@ThirdNUnion The Watchtower has put their followers back under "law," having made it a disfellowshipping offense, which means that you are now "worthy of destruction," to allow a blood transfusion. God made the blood law to focus RESPECT for LIFE, which comes from HIM, and the Jews obeyed that law, but as Christ is the end of the law, no one is under any of it, but under Christ. At Acts, Paul settled an ongoing argument between new Christians made of Jews & Gentiles.

Even the Jewish Religion of today understand that a blood transfusion to preserve life is NOT going against God's Law in any way, but it is showing a RESPECT for life...life which comes from God. And it was about this respect for life that Jehovah God made the law in the first place. EATING or DRINKING blood is NOT the same as a blood transfusion to preserve life; but honors it.

Now, in this day & age, we can have a heart transplant. Anyone can see that having a heart transplant to preserve life is NOT the same thing as eating one for food. @ThirdNUnion In reading chapter 15 of Acts, we see much arguing going on between Christian Jews who "knew the law," & Gentile Christians who thought the following their "law" was ridiculous. After much speaking to these new Christians, & considering their hot stand in their differences, the decree at Acts 15: 29 was made, which served to calm everyone down, as one can see in reading the full account. Again, abstaining from blood had to do with eating it as FOOD, which disrespected the life.

I use the NWT, because it is through the use of the Watchtower's own version that I hope to share the truth of what God's own Holy Word actually teaches; what it actually says. God has many "names," but I call Him, "Father," or "Heavenly Father." Jesus never called Him "Jehovah," but "My Father," "Your Father," "Our Father," etc.

I recall a young JW mother, happy with her first baby, a girl, who later had an accident & needed a transfusion to save her life. She bled to death in obedience to WTBS law; she was only two. The devastated mother cried & cried & she wondered if she'd done the right thing. The WT finally disfellowshipped her & she committed suicide in her grief. The WTBS allowed no service for her.

How could anyone wish that on a child? My son had to under go a blood transfusion when he was 3 months old. It wasn't his choice it was the dr.s, his father's and mine. God gave us the know how to do these things and to help save a life. I'm proud that my son is alive today and doing very well.

You will see there is NO prohibition on Blood. Even devout Jews understand this. Acts 15 says to abstain from eating food sacrificed to idols, Paul makes clear that there is nothing wrong with this practice. He said it was only wrong when it stumbled the brothers, in this case the Judaizers. The same principal applies to blood.

Look at their 1968 book, "The Truth That Leads To Eternal Life" & read the second chapter entitled, "Why It Is Wise To Examine Your Religion." They explain that just because a religion "claims" to teach the truth & because they "look good" it doesn't mean they are truly teaching "pure truth" approved by Jehovah!! At Acts 17:11 Paul praised the Beroeans for checking the scriptures to see if these things were so.

Though abstaining from blood has its benefits, one should not be compelled to allow their wife or mother or child to bleed to death "because it's God's will" to do do. "Watchtower Reasoning" on this has caused countless deaths; to take or not take blood should be a personal decision; we are not under "law" any longer, as "Christ is the end of the law," or else he "died for nothing." (Romans 10:4; Galatians 2:21)

God made the blood law to focus RESPECT for LIFE, which comes from HIM, and the Jews obeyed that law, but as Christ is the end of the law, no one is under any of it, but under Christ. At Acts, Paul settled an ongoing argument between new Christians made of Jews & Gentiles.

Even the Jewish Religion of today understand that a blood transfusion to preserve life is NOT going against God's Law in any way, but it is showing a RESPECT for life...life which comes from God. And it was about this respect for life that Jehovah God made the law in the first place. EATING or DRINKING blood is NOT the same as a blood transfusion to preserve life; but honors it.

Now, in this day & age, we can have a heart transplant. Anyone can see that having a heart transplant to preserve life is NOT the same thing as eating one for food. A blood transfusion is using blood for the very purpose for which it was created. The Watchtower made it a "sin" against God & many have thus perished in obedience.

@ThirdNUnion In reading chapter 15 of Acts, we see much arguing going on between Christian Jews who "knew the law," & Gentile Christians who thought the following their "law" was ridiculous. After much speaking to these new Christians, & considering their hot stand in their differences, the decree at Acts 15: 29 was made, which served to calm everyone down, as one can see in reading the full account. Again, abstaining from blood had to do with eating it as FOOD, which disrespected the life.

This is because of their leaderships childlike way of picking and choosing which parts of the Bible they wish to use. I use the NWT, because it is through the use of the Watchtower's own version that I hope to share the truth of what God's own Holy Word actually teaches; what it actually says. God has many "names," but I call Him, "Father," or "Heavenly Father." Jesus never called Him "Jehovah," but "My Father," "Your Father," "Our Father," etc.
Arguing over details, but missing the point, is never productive in knowing "truth." (Matt 23:24)

A blood transfusion is not the same as eating it as food, but to use it for the very purpose it was created: to preserve life, which is precious, & which is from God. 1) We are no longer under "law." 2) The Blood Law had to do with using blood as any other food, which Jehovah hates!! I recall a young JW mother, happy with her first baby, a girl, who later had an accident & needed a transfusion to save her life. She bled to death in obedience to WTBS law; she was only two. The devastated mother cried & cried & she wondered if she'd done the right thing. The WT finally disfellowshipped her & she committed suicide in her grief. The WTBS allowed no service for her.

