  • I am having some difficulties with that brigde part, it's rather annoying! :S Any help, please?

  • Thanks Warren. Got the first part figured out! I'll keep working the rest. Have to say, you do an excellent job explaining it! Thanks man!

  • hey brother, great stuff, i like how you keep it quick and simple, keep making these radiohead tutorials, youve been a great help. thanks.

  • Thankyou!!

  • your A is a bit out of tune ^^

  • Yo! had a hard time learning this song cuz you were goin too fast. but anyway thnx for the tut.

  • Wooo

    \o/

  • "and you never have to care about fingerpicking again!", LOL

  • very helpful thanks

  • epicest short tutorial :P

  • when i saw he made this tutorial i was like :D

  • I have difficulty learning songs due to me expecting myself to overperform. I am usually frustrated if I cant get a song down after a few hours of practice. I think it may be reassuring to know how long it takes other people to master this song and play it proficiently at full pace. So how long does it take?

  • is there just simple cover of this guy? where hes just playing whole song together?

  • whats going on 7:00?? can i please get more description on the finger positions!! :O

  • @TheMastereggroll same problem here. I'm so confused

  • Glad I found you man! Thanks for the great lesson!

  • Thanks so much man!! You saved me a ton of time learning this for a cover band gig.

  • Well I missed the part that started at 6:50 lol Any help I can't understand what the hell warren is playing. I know wich strings to hold where but how do i have to move my fingers and wich strings do i have to play? thanks in advance!

  • wow i don't know if I should get into this it seems really hard.

  • @jjysoserious just try and if you can't make it just give you alot of time! i tried this half a year ago and only could do the picking part now i can do everything (learned it in like 2 days)

  • this is really great but slow down a little its a tad confusing for us less experienced guitar players

  • I love your tutorials Warren. I've never followed your instruction and not learned the song well. My neighbors request Radiohead more than anything when I'm front porching, because they're my best songs. Much of this is owed to you. A little more polish and structure and you're up there with Justin Sandercoe. Top notch, sir. Top notch.

  • You're really amazing, thank you for all your tutorials. I love your way to explain.

  • brilliant

  • just by closing your eyes and listening this transports you to another world

  • Man I'm gonna go get some guitar lessons then I'm coming back to learn these songs from you! I subbed!

  • hey man, this is brilliant. Only place i'm stuck at is the bridge. Is there any way you can provide tabs for that part? it would be a HUGE help. thanks dude and keep up the good work.

  • i need to hug you for this

  • Thanks a lot Warren, you've teached me it :)

  • yeeeeah! you really can play man! I learned Bodysnatchers with you. Now Im going for this one!

  • yeeeeah! you really can play man! I learned Bodysnatchers with you. Now Im going for this one!

  • If you posted tabs in the description to help follow along or something it would be great

  • Pinchi marrano

  • You make it look SO... DAMN... EASY!!

  • I play drums

I didn't understand a word of that "tune to this, tune down to that" shit, but boy, you can play, Warren.

    Keep up the good work.!

  • @stroketheboat Even drummers need to tune! Thanks man.

  • @warrenmusic word the fuck up man

  • @warrenmusic

just a suggestion.... try tunning down the 1st string (E) 1 step (to a D). It sounds good sometimes and you don't have to mute it(again... sometimes). Anyway, thanks so much for this video because i was trying to learn this song quite a while and i couldn't. You're an awesome guitarist by the way

  • Hi Warren, thanks a million for this tutorial, I would just like to know, maybe someone else can help me out, am I playing it right? A made a very short cover on my channel, and was wondering what I could improve on.

    Thanks in advance,

    Daniel.

  • Very good job man!

  • DO BLACK SWAN!!! please! :)

  • My fav song ever, good job.. pity im to noob at guitar to play!!

  • Hey y'all (then commenced to rocking our effing minds out.)

  • great tutorial, on the minute 5:00 though i'm lost because of one reason, I dont know which part for which lyrics on the song..

  • Awesome tutorial man

  • realmente muchisimas gracias por subir este tutorial suena muy bien. pas y amor para ti tambien abrazo

  • Edit: I've been alerted Thom plays it differently. Oh well, I still like mine.

Edit 2: Saw Thom play this at SF Outside Lands, and again (like Reckoner), I saw him play it this way. I feel so vindicated.

  • G-Tuning is such a cool thing...

  • Great tutorial as always Warren, but if you allow my comment you could have gone a bit slower on some parts. Anyway, I know it was of your first tutorials, and it's definitly the best available on the web, so congratilations and thank you for bothering for all us lame guitar players and making it easier or us! :)

  • that is so cool

  • thanks for gracing us with your abilities!

i realize you probably have no interest in going through the tedious task of tabbing these, but do you know if anyone has tabbed this? I might then be able to figure out out what the fuck is going on.

