Damn. This song was running through my head all week. I just now decided to google it. That's when I read the news. Rest in peace, Gary. Rock on in Heaven, man.
How about all of you shut the fuck up and listen to the god damn song, isn't that the reason you're here in the first place?!?! Damn, you're all acting like a bunch of 14 yr. old school girls.
This was the 80's and lots of the music/music music videos wore cheesy like this, but it worked for the time! you have to picture yourself back in the early 80's when Pac-man was the most played video game during that time, everyone with their brothers/sisters and all their friends wore at their local Arcade playing it!
@CoolerKing37 I didn't say one thing in that statement to bash any music.. what I was pointing out is this song was made in the early 80's when alot of the music and music videos wore like this and the game "Pac-Man" was Popular during this time era, Yes music has sucked in the last 10 years,.. especially now that the record companies have taken over!!!
I liked the song, but you know a fad is on its way out when this kind of thing starts happening. Wasn't Where's the Beef put to a pop music formula, as well?
totally forgot all about this song. Thank you for uploading. OMG I so remember the arcades and bustin open that fresh roll of quarters and playing Pac Man until I had blisers on my fingers from the joy stick. LOL
@PaulSchissel 99% of today's music is pure crap, I'll take the 60's, 70,s and 80's over pretty much everything out there today especially Rap and hip hop!!
My local Safeway store thought it was a good idea to put arcade games in it's store to occupy young kids time.Several blisters later and hours of playing Pac-Man they pulled the plug after too many parents complained. And here all they had to do was show me how to get passed the 9th key:)
Thumbs up if anybody remembers when AOR stations played this one during its heyday.
I often wonder if this would've been as big of a hit if a huge rock act like ZZ Top recorded "PMF"? This would've been a perfect fit for Billy, Dusty & Frank.
the first large scale revolution in video game culture history. it made enough hype to have people make a record. and this was the 80s. frankly amazing.
Pac-Man is also possibly the highest-grossing entertainment product of all time. By the 90s, Pac-Man had grossed $3.8 billion ($1 billion from cabinet sales, $2.5 billion from quarters dropped in machines, and $270 million from Atari 2600 software sales), which today would be equivalent to over $7 billion with inflation! The only other entertainment product to rival its revenue is Space Invaders, which grossed $3 billion by 1982 (or $7 billion with inflation).
Of course, most of these revenues were grossed during the golden age of arcades (late 70s to 80s), a time when video games were probably more mainstream than they are today. During the golden age, the video game industry was generating revenues in the tens of billions (or with inflation, several times that amount), mostly from quarters dropped into arcades rather than home software sales (unlike today).
By the way, this song Pac-Man Fever reached #9 on the Billboard Hot 100, sold over a million singles, and went Gold (equivalent to today's Platinum). The Pac-Man Fever album later did the same, again selling over a million records and going Gold. Along with all other kinds of products based on Pac-Man, "Pac-Mania" or "Pac-Man Fever" was a huge phenomenon in North America during the early 80s.
@donnydcyclops The song doesnt revolve around the game....
I never had PacMan arcades where i lived when i was a kid and i will probobly never be a PacMan fan but the song is really catchy you have to admit :D
@iani103 Actually she said that your technique and effort was good but your joystick is extremely small and tiny for the game. I think you should be looking up this song on youtube by -20 fingers featuring Gillette- It's called 'short man.' I heard it was made just for you.
@ransman413 I thought you were referring to a game called pac and pal from 1982. I rock at it. if you dont know what i am talking about, on Go ogle look up "play pacandpal"

When I think of great composers Buckner and Garcia come to mind first. Oh I know some will say Lennon and Mccartney but for me it's always been Buckner and Garcia ever since I saw them at a sold out show at Madison square garden in '82. I still listen to this song on my I POD like Stairway to Heaven Freebird and Hey Jude this is song is still a main staple of classic rock radio. I still have Pac man fever and I don't want to be cured.
Everyone laughs at this song, but it reached No. 9 on the Billboard hot 100, which is no small feat. I bought the 45 when I was in 5th grade! lol ... our church had this record in the jukebox in the basement rec room, and one night, after we kids had finished choir practice and were raising hell in the rec room, I remember our pastor came in the room dancing while it was playing lol .... a great memory.
