was about to buy a trackball on ebay as mine would not scroll left, and has been very noisy for about 6months, found this vid on here to see if it was easy enough to fit myself, popped mine out, cleaned the crap off the small rollers and now it all works fine.

i really don't comment on videos much, but thank you SO much for this. you just saved me from using this terrible replcement flip phone i've been using. a while ago, i dropped my blackberry into some water, and since then it has been unusable. recently while cleaning, i found another blackberry, but without a trackball. this video taught me how to take the trackball from the water damaged one and put it into the track ball-less one. YOU ARE AMAZING, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

man that was a wicked user guide thanks my retainer was broken beyond repair i just dropped the spoon part in then the other plastic part with wheels over top and then put the ring back on. It actually works better then when i first got it lol

Worked for me, MY TRACK BALL WAS STUCK AND WOULDN'T GO DOWN, JUSt UP LEFT aND RIGhT!!! My 8300 trackball fell out, and I freaked. Your video said the bezel only had 3 clips instead of 4 (thought I'd broken one off) and showed me what way to put it back together. I cleaned it before putting it back together. A simple repair, and now I can continue to use my 8300 for a while longer. Thank you for the help. Yes!! Thank you!! I now have a fully operational blackberry again! =D My trackball wouldn't roll to the right, and the ring wouldn't stay in, so I was using masking tape to hold it together... So I bought a pretty purple replacement trackball =)

You have to notice that the ring and the ball has to be put back in the exact way, the ball has like a light bulb back so the round thing goes down and the ring (like the man said) with the three clips on the sides and down.

I have heard from one source if you remove the trackball for it's first time it snaps a connection linked to the Blackberry device, and that going forward the Blackberry's trackball will not function as good as it once did. Is this true or false?

i read this somewhere, and have replaced trackballs by not cleaning anything.and they have worked well. the replacements were on a curve.

also, I was able to remove the ring with my index finger, but Im sure your tools are much better!!

the track ball is probably in wrong take it out with tweezers, and it has a little metal piece that holds the sides together, one of the sides might stick up ( the same thing happened to me) make sure when you put it back they are all sticking down, and then put it back in and do what the guy says in the video
