No, a silver account is enough. But if you want to enjoy the full potential of this game, a gold account is recomandable.

With a silver account you can't host games and make a private server. With a silver account you can only enter public servers.

When u lag it can depend on 3 things.

1) the speed of your internet

2) the quality of the server (the internetspeed of the host)

3) your PC is too old to play halo (which I doubt)

It is a vista only game. There is patch though that allows you to play the singleplayer. But halo is supposed to be played online. I wouldn't buy it if i were you, ther eis no point when you just have a XP pc
