  • I'm going to made one!

  • very cool, went to your website, you do awesome work! what is the name of the song you played here? or did you just doodle a bit? Anyway, very nice to see the real spirit behind homegrown music being kept alive, Thanks for all your hard work!

  • @irishgrl Nah, it's just me noodling about aimlessly as usual!

  • how do you build th fret?

  • @danialthenaive It hasn't got any frets. The fret position markers are made by filling the fret slots with a piece of rosewood veneer then trimming it off. The dots are done by filling the holes with an epoxy/rosewood dust mixture.

  • @homegrownguitars Hey there, do you have the measurements for the frets positions? Also, what dimensions do you use for the wooden bridge?

  • @w0sh1m3 Can't remember the scale length of this one probably 630mm. Use an online fret calculator to work them out. For the bridge whatever height gives the required string height and wide enough for all the strings + a bit extra on either side to screw it to the top if required.

  • Hi. Personal preference really. On this one I used medium gauge A, D and G strings from a set of Martin Acoustics.

  • Very impressive! As a project I was thinking of constructing one of these, I was wondering what kind of strings to get?

  • Some sweet sounds there from a cookie tin!

  • what tuning do you use???

  • Can't remember on this one, probably GDG but may have been GDB.

  • Really neat guitar! Great noise! Nice playing too.

  • @Django5198 Many thanks. Not sure about the playing though!

  • This is the most beautifully made tin guitar i've seen yet. Good job

  • Colin mademe one and it is absolutely terrific. He kept me posted during the construction process so that I have a complete record of the build

By the time it arrived at the front door I was nearly wetting myself with excitement

The build is sensational and it is an absolute joy to play

    A REAL Gent

  • Very cool. That thing sounds better than some commercial dobros I've heard!

  • So freaking cool.

  • Hello. I've just became a fan of your work!

Great looking instrument, and I like the idea of using and recycling every-day materials like biscuit tins. You have put life into that biscuit tin! I hope its ok if I can ask a couple of questions. Firstly, how many frets does this instrument have? Also, is the neck rounded at the back? Thank you. Best Regards. Chris

  • Hi, thanks! It doesnt have any frets, only fret position markers (21), and the back is shaped to a fairly squarish D-profile on this one.

  • the C-TAR FOR THE WIN I MIKE THE TONE VERY DELTA

  • did you cut and sound holes in the guitar?

  • Not on this one, although i have on the others ive made

  • Really nice Colin, I want one !

    Geoff Somerset

  • Is it me, or did you just use the same cookie tin that i did O.o

  • Looks pretty similar to me. Keep up the good work young feller!

  • Really nice sound, unlike many of the cookie-tine guitars on youtube. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks. With a glass slide it whines better than my mother in law!