  • Wow that was a great tutorial i usually find it hard to learn songs through videos. And no one ever tabs out Radiohead songs with their inherent fluidity intact. Perfect job man.

  • Thx a lot Warren you have a crazy ear! I ve watched a couple of live performances of the song and it seems that Thom actually plays the bass riff 5x5xxx to 12x12xxx to 9x9xxx when he starts humming . And he does it everytime for this section. Also he plays the first part of the verse down the neck. So it's 9x9xxx 9x7xxx 9x07xx 9x08xx instead of x2000x x203xx x2002x x2003x (4:28 to 5:20 in your video)

  • Fuck! When I watch the first 50", i was just... O_o. And then I laugh. Because it's better than crying when I noticed that I'll never be able to play like you. Congrats from a frenchy, keep doing a good joob, you're a good thing for those who like music man ;)

  • Can you please put some tabs :3

  • Пиндосы,Вы уебаны!

    Слушайте Радиохедс и не выебывайтесь!!!!!

  • What I like about your lessons is it's more vague with most things. You don't breakdown EVERYSINGLE note. Which makes it easy for one to make their own way of playing the song

  • thank you for this tutorial, very very helpful!

  • F# 3rd String?

  • Tremendous dude! Right on the money!!!! Subscribing now

  • thanks a lot, i've managed to play almost all of it quite well! :) i'm just having some trouble getting your rythm on the right hand... :\

  • no idea how to tune G string to F sharp...

  • @Bazgann down half step. when in standard tuning, make the 5th fret of the G string sound like the open B string, making changes to the G string

  • First, I'd like to say that you are awesome and thanks to your awesomeness, I've learned to play some of my favorite Radiohead songs. Second and lastly, when i started the video I thought the left side of your mouth had been invaded by a humongous fucking HERPE. Glad that wasn't the case. Stay protected my friend!

  • when he looks up at 0:19 even he is thinking.. yhe this sounds fucking amazing!! :)

  • Hey Yall, Nice Tutorial.

  • thank you you, are great. will try, but it looks hard. Thanks again:)

  • parceee... severo video man, esta reteso.... ya mismo me la voy a aprender, gracias..

  • sht man, you play exactly like jonny greenwood O_O

  • I'm having a really hard time getting the part starting on 6:52. Can somebody briefly clarify me about it?

Or, you know, has it been tabbed?

  • thanks! better than any tab i could find

  • greatness

  • Jesus, man. That was sick. Thank you very much.

  • TOO FAST AHH

  • Any chance anybody could tab from 3.00 - 3.25?? would be awesome!!

  • warren i think this tutorial is awesome but is it possible for you to type just the base note(e.g. 5,4,2,0,2,7,..) for the 3rd part where it starts5x5000 and goes up and down.

I got really confused seeing the video at that part but the other parts were all clear.

Im still a beginner but i love radiohead so pls help me out =)

  • Can you please make a cover of this song??!!!!

  • Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat!!!!!!

  • Just wow.

  • holyy shit, dude ive seen a lottt of ppl try to cover this song but your version kicks ass, it flows a lot smoother than most others. nicely done =]

  • my goodness! well done, sir. you are amazing! you should sell your talent. I would have paid for this. you have very efficiently explained some of my favorite harmonies in a way I can understand. thank you very much.

  • cant get it from 6.50...

  • nice dude, nice

  • hey guys.

    My band made a song.

Well we need a name I so guess we aren't a band.

Listen to it. Its real good. Definitely.

    Today's digits is the name.

    Suggest a name!

  • Amazing. Thank you. im just a beginner so it would be helpful if you could say what chords related to what your playing. I couldnt help but start singing as i hear you play, so freaken well done.

  • @radioivan, what do u mean u dont like his personality thats bullshit..and warren thanks for this tutorial its very helpful

  • THANK YOU SIR. I can always count on your tutorials being 100% accurate, Ultimate-Guitar aint got shit on you man.

  • you are awesome!!!!!

  • U play it very well...but U should to explain better...

  • Hey warren!, well, I was wondering, what is the variaton that you do at minute 7:36, when you say , "real tricky" hahaha, thanks for the video, you are great!

  • dude you are a very good player, but i just don´t like your personallity, sorry... nice song

  • Thanks warren helped a lot!

Hint i noticed for the verse you can keep the same chord shape and use hammer ons, on the F# string from 7th fret and 8th fret, and the d string from fret 9 to 7. Noticed on live videos that thom keeps that chord shape when playing the verse

  • Greetings!

