I think you're an incredible person. Thank you for uploading these videos. I can't begin to imagine what it must have felt like being there with those precious elephants.
At least they didn't cough all the way through your performance (unlike British audiences !). Perhaps next time you could play Jimbo's Lullaby from Debussy's Children's Corner. I'm sure they would like that.
'The Elephant' is certainly liked by the Elephants! Are you going to play 'The aquarium' by Saint-Saëns under the eas with sea creatures? And I am sure that you are an animal/natural lover! And you are just an amazing pianist! I totally respect you and love this video!!
Paul, I have LONG since dreamed to play outside in nature. Music is SO natural, it should be played in nature. I never dreamed someone would actually be able to do it though, and well........You did!! I live my dream vicariously through your you tube channel ! Thanks! I'm sure the elephants appreciated it as well. I notice none of these elephants have tusks? Why is that? Have they been harmed and are now safe, or is this customary in Thailand to sell tusks?

Brilliant! Paul your crazy. Did you notice the Elephants respond at all to the music? I do love the idea of playing outside. At Glastonbury festival for several years (I have no idea if it's still there) there was a random piano in the middle of the field. It would be the high point of the festival for me to go and play and it was amazing what a range of musicians would turn up and jam with me.
@SharmaYelverton -- *think* a reaction from an old, almost blind elephant Saiyok (reply⬆) Perhaps music can soothe sight-impaired elephants or those that suffered stress/trauma. Carried my piano across a river to an island of ducks and played baroque keyboard music to them but they took no notice whatsoever. Have you heard Beatrice Harrison playing cello with a nightingale? (first BBC outdoor radio broadcast) A lone piano in a Glastonbury field sounds potentially like a festival in itself.
thank you, i (we) really enjoyed watching and listening to this! i never heard this one before. probably they had not either? you played for the outer elephants and also our inner elephants 2:40 LOL you a good teacher but y'aint THAT good. um pouco louco yes, it's fun :D
When I was 8 years old, my girlfriend and I danced solo, with our ballet-group behind, dressed like elephants in the zoo, between the real elephants...it was this piano-piece we were dancing on...
Now, come, you are both crazy to a point I wouldn't have believed until I saw this.
Mad dogs and Englishmen… This goes way, way . . ORDERS of magnitude beyond anything an Englishman stricken by a tropical sun has ever done in all recorded history. And no topee even . . my God!
Khwan, you must lock up your genius husband until he shows signs of recovery. He looks very dangerous in this state!!
Have made mental note to ease up on talking to the owls . .
Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us and the elephants! Diane from Baltimore

@MarkBPiano -- :) I'll play Jimbo's Lullaby during the night next time I'm up there. I just tried it on recorder, it sounds quite oriental ...

What a novel idea! It was also a great idea! The elephant trumpeting at the end sounded like approval to me!