How could anyone wish that on a child? My son had to under go a blood transfusion when he was 3 months old. It wasn't his choice it was the dr.s, his father's and mine. God gave us the know how to do these things and to help save a life. I'm proud that my son is alive today and doing very well.

@clevelandshero23 - That is just the point oh nebulous one. So this narrows it down. - Now read 1 Corinthians 10:25-33, and take Peters comments in CONTEXT. You will see there is NO prohibition on Blood. Even devout Jews understand this. Acts 15 says to abstain from eating food sacrificed to idols, Paul makes clear that there is nothing wrong with this practice. He said it was only wrong when it stumbled the brothers, in this case the Judaizers. The same principal applies to blood.

@clevelandshero23 I hope you are not too late to REALLY check out the Watchtower!! Look at their 1968 book, "The Truth That Leads To Eternal Life" & read the second chapter entitled, "Why It Is Wise To Examine Your Religion." They explain that just because a religion "claims" to teach the truth & because they "look good" it doesn't mean they are truly teaching "pure truth" approved by Jehovah!! At Acts 17:11 Paul praised the Beroeans for checking the scriptures to see if these things were so.

@clevelandshero23 Yes, the WTBS certainly DOES teach a lot of truth, but it is selected truth, a lot of "twisted truth," & outright lies. The Bible does not point us to any "CHURCH," but to God's Son, Jesus, through our salvation comes. The Good News at Matt.24 was relating to the literal restoration of God's Kingdom in Israel; we should be preaching the Good News about the Christ, which the WTBS ignores & denies their members. Please read Galatians & John & Romans... w/o Watchtower Glasses!!

Jesus says there, "He that has greater affection for father or mother than for me...& vs38 continues, "And whoever does not accept his torture stake & FOLLOW AFTER ME is not worthy of me." Do you see that Jesus was telling us to follow HIM? Never did He point us to a future "organization," but to HIM. John 8:31 says that we must follow Jesus' teachings in order to know the truth, & to be free. Look it up!

I truly do hate to argue; it makes it about "who's RIGHT," & about "winning," & that is not what is important. The Hebrew Scriptures pointed man to Jesus, by which man can attain salvation, forgiveness of sins, be adopted by as His child by way of His Holy Spirit, & thus HAVE eternal life. That's it. It's not about "religion," or who is "better" than another.

(Ephes. 5:23) (Col. 1:18 says the same thing.) To answer your question, Yes, I do go to church when I can, but I do not know if I understand what your point is...are you talking about Jesus, our Lord & Savior, or about Jehovah God who pointed us to Jesus, our Lord & Savior?? @clevelandshero23 From the very beginning of man's downfall, God had a Plan of Salvation" for all of mankind; a way for future humankind to be right with God, & to live forever in the light of God's love, free from the condemnation of sin & death, & this plan was to be through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Throughout the Hebrew Scriptures there are hundreds of signs or prophecies that foretold the coming of the Savior of the world, Jesus, which was to come through God's own people, The Israelites.

@clevelandshero23 God had His People experience first hand the utter futility of trying to live up to His perfect law to show them that no matter how hard they tried, no human could ever EARN forgiveness of sins, or everlasting life. The Law showed them the NEED for the savior, Jesus.
Now in Matthew we see Jesus coming to earth, who came, not only to save us, but to fulfill the Mosaic Law; to set man free from Law, & He bore all of our sins upon Himself & offered Himself as a Perfect Lamb.

@clevelandshero23 Salvation is a free gift. We are to "come to Jesus" for salvation, for truly He is "the way," according to God's arrangement. John 14;6. To "know the truth," we must "remain in Jesus' word" John 8:31. Nowhere in the Bible do we find a numerical limit of whom may find salvation through Christ, rather, we find such words as "the one that" "he that" "anyone" & "everyone" showing that salvation is a FREE GIFT extended to EVERYONE. John 4:10; Acts 8:20; Acts 11:17; Ro.5:15-17

@clevelandshero23 It is for each of us an individual choice to make: Follow Jesus, or follow Man. Jesus further says, "If anyone loves me, he will observe my word, and my father & I will love him & WE SHALL COME TO HIM & MAKE OUR ABODE WITH HIM" John 14:23.
This scripture show how the Holy Spirit of God & Jesus mingles with our own, & how we are then adopted as God's spiritual child.
Jesus also says, "You will be witnesses of me..." Acts 1:8
Just from these few verses we can see God's Plan!!

@clevelandshero23 We must understand that we cannot earn forgiveness of sins, or earn life, by our own fleshly efforts, nor through any religious "works" (Gal. 2:21). We must swallow our pride & admit that we NEED the sacrifice of Jesus to cover our sins; we need to come to Jesus to be saved from condemnation of sin, & with humble gratitude accept what Jesus has already done for us through His shed blood; His FREE GIFT of salvation, & put faith in Him, & when we accept Him as our Lord & Savior

@clevelandshero23 Once we have accepted Jesus as our Lord & Savior, the Holy Spirit of God and Jesus comes into our heart & we are quite literally reborn & adopted by God, then & there, right where we are, just as we are (1Thess 4:8: Col 3:11; 1 John 3:24)