On my channle there is original music, artwork, and animation - just trying to spread the word.

    PEACE,

    Micah Buzan

  • dude your the ultimate Radiohead fan guitar guru ever so many good tutorials

  • dude u r an amazing guide!

  • Gracias!!! Thank you!! This tutorial has been very useful!!!! You explain well and with patience, congratulations! Greetings from Argentina :)

  • Much respect for an awesome breakdown of this. Owe you big time. Just one thing: the 2nd chord you are playing should have a different picking pattern than the first one if you listen carefully to the original. Sorry for being lame enough to point that out, but do you agree?

  • great tutorial!

  • its D B D F# B E i got the official book of in rainbows songs. those are acurate in lyrics and music, rite?

  • @SuperiFox I don't trust tab books... even when they are licensed by the band. They are not written by the band and often contain simplified transcriptions. I believe the tuning is D A D F# B E because you can see Thom using the 2nd fret 5th string when he plays the verse to produce the B, not the open string. The only negotiable could be the 1E, which some tune to D. The 1st string is not prominent in this song at all.

  • @warrenmusic okay thanks i was wondering about that. That does make sense cause some songs make unnecessary moves (bodysnatchers) if im thinking righte....once again thanks!

  • @warrenmusic CHECK MATE to SuperiFox

  • @jjozeto LOL no need to rub it in. It's completely understandable for people trust the official tab book!

  • @warrenmusic Warren please add the next section of this amzing song, thanks to you i va learn this tutorial. I really will appreciated. Cheers mate!!!!

  • @frenyk2 This is the entire song

  • @warrenmusic I think Thom tunes it to A, but I prefer to play it tuned to B because I intensely dislike playing 'Drop D' type power chords like Thom does in the last phrase of the verse. I can play the same notes without altering the sound of the song.

    But to each his own.

  • @PRSOne Why intense dislike for a one finger power chord? And how do you play those same notes with an uptuned B? 535xxx? Seems unnecessarily difficult that way.

  • @warrenmusic It's not difficult at all. One finger power chords feel like cheating, I just don't like them. And you'll rarely see a good guitarist use them.

  • @PRSOne That statement is pretty unfounded, but to each his own.

  • Comment removed

  • @PRSOne Guitarists can suck because they rely on the one-finger drop D power chord. I get it. Too easy. I'm just not so sure you can say that it's rare to see a good guitarist using them. That's un-provable. Jazz guitarists do use one-finger chords. For example, a major chord with an added sixth in second inversion xx3333. The sound makes a chord cool, not the fingering. And I still don't see the point in avoiding a one-finger chord to just do the same exact chord.

  • @warrenmusic I was referring more to the detuning of the E string to achieve a one finger power chord. In your example, the guitarist isn't detuning a string because he's too lazy to properly play a power chord. I have no issue with the guitarist in your example.

Naturally there are chords that require only one finger to play, but that's different, it's the shortcut I dislike, not the fact that they only use one finger to fret a chord.

  • @PRSOne That's what I'm saying. It's not the one-finger chord, it's the shortcut mentality. Laziness. And I'm challenging your notion of "proper" ways to play a chord, because if Jimi played properly, we would never have this Gadd9 - 3x5435. I'm just wary of words like "never" and "most" and "proper" when we're dealing with an instrument that is relatively new to the world of music (guitar has only been around a few hundred years).

  • can you please write me the tune here? i im from chile... is hard for me to get it just listening to it..;)

    PD: nice tutorial btw.

  • why dont you sell that fat ass plasma in the background for money?

  • @ryank1esko It's not mine, recorded this at my parents' place. I'm not that desperate. The fundraiser was just a great way for me to give something back to people who were already going to donate anyway. Regardless, it's over now and I have the new guitar.

  • @ryank1esko hahaha LOL

  • @lord2313 Shut the fuck up and enjoy the music.

  • I can't figure out how the new chords (for the "chorus" are. minute 8:39 and on. Could someone help me please?

  • Excellent tutorial my friend. I always wondered what the tuning was. Nice job.

  • Nice vid, thanks. I've been pulling my hair out over this song for a while. I thought it was just Drop-D (I play Bodysnatchers in Drop-D) but I could never get my hand to stretch on the higher strings. Dropping the G to F# makes sense.

  • i have to play this live. how. i cant do acoustic, and i have other songs that dont have crazyass tuning, is there a way to play without tuning like that

  • @futurfry Well, it depends on how accurate you want to be... if you want to just play a basic version with chords and stuff then just go by the chord names I use... for example, just play B minor. It won't sound exactly the same, but you can be the judge of whether or not it works. You can always tune it for this song and tune it back... not that big a deal, especially if you have a tuner.

