the right to choose, but unfortunately many do not choose of their own free will and history has shown that religions have a very strong influence ove their members (Jim Jones, David Koresh, etc.). When a church starts telling people how to vote or how to donate money they are not allowing members to act on their own free agency. We can't trust our members to do the right thing so must dictate their actions.
This is funny. And yes, the Mormon church leaders urged members and even started underground groups. They raised 75 percent of all money for Prop H8 and there doing it in Maine and WAshington right now. Face the facts. Your mormon leaders hate.
Don't forget the Catholic Amway for elitist bigshots... The maggots(knights)of columbus.
They play dirty... under the radar!
It's ok to be a cohab in the K of C but not to be a democrat. and it's ok to rape altar boys and girls.. as long as they are hispanic or poor white trash..
get real and respect the upright mormons and catholic amway!
@dirtbagcatholics We will get around to poking fun of Catholicism as well, we just want originality to be evident and so many people have beaten the humor of the Catholics to death...just keep watching ;)!
My favorite part is the quote "Oh that baby would be black, it would be a dark ugly thing." Utah has some local idiot legislator that actually used that line while he was debating some bill a couple of years ago. Mormons still support the ignorant clown.
Wrong. You Bishop had no authority to contradict the GAs.
The mormon church did give money and in kind donations of over $100,000 and then tried to lie about it. There is a rumor that they also filtered millions through an front organization call National Organization for Marriage.

You sick FUCK! I hate gays and this is BULL SHIT!!! You're lucky I don't know where you live!!! Remember that scene in Boogie Nights where they lured Marky Mark to their truck and kicked his ass??? YOU ARE LUCKY!!!!
The churxch admits they donated over $250,000...so far.
I grew up in Utah in a Mormon family. Most Mormons I know DID and DO disparage other religions. How could they not? Isn't the Mormon religion the "one true" religion?....that means none of the others are.
This is just plain stupid. How far will the gay activists go in their disparaging of those who believe in marriage. Also, the Mormon church did not donate a lot of money to Prop 8. Finally, the way they try to show Mormons tearing down other Churches is just wrong, they don't do that.

Because the IRS limits the degree to which 501c3 organizations may contribute dollars to political causes. That's why.

This is very insulting....
There are always going to be these issues about gays, abortion, etc.
Just to let everyone else know...our Bishop said we shouldn't get involved in raising money for Prop 8 (like a lot of members did)
It was the members not the church itself raising the money.
We do love thy neighbor, and I have gay friends but I love them as people, despite their sexual preference.