  • @warrenmusic ah i just played it. but i have the bends right after it, and no time to switch guitars, its a fluent set. but nvm, ill figure it out. great vid by the way!

  • Nice! I was playing another way. Yours is much better. Gonna check out some more In Rainbows...Faust Arp was also great.

  • cover weird fishes apreggi!!!

please its a great song and id like to

really see how its played so i may learn it

  • You're an excellent teacher, man. Many thanks.

  • i love you more

  • i cant do the strum pattern still

  • @gruntkid10 It's just DUDUDUDU, constant strums. Unless you're talking about the beginning? Best advice is just take it slow, one note at a time if you have to. Speed comes naturally when you get it down.

  • @warrenmusic oh i see thanks.

  • warren is a freakin legend!!! my boy told me about this guy and his radiohead covers, ive been learning from him since...thanks dude

  • I f'cking love radiohead

  • i love you

  • @gumbywallters I love you.

  • thanks

  • What frets are the is the new chord near the end?

  • nice one !!!!

  • dude i love you (no homo)

  • pretty good warren. I hope you're getting paid. Lets go smoke next time in san jose buddy. just kidding. you don't smoke.

  • Thanks a lot warren, love this song!

  • I want to play drums to this so badly..my friend plays it identically to the sound too.

  • I've been playing Radiohead off sheet music for over 10 years, and haven't really had anyone to help me with some of the techniques. You are a Godsend my brother!! Thank you!

  • i agree , i started playing this one and just had too look on tube for a tute , this guy is very helpful and as i realised after he'd helped me with gagging order immensely! great work warren . i hope u get what u deserve :)

  • Hey warren! First off a big thanks for all your tutorials. They're a huge huge huge huge help for me and my band at times. It looks like I've got most of the song down, but I was going to ask if you could explain a bit more the movement after the big descending chords around 5:35. I keep trying but I can't figure out quite which strings I'm supposed to be fretting where.

  • thanks man. i must have tried to learn this a dozen times on UG. this made it so much easier. peace, from australia

  • Thanks for a lesson, difficult song, but i'll work =)

  • hey all, radiohead got me into playing music so i just started playing guitar, in the hope i could learn over the internet. im wondering about the "funky" tuning. on the E string, how do i tune it D? you say something a about half steps wich im to newb to understand, do i need to like pull the string really tight to it hit the D note? im just afraid it might burst. ;) sorry for the stupid question. :)

  • Not a stupid question. In the video, I tell you to tune it down. Do NOT tune it up. You can tune strings to different pitches... and they are measured in increments we call half-streps. Do some research and learn about them. Some people call them semi-tones.

  • thanks warren, i understand the thing about halfstep now, i seriously need to research more about music. i still have a hard time hearing tones, it will hopefully come to me one day, but thanks :)

  • Hearing the difference between tones does not come overnight, but I consider it my most important asset as a musician... I'd gladly choose pitch discernment over my fingers, even.

  • thx a lot for this, you have really helped me, but im still having problems figuring iout the fingerpicking in the begining.

Does any1 have a tab for just that part? or has the time to give it to me?

I've looked and cant seem to find it :(

  • Check out 2:02 and use your eyes/ears. Tabs will just spoil it!

  • you are right, although it took me some time to figure it out it was really worth it in the end to just keep at it. I can now play the part and it sounds great, Thx!

  • You don't know how happy this makes me. See what happens when you challenge yourself?

  • Ha, this is great great stuff

  • ur a genius !

  • Thanks man. Legend

  • thanks warren! I'll try to keep track of your band from atlanta. Jigsaw has a magical effect on my infant daughter. Its her favorite song - apparently she was born with excellent taste. I don't think I would have figured this out right in a million years without you. Muchos gracious and amazing job. rockon...

  • WARREN!!!! ....nuff said.

  • I hate you!!!

    hahaha nahh i envy you

    you play the guitar amazing

  • your awesome man. im glad you put up a lesson for one of my favorite radiohead tunes :D

  • hey yall~ (the faces) - make me lough hahaha

    btw , u rock man !

  • Warren, you truly the man, love your tutorials, but just can't get the strumming down on this which is frustrating cuz without it i trip up all the way along - any chance of a quick explanation slowed down, or if anyone else can help me out - i'm pulling my hair out!! LOve your tutorials though dude!!!

  • wot u havin trouble with

  • I watched this vid a couple months ago and was crosseyed about 2 minutes into it. I've practiced a lot since then and now with alittl emore skill this tutorial is helping me pick this song up in a day or two. My roomate was like "oh my god your playing jigsaw!!" Warren,, you rule!!! Thank you very much for taking the time to show off your skills!!
